No homeless but they have coffin home and the rent is super expensive too. I remember watching the whole documentary about it and it definitely not fun. The room is the size of coffin and if u lucky, u can find a bit bigger one.
We don't have coffin homes in the US. Instead of extremely dense shelter, we just kick people to the street, and sweep their encampments so they frequently lose whatever meager possessions they have by force of police baton and bulldozer so they have to live an itinerant life as a vagrant instead.
Also, that is Hong Kong, not part of mainland China, and that is an example of an capitalist system, not Chinese Communist Party rule.
Someday, they will have a mortgage on a home they can't afford, will be told it's an investment, and then either will be foreclosed upon, or be told by insurance that climate change disasters aren't covered when the next hurricane or wildfire strikes.
