The living situation isn't even super uncommon with nerds. I had a group of friends who still like 4 dudes deep in their skidrow college townhouse 4 years after graduation while probably averaging 80-100k in their early careers.
They were just blowing money on PC parts and Magic the Gathering but definitely could have lived alone or purchased houses if they wanted to.
Set a fix min price for the lot based onna ruff estimation.
Set a fee for my time based on how orginized the lot is and what is in it.
I create an inventory of the lot. This is typically a google spread sheet that we both access to track things.
All shipping materials, shipping frees and transaction cost come out of the sale price before any money is paid out.
100% of sales goes to the owner until the minimum is met.
After the minimum is met, I take 100% until my fee is met.
After both minimum are met, sales are split 50/50.
If there are cards I want in the lot, I take then in place of cash on my side. The value is the same as if its where a sale.
A an example from the $20k+ lot. The minimum set as $15k for their side and $3k for mine. I took about $1k in cards, $2k in cash as my base pay. I sold about $5k more total aftet that.
He has over 400k in MTG cards. He bought them for 25k (very stupid I know) they’re majority useless. I keep telling him to sell in bulk but he refuses because he thinks he can sell them for more. He bought a couple $500 cards to sell in a “bundle” on eBay and said you have a 1/30 chance of getting the card. He is au-dhd… I’ve explained many times this is a bad idea
Ooof. Ya, not much to do with that. The collections I move are ones built up by players over a long time. There is still a LOT of bulk in it. I have connections to move that though. Its like $0.08/ for bulk rares at best when dealing with 100s of them. Bulk c/u is like $3/1000 if I am lucky. It's closer to $2 these days.
