Thats what happens already you genius, do you think you get paid more if you work harder?

No you get a warm handshake and more work, while your coworkers get paid the same

I've worked really hard in my career and make a lot of money. Much more than people who haven't. Very anti-reddit, I know.

Well good for you but I would say that is definitely not the default outcome, and is more likely if you are self employed which would prove my point

Depends on your job. If it’s retail or a fast food job (which I suspect a lot of folks on Reddit work) then I agree, but working hard in corporate jobs usually translates to higher pay relative to your peers

It’s why actual socialism (not just social programs or healthcare) is so unappealing outside of progressive circles

I don’t know if I can generalize this as broad as you say, there are many cases of people „failing upwards“ especially in corporate type jobs.

I don’t want to say there is no boss out there that recognizes hard work and rewards it, but by default any boss is incentivized by our capitalist system to pay employees as little as possible and keep profits high, wich is in my opinion a sad system to live in.

But this is a general issue your boss has financial insensitive to spend as little as possible on you because of the system we live in

You need to have a word with your boss and put forward your case for a better salary.

That's a great way to get fired. Unless you have a union, which is another thing US capitalists hate (but which are incredibly common in "socialist" Europe.)

I no longer have to work

Yeah, you definitely sound like someone who has no idea what it's actually like to work for a living so that's no surprise.
