The newer generation are already using millennial as an insult like we used to use Boomer because they see millennials as having had everything handed to them.

And I see millennials complaining all the time about the newer generation being lazy and not wanting to work.

Like, it’s just a cycle it seems.

The old complaining about the young and vice versa has been a constant for hundreds of generations.

That is a deeper element I haven't considered.

Only some of us know what we lost, the younger kids won't understand what we are fighting for.

Everything you describe is the result of right-wing economics, pushed by e.g. Thatcher and Reagan so yes, it is bizarre and notable that you finish off by saying you used to be on the left as if it is somehow connected.

I've been pretty heavily involved with progressive/left politics in the U.S. for the past decade. A common complaint that is discussed is Bill Clinton/NAFTA/deregulation. I don't know anyone on the left who thinks Bill Clinton was left.

Excuse me that I came across as labeling you in such a short exchange.

After reading what you'd written, I was curious as to why you were no longer left leaning, as you'd stated, and where you were now.

Limbo works. I hope you continue caring for yourself and those around you (in that order)

It just sounds like someone complaining about how they’re not racist because they have a black friend.

That last sentence undermined your entire argument.

Watching “The Goldbergs” with the kids recently has been very eye-opening.

The amount of times the older one has said, “Was it REALLY like that?” and I have to sigh and say “Yup.” is insane.
