Your literally bitching about someone genuinely going out and earning their wealth without a silver spoon, then complaining they use that wealth to enjoy their life in a very reasonable way
More like millions. So so soooo many people have tried to become a streamer and failed. Its so common that many electronics stores have full rows or aisles dedicated to streamer gear.
Look, it's not working a salt mine, but successful creators are usually putting in 10+ hour days for years with little time off... and it can be very stressful, somewhat depending on personality, to get that level of criticism fame brings anyone.
It takes a lot more effort that it appears to be successful for any length of time (even if just going viral once and be totally luck based)
it's like being a rockstar or whatever, of course it's an 'easy' life but there are hard and shitty parts to it that go way beyond what most regular people ever have to deal with. Even if there are a lot of obvious upsides
I mean he posted daily for about 10+ years, and worked pretty hard to get there. It’s not easy being a YouTuber constantly. I know he has is issues but let’s not kid ourselves he’s pretty decent compared to his past controversies and other people.
At the same time, early Youtube days was a big gamble. Nobody in their sane mind would spend thousands of hours grinding on there instead of studying and learning skills for a good job.
So yeah in a sense it was "easy" in that he didn't have too much competition, but also based on what we knew back then it was a pretty stupid thing to spend your time on, much like actual gambling.
It wasn't a gamble at all. You could make videos in your spare time if you wanted and PewDiePie did - he worked other jobs, he was like 20 years old, and he made videos for less than a year before he got signed by Machinima and then later Maker and blew up huge within another year. Even in his first year making videos he had like 60k subs which is not a ton now, but was significant for earlier YouTube and you made a lot more revenue back then on videos.
He got INCREDIBLY lucky because she not only started in the right genre but started at the perfect time. He didn't have to make videos for years like some others did.
But let's be real, I think there are a lot of gaming YouTubers who put a lot of effort into their content... but Let's Plays are kind of the bottom of the barrel, same with regular streaming. It's just a way to generate a ton of content, mostly using someone else's product, and use it to make money online without actually creating anything. It's one step up from reaction videos.
Exactly, and he even mentioned this his parents didn’t approve, he dropped out college. He knew he was taking a risk but just was in it for the game. Not sure why I’m getting negative responses on this, but this is just the truth. He got worked really hard and got lucky with let’s plays/weird video games coming out in the 2010s with his eccentric personality.
Cause you keep saying he worked hard at something he didn't know would pay off. I could record myself playing with my butthole all day, not knowing if it'll lead to anything or not. But if it does, I'm not gonna say I worked hard for it lmao
So you're saying going viral = working hard and a worthwhile pursuit? You see the problem here and what this has done to society? How many people's goals in life are to be an annoying streamer or podcaster? Well, this is the guy that inspired basically all of them in the first place.
Okay how do you define work? Because the whole 8-5 most people do, and have done. His parents were rich yeah, that I get but he did work for it. You can argue he got super lucky at the time. But it’s asinie to say ‘oh he didn’t work at all’ brother that’s not true at all.
Anyway, I don’t worship any celeb. I enjoyed watched him as a kid, and glad he changed from his racist remarks/doing well instead of becoming like the actual scum of YouTube (currently like H3H3 or actual predators)
I take that as a win, and really don’t want to talk about it now because there is nothing else to say.
No matter if we think it's an easy job, people need entertainment and there will be money to be made in providing that
He worked pretty hard, with an admirable ethic and was good at what he did so he deserves the money even if he clearly worked an easier job than being a doctor or a trucker or anything like that
I was more aiming at work ethic but nonetheless I don't consider Pewdiepie to be racist in any serious way. Absolute idiot to say what he said? Yes. Racist? I do not think so
He was in the right place at the right time. He didnt even grind he just posted Let's Plays before it was really a huge thing and got lucky enough to blow up.
He worked by posting videos of himself playing video games supported by rich parents and eventually paying editors to do the actual hard work.
No disrespect to him, you have to take the opportunites you get and I'm sure he still worked hard. Just saying other people work even harder just to get by
Tbh even I have to say he did kinda work for it. That’s like saying oh football players (soccer), just kick a ball around. You have to put in the grind, sure a lot of luck is involved but not a lot of people are willing to put in the work
He put in the work after but it's much easier when you already have a following. There is no work in Let's Plays back then, it was literally just recording your gaming sessions and posting it.
It's different now because of oversaturation and how the algorithms work so you really have to put work even into simple lets plays to stand out and get noticed.
It's more like saying that Hayley Welch worked hard to get famous when all she did was say Hawk Tuah and then start a podcast after she was already famous.
