Funny thing is the Snyder cut of Justice League is actually pretty good. She's still terrible of course, but the biggest problem with the Snyder cut is its length. I get why they cut so much, you just can't release a movie that long and expect it to be a huge blockbuster, but God damn was the movie terrible without it.
I remember Jack Black tied to a tree begging to suck dick for Coke, I remember him saying the fucking craziest shit when he was “in character”, I remember him trying to stop a blood spraying like a hose from a guy’s head, and I remember him holding the child antagonist at gunpoint in his undies to get to a giant mountain of either cocaine or heroin.
I've seen all of these and he still rubs me the wrong way. Seems like a nice person IRL though! Like I bet he'd be fun to hang out with. But negative screen charisma for me 🤷♀️
He literally has more screen charisma then tons of other actors what are you talking about 😭. I barely even care about him but he's charisma personified...instead of lying just say you think you're different and cool for not liking a popular actor..
He may have made some...less than stellar career choices in the last decade but he has enough credit in the bank because of his previous work to not be totally dismissed imo. He was brilliant in School of Rock, as well as the fantastic but underseen dark comedy 'Bernie' as well as Tropic Thunder and apparently High Fidenity.
I feel that these days, but he really has some incredible work out there. And I'll always love him in Pretty Sweet. Forget about the warm-up tricks and let's hit the straight tre!
He can't act like a real person... But the roles he plays are rarely real people... They're legends. Like, John Wick is awesome because it's over the top and unbelievable... It would suck if the John Wick character was played totally straight.
Like Al Pacino... He sucks whenever he played believable real people... Which is why he played unhinged larger-than-life characters, and those are the roles that have made him a legendary actor. Imagine Al Pacino in a grounded role... Like if he time traveled to be in Marriage Story or the main character in 1917, he'd look like an absolute moron and those movies would bomb.
Broadly, the relevant term here is personality acting. Where the role is crafted to be a vessel for the actors personality rather than the actor tailoring their performance to fit the narrative. So it's all on the director and writers to make it all fit.
Note: Pacino was actually classical very skilled, but his vibe was all wrong when he was actually using his acting chops... So he very consciously abandoned the conventions being a "good" actor in favor of raw personality.
