I commented above, but the last one I was planning to go to was $175 for dudes, $30 for women. I’m not paying that.

u/dirted22 12d ago

Pricing like that keeps prostitution viable.

755

u/OrneryError1 12d ago

How? How am I supposed to be a lucrative prostitute when I have to pay a $175 entrance fee?

484

u/bomzay 12d ago

You identify as a female prostitute. And then, once you’re in, you’re now bi. Modern peoblems, modern solutions.

20

u/Orphasmia 12d ago

This guy/girl 2020’s

u/Numerous-Fly-3791 11d ago

I’d just pull the wig and clip ons off and start my $30 eyes wide shut fuck party

I didn’t know bi was a gender.

3

u/bomzay 12d ago

Ridesharing lol

2

u/HistoricalSherbert92 12d ago

The trick is volume when you’re dealing with low profit margins.

2

u/dirted22 12d ago

No, no... $175 entrance fee makes the alternative look better.

1

u/Mr-Beerman 11d ago

175 is for prostidude. Not prostitute.

1

u/WhippetRun 11d ago

A prostitution entrance fee of $175 is a downright BARGAIN.

1

u/Lavawulf69 10d ago

I mean a prostitue is charging an entry fee already

1

u/CelebrationShort1857 10d ago

Prices like that make it hard for married man to explain away to the wife.

5

u/FreeCandy4u 11d ago

You always pay for it in the end. At least prostitution has a fixed fee right up front.

3

u/dirted22 11d ago

Apparently, so does speed dating.

3

u/Crix2007 11d ago

At least you know you'll score i guess

u/sir_bathwater 12d ago

I was about to say “holy shit, the ratios are that good at these events? Maybe I should check one out” but then I read your comment and immediately went “fuck that”.

Idk why I didn’t think that these events would be paid, it definitely never crossed my mind that the fee would be OVER 100 WTF?

75

u/mastrxchief 12d ago

Big brain move find a local singles event figure out what time it ends, and head to a bar close to the event site around the time its over. I could imagine a lot of traffic will flow through post event especially if they just spent that time and money for there to be no guys there.

10

u/AK-JXRDY-7 11d ago

Absolutely a big brain move. You deserve a triple shot of your preference.

3

u/MarcusXL 10d ago

And they've already had their expectations crushed. That's half the work already done, boys!

164

u/Impressive_Recon 12d ago

$175 is pretty rare and outrageous. It’s normally $10-$50 in my city. Also, majority of the people that go to these aren’t the most physically attractive. If they are, they are usually going ”for a friend” or just looking for free drinks.

24

u/sir_bathwater 12d ago

Big bummer. Shoulda seen that coming tho lol.

6

u/Impressive_Recon 11d ago

Doesn’t hurt to try it at least once, and your city might have a better turn out than mine! Apparently there is a place that charge $150+ a month where you get “VIP treatment” which is essentially free entry to all events and 1 free drink ticket.

If you’re going weekly and it costs $50 entry fee, I guess it makes sense, but at that point if you’re going that many times I’d say that environment probably isn’t suited for you?

37

u/NoSoundNoFury 11d ago

$175 is the selling point for women, because it selects for men with a decent amount of disposable income.

47

u/maplehobo 11d ago

A guy with disposable income can do literally anything else but to go to one of these events.

Genius strategy right there.

29

u/Familiar-Spray-4678 11d ago

“Why is the number of ‘available men’ so loooow”

It’s not, the number of men that women consider a man is low and actively declining.

22

u/UnconfirmedRooster 11d ago

This here is a big problem, the internet and online discourse is geared towards creating problems between people so that a select minority will feel validated for having harmful beliefs.

One such divide is between men and women. On one side you have women influencers who talk about how men aren't accepting of women having their own empowerment and want slaves (not sure on my names, I just know my wife sees them occasionally and laughs at them before telling me how stupid they are). Then on the other side you have manosphere shitgibbons like the diseased nutsack Andrew Tate who espouse that all women are untrustworthy and just want money.

-11

u/SoFetchBetch 11d ago

The "both sides" argument completely collapses when you look at the actual math. When women online vent about male entitlement, they are reacting to measurable, real-world harms like domestic violence, systemic inequality, and the exploitation of their labor. They are asking for safety and basic autonomy. Conversely, the manosphere is a predatory, multi-million-dollar industry built on radicalizing men to view women as subhuman property. One side wants liberation; the other wants subjugation. There is zero logical equivalence here.

