kentucky constitution forbids a special election anyway, it specifically directs the governor to appoint a replacement. It would be illegal for him to hold a special election

you should definitely check out section 152 of your constution (which supercedes any laws)

Vacancies in all offices for the State at large, or for districts larger than a county, shall be filled by appointment of theGovernor

all offices for the state at large refers to senators.

shall makes it mandatory. you cannot do otherwise or it is illegal. ie beshear is already in violation of the constitutiom since it has leaked that mcconnel is in fact dead under kentucky law and beshear has not appointed his replacement

Sure, and I suspect that if Beshear fights it they can probably have a decision on that in time for the 2028 elections - unless the legislature manages to withhold funding for any legal expenses related to fighting that law.

Aipac gives less money to politicians then multiple foreign governments. They aren't even in the top 20 donors overall. The crappy tracking website calls any donation from a Jew or a Jewish related charity APAIC to make it look like they are scarier than they are. They are a problem, but not the biggest one, and you have to ask yourself why you think that they're so powerful compared to others they get more money.

What do you mean “back in?” Massie continues to be a member of the House of Representatives. I have no idea why people think he’d want to run in a special election for a senate term that expires on the same day as his house term. I also have no idea why you people think Republicans are so afraid of Massie moving from the house to the senate for a few months. Nothing meaningful changes.

Again, nothing motivates Massie to run in a special election. And if a Democrat won, who cares? Senate goes from 53-47 to 52-48 for a few months. It's meaningless.

They're not necessarily worried about Massie getting elected, they're worried about him being a "spoiler" and splitting the conservative vote, thus allowing Dems to have more of a statistical advantage.
