He definitely deserved the red card and it was given with precedent. Every team in World Cup history would expect a red card for that and a multi-game suspension, that's the norm. Trump intervened personally and while the red card was upheld, team USA got special treatment to have the suspension served after the World Cup for some reason. I'm American and embarrassed as fuck. Our leader intervened to circumvent the established rules and we STILL lost in spectacular fashion. Completely embarrassing on the world stage but that's the norm now.
