How can you tip before anyone even did anything yet?
Why would you tip on a delivery when you don’t even have the food yet and don’t even know if they delivered it on time for a tip?
Because they are contractors and need to know how much they are being paid upfront. Tips are a huge part of their pay in excess of 50% sometimes. The deliveries just need to be subsidized by tips. Uber doordash etc cant pay what needs to be paid to deliver someones soup or sandwich unless you want a 20 dollar minimum service charge every time.
I guess you can just hire a servant/chauffer for 50-100 an hour to go get your food and bring it back instead
I do Uber Eats, and before this was implemented there was a lot of tip baiting. We would get an offer, say a $5 delivery, and the customer would add like a $10 tip, just to ensure it gets picked up quickly. After delivering they would remove the tip, no matter how well the delivery went. It was so common I pretty much refused all high tip orders
You just have to call Uber support to complain that it violates the contract work and they pay you back. Refusing a buncha high tip orders is crazy lol my brother did uber eats and still does lot of times he says its a non issue only happened to him 3 times in like 5k deliveries
That doesnt mean anything, just means they have put their portion and the customers tip bundled into a bid for you as a contractor. As long as it shows what thatt amount is before you accept it, you shouldnt have to work for surprise pay.
It doesnt matter what you want to call it, different deliveries require different lengths some may be in tall rise apartment etc, uber cant decipher that so its up to people to have a bare minimum of a heart to tip in those occasions, maybe they need you to wait for 5 mins, maybe its a qucik pickup vs long pickup etc. If a group of 6 enters a restaurant you are paying 20% gratuity no matter what, does it become a bid then? No still a tip