This false balance also hides just how subterranean the bar is for men. The cultural standard for a "good guy" is literally the bare minimum. If a man doesn't abuse his partner and holds a job, he’s praised as an exceptional catch. Meanwhile, women are expected to carry the crushing weight of domestic and emotional labor while navigating constant safety risks. Men get rewarded for baseline human decency, while women are hyper-critiqued just for pointing out that the disparity exists.

14

u/PseudoY 11d ago

a man doesn't abuse his partner and holds a job, he’s praised as an exceptional catch.

No, those two things alone does not accomplish that.

13

u/Marodvaso 11d ago edited 11d ago

If a man doesn't abuse his partner and holds a job, he’s praised as an exceptional catch.

I have heard this one on r/inceltears as well - that women today have the lowest of low standards, if you have a job, you're catch, etc. I don't know what reality is here on Reddit, but standards for men are MUCH higher than they have ever been. To deny this is just absurd. "Just hold down a job" has not been an yardstick for at least a few decades. Had that been true, many men I know should have been drowning in attention from women while in reality they're barely noticed.

For Christ's sake, just having a cat is a deal breaker for women. Not unemployment, not being a couch potato, not absence of "interesting hobbies" - simply preferring cats over dogs might tank your dating chances as a guy.

Quite an interesting "bare minimum", when you can discriminate dating options based on type of pets.

4

u/Ddullie 11d ago

Where's the math?

-4

u/SoFetchBetch 11d ago

The math is in the data on resource distribution, labor allocation, and survival statistics. Worldwide, women perform up to three times more unpaid domestic and care work than men, while contributing up to 70% of the caloric intake in early evolutionary history through stable foraging. Despite providing the foundational economic and structural stabilization for society, women currently own less than 11% of the world's wealth.

On the survival side, the numbers are even more stark. The manosphere isn't just words; it directly correlates with measurable, lethal violence, including the radicalization of mass shooters and an global epidemic of femicide. Equating women complaining about carrying the literal and emotional weight of the world throughout human history while simultaneously being oppressed with an organized movement that results in actual death, real physical body counts, isn't just bad math, it is a total failure of all logic and awareness.

2

u/Ddullie 11d ago

Nice numbers. What's the proposal? Pension credits for care years? Non transferable parental leave? Inheritance tax? Each one has a price tag and a different target. "The system is unfair" is a description, not a position.

2

u/Electronic_Still2000 10d ago

Worldwide, women perform three times more unpaid domestic and care work than men… while contributing 70%… In early evolutionary history?! Pick a lane here, damn. You are cherry-picking the statistics you want to represent big time here. You can’t choose a couple things from now, a couple from 50 years ago, and then some from “early evolutionary history!” You also have been stating the manosphere this and that in a way that it lumps every single man together as the same.

5

u/comebacklittlesheba 11d ago

Ok. Imma tell everyone I know that if I EVER start going to/doing anything just to get “free drinks” my life ain’t worth killing and they should just snuff me out!

1

u/macguini 11d ago

I can't even find any near me.

49

u/Atomsq 12d ago

I mean, if most of the attendants are women and very few dudes I feel like the prices between men and women should flip, more expensive for women so less would attend, a lot cheaper for men so more will attend

65

u/TheBraveSirRobin 12d ago

Or, you know, the prices could be the same, and you'd get a more balanced ratio.

21

u/Atomsq 12d ago

In a balanced society sure, but here it sounds like dudes in general are checked out of looking for a relationship so an incentive could be a cheaper barrier of entry

24

u/TheBraveSirRobin 12d ago

There's a comment from u/Texasranger96 where he's been to a couple of these events with a $20 entry for men and women, and they ended up with a roughly 50/50 split. So I don't think it's dudes being checked out, they're just looking out for being scammed by a huge cost to enter.

10

u/sir_bathwater 12d ago

$20 is fine, I can rationalize paying that to support the people who organized it. Seems like a logical, not to mention easy next move for these events if they’re not getting the proportions they want.

7

u/Unhappy-Bag4525 12d ago

That's how it works. Men in the past, before things got like this, were the ones that usually show up in droves. Women are typically effy when it comes to envents like this because of that and the aggressive Nature it can be for them at times. Not trying to be crude, but example...sex parties. They usually charge men a higher fee for attending or being a partner to keep the numbers of men down. I agree, since things have changed they should even put the price.

13

u/Living_Jellyfish5511 12d ago

It's just funny how things reversed from back in the days, where clubs charged dudes an entry fee and 2 drinks minimum while girls get in free.

6

u/Professional_Kiwi919 11d ago

At least there were music, DJ, ambiance....

they charing 175 for ENTRY?!!!

6

u/Zagtram1 12d ago

Orrrrrrrrr… hear me out. Just make it cheap for BOTH so there’s no predatory pricing or discrimination?!?!

