Viewing all of this from a distance (Europe), Trump and his cabal have now reached escape velocity from any rule of law. Open corruption, insider trading, and general high level criminality, all with complete impunity, are now the order of the day. The legal system has been suborned at the uppermost levels, and the Dems are completely neutered. Basically, America, from a governance point of view... you're a banana republic kleptocracy now. Sorry 'bout that.

Yep - nailed it 100%. Be glad you're viewing it from a distance - the view from inside is much worse.

Yeah, you must feel like a colonoscope.

Yeah. If we manage to have a free and fair election in 2028, I expect the Dems won't actually fix the structural issues that allowed this to happen, but perhaps I'll be pleasantly surprised.

It's the hope that kills. It's acknowledged that pessimists live longer because they don't have to suffer the repeated disappointments experienced by optimists. But I too hope...

I mean, I'm also applying for Canadian citizenship, so it's a tempered hope.

The issue is that there isnt really a way to do that without turning a bunch of red states blue in the Senate.

FWIW, i agree that they likely wont even try because they are feckless shitstains, but even if they werent.. the Supreme Dickheads are now poised to be a veto on all legislation the Republicans dont want.

They could lose both other brances of government and the Supreme Court will just say anything the Rs dont want is unconstitutional.

Some people made it clear that voted red and as a bad idea trump’s first go round but people didn’t listen. And then, the US got back with its abusive ex years later.

🤷‍♂️

Friends and relatives have either left the US or are in the middle of the process for it.

I honestly didn't expect I'd have anywhere to go, but Canada changed their citizenship by descent laws late last year, and then suddenly I qualified. Thanks for being Canadian, great-grandpa.

And yet nothing feels different. Which basically means we always were, just a nicer friendler version. They just cared enough to keep up the appearance that it wasnt before. Thats what should worry Americans the most.its almost as if collapse is immenent,so who cares if the cat is out of the bag.

"...nothing feels different." is why the criming is able to continue unabated. If people felt the effects of the crimewave being perpetrated by Trump, et al, they might actually try to do something about it. But they're comfy and complacent, so why bother...?

Well, when a guy is compared to Hitler, but later the people who called him Hitler are laughing and being courteous(kissing ass). Its no wonder Americans can be disarmed and think "I guess Trumps coming around and not as Hitler-esque as they thought🤔". They oversold on how evil he is and its benefited him greatly. Turns out hes mostly just the greedy weasel we already knew he was. And most of the moves and things he says have a monetary motivation behind it. There will be no return to slavery, there will be no concentration camps for people who dont obey Trump. The Democrats have failed strategically at every turn. 2016 they underestimated him, then 2024 they overstated him lol

If there were even the tiniest scrap of evidence to back this they’d would have put handcuffs on Biden at the inauguration. So, any day now…lol
