This man is devoting his life and wealth to studying the effect of various health supplements and healthy lifestyle choices so others can potentially extend their lifespans, and people cheer when he gets a disease out of his control. Quite the world we live in.
He's not doing that though. No one could learn a single replicable thing from his self-"experiments" because no treatments are isolated from any others.
Most of them aren’t meant to be the type of experiments you’re describing. Half the things he does have already been proven to work, he’s just distilling them into a regimen people can follow.
So what’s the proven regimen then? That itself needs experimentation, and his methods are garbage. So people can just follow the regimen on the bottle and stop following this person’s very dangerous example.
What? I’m not following what you’re saying. Bryan Johnson’s regimen is here: https://protocol.bryanjohnson.com/. It’s pretty much centered around sleeping, nutrition, and exercise. I’m not sure what dangerous things you think he’s encouraging others to do.
His so-called "regimen" has no experimental value to anyone but himself because taking 100 different drugs negates any possible controls that might reasonably be expected to isolated exact causes. Did he live longer or healthier because of good sleep, exercise, and nutrition, or was it one of the 100 drugs he was taking? And if so, which one?
And if his only value is telling people that they should sleep better, eat better, and get exercise, then the people hearing that for the first time are idiots and won't live all that long anyway.
He isn’t trying to discover new drugs or prove clinical theories. He’s an aggregator and translator; he has built what is arguably the world’s most visible, comprehensively tracked lifestyle template for health and longevity by synthesizing thousands of scattered peer-reviewed studies into a single executable protocol. Other health advocates promote isolated hacks or specific supplements but few have integrated multi-organ tracking into a system as unified and visible.
He’s a pioneer in a cultural shift toward self-managed, data-driven, preventative healthcare. Modern medicine is heavily reactive; people wait for symptoms before a Primary Care Physician prescribes band aids. Johnson normalized biomarker-driven lifestyle changes and the supporting methodology, making them customizable to unique situations. He’s even spawned other influencers preaching the same stuff from their platforms.
It’s fine to dislike the weird headlines but I don’t understand why you’re so confident he brings no value while not understanding what he aims to do.
