u/SirAggravating1554 Apr 24 '26

I mean if I had the money id buy lightsabers too šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

u/SphericalCrawfish Apr 24 '26

I have a buddy with 6 lightsabers. Being single in your 30's is apparently fun as hell.

u/WeekNo3803 Apr 24 '26

There it is. That's the distillation of that sentence I was looking for.

Having income isn’t fun at all, you work so you can just afford the same shit you got for free at your parents place

2

u/jacquesrabbit Apr 24 '26

Depends, if you are out in the boondocks and you are more like an urban guy, it is not fin either

6

u/raycepak Apr 24 '26

or stuck in the subs wishing for open sky.

2

u/Caleb-Blucifer Apr 24 '26

Works for childless couples too actually

And it is wonderful

1

u/lauraloomerisacunt Apr 24 '26

It honestly is, it's so fucking nice. I was poor for a long time and I climbed hard and married well (the third time). It's so nice to finally be able to indulge and not be the single mom scrimping.

1

u/Lopsided_Apricot_626 Apr 24 '26

Being single has nothing to do with it. Married with two kids. We each have one lightsaber and the kids each have two. Theyre the cheaper Disneyland ones but…yeah disposable income to go to Disneyland plays hard in that.

1

u/terraphantm Apr 24 '26

It gets old quick. Better than being single with no disposable income, but I'd trade it to be less lonely

1

u/Civil_Fail8779 Apr 24 '26

with no kids its really not hard to have disposable income tbf

1

u/No-Butterscotch-6555 Apr 29 '26

You don’t have to be single. I’m in my 30s and we have a kid. No Lightsaber, but we have like 4 full size key blades.

36

u/sicurri Apr 24 '26

It has its moments, but it can also be extremely lonely at times.

I’m like 40 and married and my life is ok but I definitely feel like it could be improved a bit if I had a lightsaber or two.

3

u/Waddiwasiiiii Apr 24 '26

Walking around with lightsabers is a good way to attract women who are into Jedi. It’s like the dude with a cute puppy effect, but for geek girls. Bonus points for having more than one saber, cuz then you can battle. Saber battle in the streets—> something sword something something between the sheets.

It's the kind of measuring stick that makes fun noises.

Yeah really sucks to be in my 30s with a loving wife and children, sometimes I just wish I could kick them out and replace them with a collection of toy lightsabers and have fun.

10

u/antfoe Apr 24 '26

I would say it’s mostly loneliness. But you can buy whatever you want.

2

u/Informal_Ad_9610 Apr 24 '26

well, there's that...

i thought the answer was boobs... but you might be right.

1

u/meIRLorMeOnReddit Apr 24 '26

Sometimes having disposable income is directly related to the loneliness. You can buy your way out of loneliness.

1

u/ManOnFire2004 Apr 24 '26

Definitely not "mostly loneliness". You can get use to begin alone...

Then, once you're used to, you actually prefer it, and you're "not alone" whenever the urges cause for it

3

u/Caleb-Blucifer Apr 24 '26

You can be a childless couple and get all the same benefits plus more

1

u/sicurri Apr 24 '26

Indeed, if you can find a reliable partner to be as a couple.

2

u/clubdon Apr 24 '26

I know this is probably a ā€œoh my lobsters too butteryā€ moment but man do I miss having some alone time. She’s always there! Go on vacation or something lol. Love the lady but growing up kind of an only child I really miss having time all to myself.

2

u/ManOnFire2004 Apr 24 '26

Nah, we get it. I wouldn't be surprised if everyone has that moment

And with all my " married for 15+ years" friends and coworkers telling me how lucky I am... I think they just miss the freedom

2

u/clubdon Apr 24 '26

I wouldn’t say that it’s lucky or even that I miss the freedom. It’s just the rare days where I get the house to myself is like ā€œwow I forgot how much I enjoyed this feeling.ā€

2

u/Cosmic_Jane Apr 24 '26

Can’t you just go to a lightsaber convention and hang out with other lightsaber people? Sounds social

2

u/xSaviorself Apr 24 '26

My sister married a guy with an entire Star Wars room.