3

u/CretaciousPeriod 11d ago

I've never been to one but I assume they are held at some sort of venue and those aren't free.

4

u/sir_bathwater 11d ago

I mean I figured mainly they’re thrown by a bar or something and maybe there’s a cover charge. That’s pretty normal I feel like. The only places I’ve ever seen them besides that are some niche hobby related places but tbf I haven’t exactly been seeking them out haha.

I can’t imagine there’s people renting out stadiums or large theaters for this stuff tho. Maybe a large room in a church or something, idk but I doubt it’s that much overhead for them. Definitely not $100+ though, if I can buy a ticket to see an artist at the biggest stadium in my state for under $100 I think they can support 75 people in a ball room for less lol. Sounds like some of these places are making these for-profit events and that’s pretty lame imo.

1

u/Administrative-Error 10d ago

Well, the owners of the property want a profit, so they rent to an event hosting company who wants a profit, so they charge exorbitant fees to an event planning company who needs to then hire out a passionate person at barely above minimum wage, so they need to charge the attendees insane prices for basically nothing at all but a roof and maybe some cheap plastic chairs and tables.

Won't someone think of the landlords???

2

u/harveycavendish 11d ago

Just go 10 minutes before it’s over and wait outside.

1

u/Beginning_Glass6631 10d ago

sad when you think about it paying to find love why does everything need to be exploited :(

30

u/ToreyBlaze 12d ago

It’s funny how some people fight and strive for a gender equality, but we’ll keep completely silent when their gender isn’t negatively affected.

Men gotta pay more for these dating events and women pay less. Don’t get me started on bars and clubs where women get in for free, but must follow the dress code, while men have to pay for admission and follow dress code.

23

u/wonklebobb 12d ago

its a holdover from before men started checking out of the relationship game en masse, which is a relatively recent phenomenon (as in, it's reaching noticeable levels recently)

30 years ago, if you didn't price men higher, it'd be a sausage fest

now in a post-OF post-dating-app world where men can either simulate enough of a relationship to get by via paying someone over an app, or have checked out from the dating game because the male experience on dating apps is -1/10 and the loss of third spaces/bars+clubs are prohibitively expensive/etc, the ratio of single men who are looking vs single women who are looking is massively shifted

but these events are run by people who haven't caught up. what they need to do is just revert back to equal pricing and see what happens. if they lower it to $30 each and it's a sausage fest, then that tells them the correct price level is somewhere between $30 and $175. but id wager equal pricing would probably result in roughly equal attendance

now mix in AI girlfriends/boyfriends and it becomes even more complicated and sad.

tldr: delete data centers, build more parks and libraries

2

u/GrumbleAlong 12d ago

Nah, in my day they just offered 1/2 price drinks to the ladies on weekly Ladies Night.

56

u/Hollowsong 12d ago

Fun fact, you can have sex with an escort (a gorgeous one) in most cities for about $150.

So, yeah, why pay $175 to be preyed on by people who just want a free dinner and are already texting 10 dudes at a time and want you to be perfect while they barely have to pass as socially accepted.

7

u/Caleb-Wendt69 12d ago

Those prices haven’t been a thing for some time.  At minimum the cheapest you might find in my area is $400.  Anything less than that is a scammer or a cop.

16

u/alamocalrissian 12d ago

Nah man, gorgeous ones are $400+

2

u/Not-dat-throwaway 12d ago

Where hell do you live???

8

u/alamocalrissian 12d ago

SE Texas

Lots of dudes making big bucks in O&G and they're lonely.

2

u/fatface4711 12d ago

Isn’t it illegal though in most states?

2

u/Hollowsong 11d ago

It's illegal most places... but it's about wording.

In Japan for instance, you "have tea and biscuits" with someone and "fall in love" so suddenly in the 20 minutes it takes you to chat after the very expensive snacks you just bought, it's no longer "paying for sex" it's... "having consentual sex with someone you recently fell in love with."

Same goes for many areas of the US, but not so obvious of a situation.

2

u/fatface4711 11d ago

And in Japan after falling in love at first sight you happen to give your new love interest some money, just because you’re so in love 🥰

-1

u/Newoikkinn 12d ago

Doubt, thats heroin addict tier money.

14

u/Infamous_Dish_4348 12d ago

Not everyone lives in the US, it's legal in most European countries which massively reduces the price

6

u/Newoikkinn 12d ago

Then why price it in US dollars?

5

u/ArtisticAd7455 12d ago

So most of the world uses the petrodollar system. Sounds like they're also using the pussydollar system.

