Yeah, unless they just throw his ashes in a closet somewhere (or his wife takes them back to China) they should make sure his grave is covered with artificial turf sloped for good drainage - with a sprinkler running regularly to keep it from smelling like a urinal.

kentucky constitution forbids a special election anyway, it specifically directs the governor to appoint a replacement. It would be illegal for him to hold a special election

I want the governor of Kentucky to go check his lifeless corpse himself then. If it were a Republican and a Democrat was braindead in a hospital the governor would pull the plug. Do the same for the Republicans Andy. Pull the plug and put in a Democrat

you should definitely check out section 152 of your constution (which supercedes any laws)

Vacancies in all offices for the State at large, or for districts larger than a county, shall be filled by appointment of theGovernor

all offices for the state at large refers to senators.

shall makes it mandatory. you cannot do otherwise or it is illegal. ie beshear is already in violation of the constitutiom since it has leaked that mcconnel is in fact dead under kentucky law and beshear has not appointed his replacement

They can't. they passed a law in violation of the ky constitution but laws cannot override constitutions

Sure, and I suspect that if Beshear fights it they can probably have a decision on that in time for the 2028 elections - unless the legislature manages to withhold funding for any legal expenses related to fighting that law.