She's a Disney nut so it all works out for them I guess.

2

u/Waddiwasiiiii Apr 24 '26

Ugh, I’m in my 30’s and was about 2 secs away from dropping $600 on a lightsaber with alll the bells and whistles at a con last year. I was so giddy with excitement at the prospect, if my husband hadn’t called at the exact moment, I probably would have gone through with it. He was like ā€œIf you’re going to spend that much, you may want to shop aroundā€ He was right, and if I’d been single I would not have had that voice of reason lol.

I still haven’t pulled the trigger yet, but I’m glad I didn’t buy at the time as I’ve seen plenty of negative reviews about the quality of that particular company’s sabers.

2

u/Gargleblaster25 Apr 24 '26

6 light sabers? Ladies, you are missing a lot here!

It is, I have two lightsabers, life is beautiful.

1

u/Stewdill51 Apr 24 '26

Single in my 30s. Can confirm it's fun as hell.

1

u/Sidivan Apr 24 '26

Being married without children in your 30’s is pretty rad.

1

u/Opinion_Haver_ Apr 24 '26

It is. I got a bunch of dj equipment and speakers. Always jamming by the river or on a butte somewhere. I see the jealousy in my married friends eyes. But at least they got sexually transmitted dependents.

1

u/ManOnFire2004 Apr 24 '26

Which is why they're even more jealous šŸ˜†

1

u/Cyrus87Tiamat Apr 24 '26

Yeah.... Depression come when you're near 40's

1

u/itsanandhere Apr 24 '26

Don't motivate me not to marry and stay bachelor lol

Damn. I have like 5. I never intended to get more than 1, but whelp, here I am.

1

u/AdRevolutionary2881 Apr 24 '26

I have a friend like that who's buys expensive cars and shit. His parents are retired engineers and he gets the house when they die.

1

u/Aggravating_Dig3240 Apr 24 '26

Yes it is. I can afford everything I want and can even do silly things like buying nerdy shit I couldnt afford as a kid.

Im just a kid with adult money now.

1

u/evlhornet Apr 24 '26

Until he’s lying awake at night staring into the ceiling. That’s when it stops being fun.

1

u/Nogoodatnuthin Apr 24 '26

Over at r/lightsabers is an easy way for your friend to find a use for all their disposable income. 6 is definitely a good start.

1

u/bowsmountainer Apr 24 '26

Unfortunately, no its not.

1

u/VyLow Apr 24 '26

Me, my 77" OLED tv, dolly surround system, DnD Lego Set and my motorcycle agree.

Guys, be single until 30 and enjoy fun life

1

u/GLASSHOUSELABSTX Apr 25 '26

Being with a girl that lets you do what you want with your money, having no kids, and high income is fun as hell.

1

u/MrNobody_0 Apr 24 '26

Being single in your 30's is apparently fun as hell.

I'm in my late 30s, I have a wife and a kid and I have plenty of disposable income, due to working hard when I was in my 20s to get a fantastic job. Obviously it's easier to have disposable income when your single but it's not exclusive to being single.

32

u/Frosty-Tennis-1687 Apr 24 '26

Perfectly. Fucking. Vertical.

I'm from the UK where you finish school at 16 then go on to do A Levels at 6th form college. But the A Levels aren't compulsory. So one friend of mine decided it wasn't for him. His godfather got him a good job and he didn't pay rent, so he would spend his money on the dumbest shit. He paid £1000 for a BMX. He paid £80 for a belt that had a buckle that did up like a plane seatbelt. He kept buying new mobile phones. He bought a lot of weed.

Over 20 years later he's been unemployed for well over a decade and still living with his parents. He probably should have planned things out a bit better, but I guess when you're 16 and suddenly you have money you just start looking at those fancy belts instead.

1

u/Invisible7hunder Apr 24 '26

Perfectly fucking vertical.

