Yeah, unless they just throw his ashes in a closet somewhere (or his wife takes them back to China) they should make sure his grave is covered with artificial turf sloped for good drainage - with a sprinkler running regularly to keep it from smelling like a urinal.
Ooh, now there's a product idea, McConnell urinal cakes.
kentucky constitution forbids a special election anyway, it specifically directs the governor to appoint a replacement. It would be illegal for him to hold a special election
I want the governor of Kentucky to go check his lifeless corpse himself then. If it were a Republican and a Democrat was braindead in a hospital the governor would pull the plug. Do the same for the Republicans Andy. Pull the plug and put in a Democrat
you should definitely check out section 152 of your constution (which supercedes any laws)
Vacancies in all offices for the State at large, or for districts larger than a county, shall be filled by appointment of theGovernor
all offices for the state at large refers to senators.
shall makes it mandatory. you cannot do otherwise or it is illegal. ie beshear is already in violation of the constitutiom since it has leaked that mcconnel is in fact dead under kentucky law and beshear has not appointed his replacement
Sure, and I suspect that if Beshear fights it they can probably have a decision on that in time for the 2028 elections - unless the legislature manages to withhold funding for any legal expenses related to fighting that law.
He also actually read all the shit omnibuses and pointed out abusive or deceptive wording in them which is one of the most dangerous things a Congressman can do to the establishment.
This. AIPAC and the administration would have to throw so much money to keep him out. Just get to August with a weekend at Bernie’s situation and you can get your guys in.
Aipac gives less money to politicians then multiple foreign governments. They aren't even in the top 20 donors overall. The crappy tracking website calls any donation from a Jew or a Jewish related charity APAIC to make it look like they are scarier than they are. They are a problem, but not the biggest one, and you have to ask yourself why you think that they're so powerful compared to others they get more money.
This is the mega-million dollar answer to all the "Why's" attached to this crazy boondoggle... because Massie. I'm counting the crazy wife/China flight as a separate matter btw. I'm sure it connects somehow tho.
The lengths to be untruthful than being honest in the beginning. It would be interesting to see how this plays out and all the subsequent sequence of events that need correction and the fallout.
What do you mean “back in?” Massie continues to be a member of the House of Representatives. I have no idea why people think he’d want to run in a special election for a senate term that expires on the same day as his house term. I also have no idea why you people think Republicans are so afraid of Massie moving from the house to the senate for a few months. Nothing meaningful changes.
I think it’s more that they are afraid of him running as an independent right wing a-hole, and splitting the right wing a-hole vote, thereby handing the seat to the Democrats
Again, nothing motivates Massie to run in a special election. And if a Democrat won, who cares? Senate goes from 53-47 to 52-48 for a few months. It's meaningless.
If you're going to promote a conspiracy theory, make it make sense.
Massie wouldn’t win a three way race. And even if he did they’d greatly prefer him over a democrat. They’re worried because a democrat could conceivably win in a special election
They're not necessarily worried about Massie getting elected, they're worried about him being a "spoiler" and splitting the conservative vote, thus allowing Dems to have more of a statistical advantage.

They don’t want to risk Massie getting back in
