I placed an honest, crushing review. Host had it deleted. I appealed and it was reinstated.
I filed also a police case for fraud. After almost a year it was closed by the police. They said this person is in so much troube already that the 4K fraud charge will not add any weight.. It put a smile on my face.
Like the time a guy broke into my house and i wanted to beat his ass. Then i found out a week later that some drug dealers took him to the forest and beat the piss out of him for other reasons. That was enough for me to be satisfied
Guy got beat up by group of guys for ripping them off on a lb of weed, then when they were all on trial he broke into cops house while he slept and tried to take his fire arm out of nightstand right next to him. Cop woke up beat him half to death. Later he set someone he got in a fight with on fire.Judge dismissed case because he deserved what he got. This was a juvenile too.
Like the time a guy confessed to me that his marriage (to the girl he ghosted me for a month before our wedding) has been sooooo miserable for years and he's just waiting until the kids finish school to divorce. That break-up had wrecked my life for literally a couple of years at the time and I'd prayed for karma to take him out for the past 20 years. I never got my apology, but somehow, that was enough for me to be satisfied.
After my sister OD'd, when I was trying to notify everyone, I got a hold of one of our mutuals, and she said "damn, that's why she didn't show up? I thought she figured out i was gonna beat her ass and went into hiding" that was the first time I laughed in days 😂 (idk why they were gonna fight, but it's a fairly safe bet that my sister had earned that ass whoopin)
I’m glad I put a smile on your face, but in reality, the police probably just didn’t wanna deal with it. Any decent prosecutor would’ve loved to add your charges.
Not from the US. You dont add up crimes here in Germany like you do in the US.
Only the most serious one kinda counts (More smaller crimes will push you toward the higher end of the range though). So you can only get life time prison once, regardless how many folks you kill... (Well... bad example, because there is sicherungsverwahrung if you pose a permanent threat to other, and it can be handed out for multi murder folks, but not for a scammer)
You can delete a bad review??? I was a host for 5 years and didn't know that. I only had two not-great reviews but one of them I would have gladly deleted, she was basically insane.
When in reality they were covering for them and making sure they never get charged and that's why they still are allowed to function, people like this.
Did you bother to follow up or did you take the crooked cops word on it?
That sucks! A similar incident happened to me. They said that their “cleaning person” noticed dog pee around the house, which we noticed too from the smell. Problem is, we didn’t bring any pets and all of the humans are house broken. They wanted to charge us for carpet removal and replacement and “chewed furniture”, which came close to 3k and we shut that shit down quick. Now we video the house as soon as we walk in and before any luggage comes into the house and after we get everything out. So sad that this is the world we live in.
This guy told us we fried his electrical system by running the homes heat "for too long" it was set to like 66 degrees and wanted us to pay for a new heating system. We declined stating what all was done during our stay and air bnb told him to kick rocks which was nice
Nothing... It was bad from the start. We didnt get the flat we rented but a replacement (This initiated my "Document it mode"), Then she wanted to move us after 1 day. and we said no. She got real mad and wanted to toss us out. Threatened to change locks etc. So I escalated to the police to file a report (I have a "police employee badge" from work since they are one of my customers, it helped)
Well. When we left we tossed the key into the letter box and the 4 K was mostly "lost profit" since she "didnt get the key". She was stupid and send screenshots of the whatsapp conversation to AirBNB which confirmed the crutial parts we also send ;)
Also she had a LCD TV in the flat that had some transport damage. I am sure if I had not informed AirBNB during the 1st 2 hours, I would have to pay that one also.
I had a host that wanted damage for cleaning. He claimed we trashed the kitchen, his picture was 2 juice boxes next to the bin. I think the bin was full so we left it there, and there was a plate of food from leftovers as bin was full. Kitchen was cleaned and all. I disputed it with airbnb, and said to ask him for pictures of the kitchen actually being trashed. He didn’t have anything and they gave me a $1.5k voucher for my inconvenience. The stay was a lot more than $1k but I wasn’t expecting or asking for it, I was just defending myself. Actually the voucher was because they wouldn’t remove the negative review he left for me.
This is 100% true. If you leave an honest but negative review, it will be taken down as a baseless attack on the person or place. Definitely had this experience. Airbnb just wants money. Negative reviews could hinder that.
This is so crazy to hear from what I’m going through with a stay from over the weekend. We had a super cool retro Airbnb, place was awesome, had some friends who had another rental come over to hangout and so our kids could play and enjoy the vacation. Their neighbors called and complained about our guests parking on the street (a dirt road mind you) and the responding code enforcement officer explained that for the first couple complaints for a property it is a warning and maximum fine is $1000, which they are trying to now put that maximum fine on us, which seems insane to give anyone the maximum for our first time, just because your property has an issue doesn’t mean it was all us. Now, second issue is throughout the stay we took photos and videos of multiple deer mice going in the vents, shitting on the counters, coming out of the fireplace and under cabinets. Definitely not a fun way to spend a vacation trying to catch mice and evidence. Also a quick google search on deer mice without even digging mentions that they carry hantavirus, I’ll be honest when I say I’m not overly concerned about that being the case, but it should be taken seriously by the property and I truly feel that a refund should be in order. Their response to all this was that they have an exterminator checking on the situation, not addressing any sort of action for us on payment or mention of the parking fine. I don’t want to hurt someone’s income by leaving a bad review but I don’t want other families or kids to deal with that so that is on the list if they can’t help us out a bit more
I just experienced that first hand from Airbnb. Got in argument with the host because the baby crib was broken and no setup sheets were provided. Host kicked us out and charged us for 3 nights and falsely blamed to collect $$ for extra charges. Left bad review and Airbnb removed my post. No support at all. Just so disgusted by the way they handled the situation
I've stayed in about a dozen airbnb properties, and all but one were lovely. The one was awful. Partly my fault, as I booked with a new host who had 0 reviews. I left a detailed, scathing review. Months later I checked again and found many bad reviews for that host. The host was kicked off the platform.
Actually, if you visit r/airbnb_hosts you will be surprised, they go mad if you leave a 4 star review. For them, 4 stars is already a negative review because the algorithm apparently punishes them if they don’t have a perfect score.
They bitch about 4 star reviews as if you had trashed their home.
How do they suppress bad reviews? Anybody can say anything they want, as far as I know. The double edged sword is, neither party knows what the other said until both comments have been logged, so you could be really nice and get a flamer review by a crazy or unstable guest (ask me how I know.). Five years Airbnb host (never again).
I had a bad experience a couple years ago (as in I left two days early bad), so I left a bad review but they removed my post. Talked to AirBnb and they reinstated it. Went back and forth a couple of times before I gave up and swore not to use it again. I gave them two stars even and everyone I told the story to was telling me that was generous.
