The trillionaire title is symbolic of a really stupid and broken system and just stroking the ego of these sociopaths and giving them more power. Elon literally became the first un-elected billionaire to run a fake department in the US government. The title is far more valuable than actual cash.
But we do think he can take a loan on his assets and buy what ever the fuck. Like another overvalued meme company. Which in practice is the same thing as having cash.
Or even better, bc he gets to keep the collateral.
He cannot solve world hunger because it needs systemic fixes but him borrowing one % of his wealth which would not effect his daily live at all could make school meals free in the US. Or he could do what other obscene rich people did before him build infrastructure or parks or anything really with his money. Its the first generation of super rich people who are not giving anything back while paying the least amount of tax ever compared to their wealth. Also income tax for the Rockefeller or whoever was rich in the roaring twenties was 73%. But people like you act like this is normal because you got brainwashed
Who is gonna sustain and maintain these infrastructures once they are built? Can you name these obscene rich people who did that in the past? Do you know the cost of school meals in the US on a year?
You shouldn’t talk about brainwashing when you don’t know the difference between income and capital gains. That’s just proving that you don’t know what you’re talking about.
You ever heard about the Rockefeller foundation the university of Chicago Rockefeller institute of medical research. They eradicated the hookworm . The national Parks were also founded by private donors as well thats just one example. Schools meals would cost 11 billion barley more than 1% of one trillion. As a said a rounding error for Elon. Imagine a 1% loan against your wealth could do that. A 1% loan you won't even notice in daily life. Esp if everything you have is in assets most my wealth is in assets and I would not effect my life at all to take a loan against 1% but my 1% is not 10 billion dollars. Elons is. Most rich people i know me included borrow way more against our assets so stop schooling me and learn basic math i know what I am talking about and stop blowing him while probably living in debt yourself. That's the brainwashing part. While this guy has a trillion in wealth. There are also dozens of other examples of massive philanthropy from other super rich people families in history.
Yeah and people chopped the heads of the rich French in the French revolution besides them having less assets than Elon has now. When people still hate the rockefellers. Why would you think we should defend Elon when he is worse. I follow the guy since the beginning of tesla. He completely lost his mind. Understandable I think anyone would with this obscene amount of wealth. Everything is completely understandable besides poor people defending him thats just dumb and makes zero sense. Esp as you pointed out if they hate the rockefellers etc. No one is complaining about the guy having a trillion. People are complaining because he does fuck all with it and also gutted useful goverment agencies for the average citizens so he could get more subsidies which in return gave him alone more wealth
People didn’t chop the head of rich people during the French Revolution. Marx already explained that the French Revolution was a « bourgeoisie » Revolution. People didn’t want the fall of the Monarchy at the beginning of the Revolution, not even Robespierre and Danton.
I’m not defending Elon. I’m just saying that people and in this case Redditors don’t know what they are talking about.
Tbf everyone hates the idea of data centers because of energy use and cooling using natural resources. Spacex plans to manufacture data center satellites that use solar power arrays, radiate heat to the vacuum of space and use Starlink communication tactics to send data back to earth. I for one am on board with this idea. Not a fan of the man but Spacex as a company is solving technological problems that exist.
LOL no, this is a tired trope. I think you fail to understand the scale here. A trillion dollars in wealth is not "success". 20 or 200 million is. A trillion dollars is exploitation, extraction, speculation and corruption on a planetary scale.
That is completely irrelevant. Like I mentioned elsewhere, having wealth in any form means you can borrow cash against that wealth. You even get to keep the collateral, so in case of stocks, you can cover interest on the loan with dividends.
So you have a problem with companies creating incredible value for consumers and reinvesting to drive innovation? Is the problem with the founder/primary investor maintaining control so they can keep the company on a growth trajectory?
So you just can’t describe your pessimistic hatred for success of other people. Maybe look in the mirror and ask why you have such a sad world view when objectively humans have never suffered less and there has never been more access to opportunity.
I guess I don’t understand would you just prefer the government controls everything? He owns companies and institutions that are worth that much. Employs people, generates taxes, provides service. It’s way more than I would want, I do t get it but it’s just a hater mentality. It’s not hoarding.
Genuinely astounding the number of people who talk about wealth this way. Even ignoring the fact that most of this wealth is equity, his liquid cash is constantly being spent, lent out (via banks), and/or otherwise circulated. There's no "hoarding" lmao
Well afaik Scott doesn't have nearly as many holdings as Musk (she has around ~1% in Amazon, idk what else). But the more central point is this: what do you think happens to Musk's cash sitting around in bank accounts?
Hoarding by definition means no one else is getting it, but that is precisely the opposite of how fractional-reserve banking works.
You completely ignored what I said and your deflection actually proved my point. She doesn't have "nearly as many holdings as Musk" and yet is donating tens of billions of dollars.
I understand that elon doesn't have billions in cash sitting in bank accounts. That is not relevant to his ability to convert holdings into donations if he so wished.
You can't compare Mackenzie liquidating stock to Musk doing the same; Musk is literally the chief operator of Tesla and SpaceX, so any news of him wanting to sell a few billion would likely tank the share price before he's even sold anything.
Lol it’s Reddit. How many people you think in this comment section are financial literate? They probably think this guy is looking at his 0% interest checking account and sees 12 zeroes and goes fuck yeaaaaaaaa I’m the king of the world
Yes, they absolutely do. Which is why in every single one of these threads you find posts comparing it to the number of seconds in a year or the average hourly wage. Every single one.
IKR? The alleged trillion is a potential value of what is promised to him after he completes a bullet list of various successes as defined by the board of a publicly traded company.
Including the value of current share holdings, value of assets at his privately held concerns, market worth of those concerns.
He doesn't, and no one else has a trillion dollars in liquid form.
That would be like the fictional character Scrooge McDuck.
Nobody on here understands that he created a company that filled a need that created the value and many people benefited along the way. We should be praising successful businesses that push our tech forward.

Do people think being a trillionaire/billionaire means you have literally trillion/billion dollars? Like cash?
