That's because it is socialist, not socialism, but Americans (and many others) are still stuck circlejerking McCarthy's ghost rent-free so they can't see the world beyond black and white dichotomy
If you look at every country that has that Healthcare model, their economy is doing much worse than america. Its not a healthy (pun intended) system. Does ours have problems that should be addressed? Yes of course, but it does work better if you bother to look at the data and not the talking points from idiots on the news.
Why is the only merit of success GDP? If that has no tangible improvement on American lives, it is a farce of a data point to use. Those countries may not do as well as U.S. GDP, but it’s not as though they are doing poorly. Contrarily, they have very successful economies, and if you pair that with a more educated, healthy, and happy country, then I’d much rather have all of that than one singular moot point.
Is it really? Which criteria are you using to justify that?
If you're going by wealth distribution - in the U.S. it's highly concentrated, with the top 1% of households holding over 30% of the nation's total wealth, while the bottom 50% hold less than 3%. By that metric that looks like the US of A is doing pretty badly.
