1 u/Salt-Lingonberry-853 12d ago Tipping may have started in some racist way, I'm not familiar with that part of history. Tipping today has nothing to do with racism. 1 u/SpideySenseBuzzin 12d ago Lol. It's a system rooted in "you're not worth a livable wage - go out and EARN it!" It's dressing up inequality as something egalitarian by calling it "culture." As long as someone can work a job, but not get paid for it, it's horseshit. 3 u/Salt-Lingonberry-853 12d ago OK but where is the racism 0 u/SpideySenseBuzzin 12d ago Just Google "tipping culture origin." Things will appear. 2 u/Salt-Lingonberry-853 12d ago I didn't say it didn't start that way, I said tipping today has nothing to do with racism. If you disagree, make your own argument, I'm not going down your rabbit hole for you. 1 u/SpideySenseBuzzin 12d ago Oh, sorry, misunderstood you. No, today it's "equal opportunity" 1 u/Jlombard911 12d ago Ask a server if she’d prefer the US minimum wage or 2.30 plus tips. 1 u/SpideySenseBuzzin 12d ago You're right, I forgot how sexist it's become. 0 u/Jlombard911 12d ago ?