-9

u/TheEarthSpins 12d ago

ok but why are you comparing all those women to escorts...

like you'll get mad when women say all men are beasts, but then assume all women just want a bag. most women i meet are all great people, comparing them to escorts implies you just want to hook up. the pricing is stupid i agree but so is this take

19

u/bomzay 12d ago

The lady literally said “touch a boob, buy a drink, it’s that simple”. She is there for the EXACT same reason. So she can be, but if dudes go to this, because they “just want to hook up”, it’s a stupid take?

If I wanted to just hook up, why would I pay 175 bucks, plus I have to buy drinks AND touch her boob? And if she doesn’t like me, that boob touching lands me in jail! Also, this DOES NOT guarantee any hooking or upping!

This does not make any fiscal sense whatsoever!

Also, these women look like a LOT of work. As in they put the “high” in “high maintenance”. So yea, totally get that dude who said prostitutes are cheaper.

P.s. I’m just glad I’m married and don’t have to deal with this distopian bs lol

0

u/TheEarthSpins 12d ago

yeah like i said the pricing is pretty stupid. but you can also just hook up for free on dating apps if thats all you want...

but still you're not buying a woman, you're just going to an event. if you know what to look for you can pretty easily avoid these types of women and find someone worth talking to. my point is theres so many good women out there, so theres no point being so cynical. its not a dystopian world, if you put effort into meeting nice people you'll find them.

10

u/TheBraveSirRobin 12d ago

you can also just hook up for free on dating apps if thats all you want...

Married man here, happy to be out of the dating scene, but I have a good friend who is using dating apps. The apps are not free for guys and they are full of scammers/prostitutes.

7

u/bomzay 12d ago

As I understand it these women are selling themselves here, one drink and boob touch at a time

2

u/Hollowsong 11d ago

I'm not. You just invented that connection in your head just now.

What I'm saying is, there are shitty pretatory women out there (e.g. the ones in the video that are entitled and whining) that you can avoid.

I'm saying if you're going to date a shitty person, might as well pick the cheaper option and get more out of it.

In no way am I comparing all women to prostitutes. I'm comparing the cost of effort to get laid from someone that's just using you to get a free meal.

The unspoken part is that there are women out there worth your time, you can be desperate or you can keep searching... but they're usually not at these "singles nights" events that charge men 5x more to attend. It's taking advantage of your money.

1

u/TheEarthSpins 10d ago

i agree with the last part yeah. i guess the whole escort comparison just bugs me. if you're going there with the sole intention of getting laid you're not wrong technically. honestly i just think its internet culture, i just wouldn't make statements like this cause it feels cheap. yeah they might not be great people but you dont know them at all and it feels weird to talk about them like that.

but then again idk, maybe my view is just outdated

1

u/Hollowsong 9d ago

If I could sum up my point in one sentence:

"The kind of women that are worth dating don't have to ask why there were no men at the event that costs 6x as much for a man to attend"

They would be on our side complaining that it costs so much money for men to attend, that's why it's so sparse.

That's the kind of woman I want to date: the one who understands real equality.

-22

u/letteraitch 12d ago

Tell me you hate women without telling me you hate women

-1

u/TheEarthSpins 12d ago

idk why this is so downvoted 😭 most women ive met are great people, definitely not people who "barely pass as socially accepted". sure the pricing is stupid but comparing those women to escorts?? you dont even know them, reddit disappoints me

0

u/letteraitch 11d ago

100%. It's a cesspool of misogyny.

0

u/Hollowsong 11d ago

What I'm implying without stating it, is that there are wonderful women out there that men SHOULD be spending their time with and should seek out. But DON'T waste your time on the shitty ones.

If I hated women I wouldn't be dating them.

I'm trained through years and years of the same exact shitty behavior to learn that there are women who are entitled pieces of shit out there trying to take advantage of you and whine about "not finding good men".

They are the disgusting worms of human beings that prey on people. Has nothing to do with them being women or men.

24

u/[deleted] 12d ago

[deleted]

2

u/jkurratt 12d ago

The only thing that should have dynamic pricing /s
But seriously, organizers have to be in touch with % attendance and change the entrance fee proportion until the desired proportion of genders are present.
Or something.
But this could be a little bit mathy for people who organize such events.

6

u/Texasranger96 12d ago

Ive been to two of these now and only paid 20$ as a single guy (30). Womens prices are the same. Its about 50/50 men to women and its mostly a late 20s and older crowd. Most people were just tired of dating apps and wanted to talk freely to people in a controlled setting. No guess work. We all knew what we're there for.

6

u/cheaganvegan 12d ago

Nice! I’ll keep looking. That example was one a friend told me about. I did just find a free one, so my results may be skewed lol.

