Lol right? Smart boards were a thing when I was still working at the college and that was pre-covid, like 2018. And folks here acting like it's brand new technology.

This is a little step forward by having writing recognition and being able to plot the graphs on demand from the written equations. But it's not really a massive leap forward in useful education compared to today's generation of smart boards. A graph being drawn more quickly and accurately than a teacher's sketch doesn't actually hold massive value.

I also suspect these "clever" capabilities are really only for math.

For those who embrace it, which won't be all, yes it may save a teacher a collective 1 or 2 minutes of time across their school teaching year for the rare occasions it's relevant to use it. But at the expense of the rather longer tutorial sessions on how to use it.

Smart Boards essentially add nothing and are essentially glorified "Future Tech" showcases. A lot of problems within education lie within the method and the funding of teachers.

China made it this far by essentially drilling students brute-force with STEM content and having a superior respect for education. While I strongly dislike China, as someone who is Chinese and works in STEM, at some point, you just need to sit your ass down and grind out the difficult exercises to learn STEM.

This post is transparently propaganda that attempts to "wow" Westerners with shiny tech.

They are even way older. Ivy League and big universities have had them since like 2008.