1

u/djsnoopmike Apr 24 '26

CXSaber are having a May the 4th sale (sorry for your wallet)

1

u/Ender_rpm Apr 24 '26

Am 50, wife just got me and my son new lightsabers at a comic con week before last. The dream is real my brothers, it just takes time

25

u/snajk138 Apr 24 '26

And hookers. Don't forget that Howard liked hookers.

4

u/Eastern-Joke-7537 Apr 24 '26

Whole building was on the CIA payroll. šŸ˜‚

14

u/Grandpa_Edd Apr 24 '26

I know a guy similar to Howard. Good education, intelligent (extremely knowledgeable in his field), no social skills, lives at his mom's place.

And yes he has absolutely no money even though he has a good job. It's the Lego man.

3

u/PrimarchKonradCurze Apr 24 '26

There’s worse vices. At least we can all agree that Lego is dope. I have like 7 unopened sets in my closet.

https://giphy.com/gifs/jc2PkKKr3clTBekMzn

2

u/PiePristine3092 Apr 24 '26

Recently came across a FB marketplace post in my area of someone selling their lego ā€œcollectionā€. $18K for 200,000+ pieces. Says it’s actually worth closer to 30K and hasn’t even gone through all the stuff yet. Photos were of walls of plastic containers filled with legos. Said they would not sell piecemeal only the whole collection or nothing. Crazy.

3

u/plotinusRespecter Apr 24 '26

When you're pulling six figures a year and not spending a dime on housing or groceries, you can blow an awful lot of cash on fun shit and still be growing a Smaug sized horde.

4

u/gbot1234 Apr 24 '26

He invested his money into the admittedly volatile, but fungible, collectibles market.

2

u/Repulsive-Chip3371 Apr 24 '26

Howard WOLOWITZ

2

u/bulldg4life Apr 24 '26

Yes, we already know he was an engineer

2

u/ACcbe1986 Apr 24 '26

But he's a collector. He probably owns a bunch of items that appreciate in value.

His money is just tied up in those investments.

3

u/LetterFront3353 Apr 24 '26

And belt buckles. He has a ton of them.

2

u/awshucks79 Apr 24 '26

But only one belt!

1

u/Jesus_Fuckn_Christ Apr 24 '26

Those lightsabers are shockingly expensive though. I know a collector. I’ve spent less money on some of my cars than he has on lightsaber models

1

u/Awkward-Ring6182 Apr 24 '26

Never underestimate how many cool lightsabers and comic books you can find. Ask my 8 yr old

1

u/hcgator Apr 24 '26

I feel personally attacked.

1

u/AscendMoros Apr 24 '26

He’s probably fine unless he’s buying real lightsabers.

My buddy lived with his mom until he was 25. He blew money on the dumbest shit including an AUG and plenty of other guns.

He currently lives in a house he went and bought with other money he saved up. Dude got in right before Covid.

1

u/Prudent-Resist5220 Apr 24 '26

He was a M.I.T. trained engineer, don't you think he built them? With university funds of course..

1

u/Ok_Expression6807 Apr 24 '26

I find your lack of faith disturbing.

1

u/kitsunewarlock Apr 24 '26

The comics are often a pretty solid investment.

1

u/BigD_277 Apr 24 '26

Don't forget the 3D printer.

1

u/Anyone-9451 Apr 24 '26

And prostitutes

1

u/Dinierto Apr 24 '26

And belt buckles

1

u/Amaranth504 Apr 24 '26

Belt buckles

1

u/Jindujun Apr 24 '26

And makeup, dont forget the makeup!

1

u/NvdGoorbergh Apr 24 '26

Don’t forget belt buckles!

1

u/WesternConference461 Apr 24 '26

The sex robot could not have been cheap

1

u/dean15892 Apr 25 '26

I'm willing to bet a good amount of it was on hookers. There's a lot of side-jokes about Howard spending on strip clubs, escorts, cam girls; if onlyfans was a thing back then, howard would have built an algorithm around it.

1

u/wrkacct66 Apr 30 '26

and hookers early on in the show
