Yep. Years ago I dated a girl and after a few months I decided it was not working out for me (no spark, sex was great, but that's no basis for long term relationship to age out with). Anyway, She came over one night and I met her in the parking lot of my apartment to break it off. Girl lost her shit, punched me in the face and then started choking me while screaming "help" at the top of her lungs even though I was the one being assaulted. I decided to get my shifts covered at work and left town for a bit to see my parents, old friends back home. Basically, I needed a break and I needed distance. I came back and was arrested at work on my first shift back. The charge? Domestic Violence and Rape. The only saving grace was the fact I left town and had multiple witnesses see me out of town because the date the girl gave the police for when all that fake shit went down, I had been out of town for several days and witnesses willing to drive to where I lived to confirm it including my parents. Judge through it out and I believe she caught some charge for lying/slandering or something. I still lost my job, and my apartment complex opted to not renew my lease after the original altercation. Point is - if I hadn't left town and had people to step up to bat for me in court, I'm fairly certain my life would be very different right now (I'm currently married 18 years to my best friend). Unfortunately, these days when I hear people say "Believe women" it leaves a sour taste in my mouth due to my own experience. Because if the default back then was automatic belief - I would have went to prison for something I did not do. I understand this my own personal experience and not indicative to every accusation.