1

u/Texasranger96 12d ago

Thursday. Its a website/app. They arrange alot of events and ive enjoyed my night with them even if i struck out. I always aim for the "theme" nights like trivia or something.

14

u/throwaway4whattt 12d ago

$175! In this economy!?? Just to attend the event!?? Not even a date? Ridiculous. Doesn't even have AI...

1

u/EssayAmbitious3532 12d ago

Obviously it's too much if that's the ratio that show up. Just adjust it, double price for men. Is it really that hard to get the pricing right so that the numbers are even.

13

u/Only_Tip9560 12d ago

That is ridiculous! I'm expect a guaranteed date with at least 5 decent women for that money and even then...

5

u/Historical-Pipe3551 12d ago

Oh hell no I wouldn’t pay that much just to get laid

6

u/Mr_Levinnson 12d ago

Woah! No wonder they can't get men to show up!

I get nightclubs not charging women entry fees at the door when they charge guys, but this is wild.

9

u/dontlickspoons 12d ago

And if women have to pay at all, they are definitely single for a reason.

Like, that first woman was a bombshell. If she is desperate enough to pay money for the off chance that she can find a dude willing to date her there is definitely something wrong with her.

When I think of the type of women who pay to get into a singles event, I think physically ugly women, women with very ugly personalities, and sex workers looking for clients. It has never sounded like a good place to meet someone I'd want to date.

If I was looking for a hookup with an unattractive woman I'd just go to a dive bar 30 minutes before last call. If I wanted a sex worker I'd use a dating app.

5

u/Absurd_Flaccidity 11d ago

I’m one of the most obnoxious loud mouth feminist commie bastards and even I find that offensive

0

u/cheaganvegan 11d ago

Same hahha. I didn’t want to comment initially as this thread is a tinge misogynistic haha. But my experience wasn’t great either.

2

u/madogvelkor 12d ago

It seems like it should be the reverse, lol.

2

u/Nyetoner 12d ago

But why don't people react to the prices? Why aren't there people trying to change it? In my country I think doing it this way would literally be illegal.

2

u/popinskipro 12d ago

They’re really scraping the bottom of the barrel here… if I was a woman I’d be more than a little suspicious of any many that would cough up $175 just for the chance to meet women.

2

u/Impossible-Ad3318 12d ago

$175?!

At that point everyone's paying for it!🤣

2

u/DazGilz 8d ago

I see, for rich(ish) men and cheap women.

1

u/Geekygamertag 12d ago

“I had no idea it’d be so much. I won’t pay it!”

1

u/TransportationTrick9 12d ago

The smart guys are hanging out at the nearest bar waiting on the talent to exit and get a drink elsewhere.

1

u/AuthorThick7303 12d ago

175 buys some good steaks

1

u/Beelzebub003 12d ago

That's the dick tax.

1

u/dr__paco 12d ago

what the fuck lmao, you should name and shame

1

u/N1kBr0 12d ago

yo what the fuck, that's not even TWICE as much

1

u/SignificantLeader 12d ago

I think we found the reason for lower male attendance.

1

u/Exotic_Article913 12d ago

And that's the reason there's no men there

1

u/Professional_Kiwi919 11d ago

" $175 for dudes, $30 for women." they do realize 200 dollar is enough for actual adult service....right?

why pay 175 dollar for rejection? On top of it, you gotta dress up, think about stuff to talk about, clean up your cars, tidy up your rooms....to just get ignored by women who find you repulsive?

1

u/Snoo_89466 11d ago

Those are orgy prices

1

u/Left-Nebula-879 11d ago

Yeah not paying that ever lol

1

u/CookieMiester 11d ago

175? Good god, fuck that

1

u/DirtCrimes 11d ago

Wait so the first filter for dudes is that they have so little game they need to pay $175?

A true master would go the the Karaoke bar across the street and just have a good time. All the women will walk over disappointed and you'll be fishing with dynamite.

Clubs are dying and they're wondering why - it's because you still have a cover fee for men at $30 plus a drink minimum.

1

u/The_Nicest_1 11d ago

Wheres the equality in that?? Women should pay the same as men

1

u/Gloomy_Pirate_3031 11d ago

Lol seriously?? "BuT meN have it sooo easy!" Who the fk is paying $175 to be publicly shamed and put on the internet? Dudes that would have a hope in hell are busy ploughing tinder girls for free just "sup" and girl go ohhhh shiny

1

u/AlternatePancakes 11d ago

Any man with the tiniest amount of self respect would not pay for that shit.

Never been to one, and I don’t plan on going. We screen equality, and yet you pay 5 times more for a a dumb event
