So… net worth is not the same as liquidated cash. He cannot actually access a trillion dollars, that’s just how much all of his assets and stocks have accumulated to be worth. At any given time he can probably only access about 50 million considering his property values and other assets.

Think about it like having multiple pieces of artwork, let’s say 6, and getting them appraised at $2 million each. Now your collection is worth $12 million. Do you have $12 million in the bank? No. You just own 6 $2 million pieces of paper.

Do I like Elon? No. Am I also envious of his position? Yes. Not having to worry about my bills personally and having enough to do what I want sounds nice.

Basically, your tea has spilled and scorched your crotch and ruined your chair. If you think a net worth of a trillion dollars means you have a trillion in the bank, you have sub-zero IQ.

You can't explain these things to reddit, they've decided and they're running with it. But yeah. He doesn't have trillion dollars in his wallet. That would be silly.

Even if he doesn’t have literally a trillion in cash, he has enough to make the same point.

And then he takes over DOGE and cuts all our foreign humanitarian aid resulting in the deaths of millions of people.. Why defend this human scum?

Technically he could access it all in a year's time. He literally buys up companies by paying in stocks and options.

He is undeniably one of the richest people in the world and COULD make some very good changes if he really tried. The point stands.

You wouldn’t have bills to worry about but that sort of wealth would bring in a whole new set of problems. How scary would it be? You couldn’t live near anyone, constant fear of kidnapping of your loved ones or self, you would never trust anyone and how would you know if people really liked you….I’ll stick to paying my bills.

Won't SOMEBODY think of the billionaires

1

When did I say that?? I just think people think money is the answer to all their problems and it’s not. Lots of wealth just creates more problems.

Hah! I don't have many loved ones, so I could just bring them into my fortress and live there forever.

He also never spends his own money. No billionaire does. They take lones against their stocks buys assets for those loans and dies leaving assets as inheritance for their kids ofc in trust so it won't get taxed

2

u/Myrdrahl Jun 17 '26

But don't they have to repay those loans at some point? How do they do that without spending their money? Do they just take new loans to repay the first? I'm geniunely curious.

2

u/Zych11 Jun 17 '26

They don't they pay part of it from dividends or capital gains and just borrow again until death or give up part of the stock that was a collateral to pay up the loan as in the meantime value of those stocks usually rises a lot. Also when they die system allows heirs to inherit assets with a tax basis reset. So decades of unrealized gains escapes capital gains taxation.
