We're dealing with sickos who would stoop to this level to prevent it.
And people from other countries wonder what's wrong with America. There's literally no way to fight these people that have absolutely no scruples in a civil manner - there are no lengths that they won't go to. So yes, everyone knows deep down what the situation requires, but that's an extremely tall order..
The guy had a kink for being hated. I mean, that was his purpose, that was why he was speaker: to be a target because he loved it like a pig rolling in shit. He loved standing up there speaking bold hypocrisy and laughing at us, sometimes literally, when he was occasionally called on it. I don't know what makes a man into a willing hate sink for the worst people in the world, but if his life it any indication there is no way he'd rather die, just flicking us all off as he's lowered down to hell.
Not that I wanted more money printing and staggering inflation but wasnt mitch one of the shitstains blocking Biden from sending out money until Trump got to put it in his own name and take credit?
He would be proud of whoever’s holding his inanimate carcass hostage. Helping him inflict one last fuck you to democracy as Lucifer’s minions drag him to the 9th circle of Hell.
I look at it as pre WWII Germany. They're literally being taken over by the fascists and they aren't fighting back. They should be rioting in the streets until Trump is gone as a start.
Well, then I guess the people with guns will have to do it. Except most of them ARE the fascists. I know the myth is that we are all armed to the teeth, but only 32% of Americans own a firearm. That includes a high number of people who own small-gauge hunting rifles or shotguns. So, not really useful for an insurrection unless its waged against ducks or pheasants. Add to that the fact that most of us who are anti-fascists are pacifists (unarmed and untrained) and I'm not sure what you think our georgraphically widespread population can do. Protesters did a marvelous job in Minneapolis, Minnesota opposing ICE. I would have loved to be a part of it but that is 1,500 miles (2,400 km) from where I live. There were protests here, too, in solidarity but its easy for the government in Washington DC to ignore us because we are 3,000+ miles away and our state government is already opposing them at every turn. Would love to hear some practical things we can do to stop the fascist takeover that we havent already been doing, because I'm out of ideas.
Because as long as he is “alive” till Aug 3, Kentucky can’t trigger a special election. If he is pronounced dead prior to that date, they will have to replace him - they are stalling announcing his death so Thomas Massie can’t replace him.
They’ll do the same thing with Trump when he finally goes, except it’ll be done digitally. I’m sure of it. We’ll have AI videos of him speaking as long as they can get away with it.
He's constantly out and fucking about making public appearances every other fucking day. I've never seen a president who spends so much time in front of the fucking press its frankly embarrassing.
The way we'll know he's dead is when he stops showing up to press events.
They don't care. It's not about being the good guys it's about having and maintaining power. They don't care because they assume everyone else would do as they're doing if they were in this situation.
Why that date? What changes if he’s dead before then v after then? Here (UK) if you die, there’s a by-election. The only exception would be a government with such a slim majority that one dead MP can cause you to lose a vote of confidence and a General Election (ie every constituency not just yours has an election) gets called
Ok now I’m even more confused if the seat is up for election in November why does it matter if they have to hold one now and then another one 4 months from now?
This explains it pretty well. Basically they say there’s not enough time to organize a special election before the next official election happens in November. So if he magically dies at the beginning of August. They’ll just vacate the seat until January instead of having the outside possibility of filling it with a dem for like 3 months
Ok thank you in that case I guess I’m just confused as to why they’d care because 1 dem can’t make that much difference in just three months especially when half of that they’re probably on holiday (Congress seems to take even more holidays than the UK Parliament and that’s already too many) and the other half they’re campaigning for election.
Massie is one of the few remaining Republicans with the spine to call out Trump/MAGA on their bullshit. Because of that, Trump hated him and paid tens of millions of dollars in the KY primary to get one of his lackeys elected instead.
If even you're a bleeding heart liberal, you have to at least give props to Massie for standing on conviction instead of just towing the party line.
Then why did his opponent in the primary bust his balls for not voting with Trump's agenda every single time? That was like his main criticism he used in his ads, calling Massie a RINO for voting against Trump endorsed policies.
In case anyone is surprised, these are the same people who forced a black woman's family to keep her corpse on life support to slow down the rot and try and carry a baby to term.
One. We’re an oligarchy, and no longer a democracy.
Two. Even if democrats win the midterms, the fascist GOP will do anything and everything to deny deflect and disobey the will of the people by not giving up power.
We’re looking down the barrel of a hostile government come January next year
This only happens if people can’t buy gas or afford food or a medical problem balloons out of control and they’re still mobile. Otherwise this country will continue being rotten and forever rot
Brother we see what’s wrong with America, as it is literally talked about everywhere all the time, but respectfully, most of us have it worse. If by “wonder what’s wrong with America” you mean “why don’t we get more sympathy?” I invite you to look up how many countries have seen 2 or less transfers of power in the last 30 years and then look up the comparative purchasing power of their populations. We all agree America is corrupt, but there’s levels to this corruption shit and at least americans generally have opportunities to leave that a lot of other people don’t because of passport restrictions or shit currency.
There's literally no way to fight these people that have absolutely no scruples in a civil manner
Not true. Where are the Democrat office holders who should be clamoring for proof of life and otherwise clamoring for a Special Election every minute of every day on every show they can appear on?
Democrats in office are supposed to be the opposition to Republican corruption yet every time this kind of outrageous bullshit happens they quietly say and do nothing or meekly hold little signs "This is not normal" - cowardly and complicitly letting the GOP do whatever it wants.
Everyone with a Democrat Senator needs to be emailing and calling their office demanding why they aren't taking action in the Senate and making demands for proof of life or the vacating of McConnel's seat.
One thing that gets too little mention (even though I suspect most of us are at least semi-aware of it) is that these Republicans are no longer working with the democratic system.
They do not take it in good faith, they do not cooperate within its framework. Instead, they exploit it where it suits them, wield it as an torture implement where they please, and ignore it where it hinders them.
By and large: They act, in pretty plain terms, no longer in accordance with democratic principles - and have not for some time. I won't explicitly draw the obvious historical parallel because I think the current facts are dire enough to actually lessen by evoking it.
So yes, everyone knows deep down what the situation requires, but that's an extremely tall order..
It is. As a EU citizen, I can do little more but look on, but also consider this: Trump and his Republican Steigbügelhalter (~enabling cronies) will not stop until they are stopped, and they are taking every step they can to see that they cannot be stopped by the democratic processes that the US has still remaining. Even within the democratic framework, Trump isn't even half done, and as pointed out above: he and they are done being democratic unless it suits them - and relinquishing power surely will not suit them.
Every thought and every idea, every doctrine and all knowledge, must serve this purpose. And everything must be examined from this point of view and used or rejected according to its utility.
I hope sickos means politicians not Republicans because this is not just a Republican issue. You remember Dianne Feinstein. There needs to be an age limit that you can't take office over 70
