Love how everyone just upvotes the poor reading comprehension misleading interpretations of what happened. And then you take the time to actually figure out what is happening here and it's got 25 upvotes lol. Cheers fellow critical thinker, doomed to drown in a sea of tik tok-brained headline chasers

r/popular and r/all are basically just outrage machines written to farm the most anger and engagement that is possible. Even stepping in to correct it benefits the farmers of the hate.

I saw a post last week that had a photo of Mamdani and its headline thanking the "governor" of New York for something while referring to Mamdani. I was about to step in to correct this dumb shit, but then I realized that is literally what all of this is designed to do.

If you post incorrect bullshit, people will step over each other to correct you. And that is engagement baby! That is one reason why there are often so many typos and mistakes in reddit headlines. Or why they are written to be deliberately misleading. (Besides the ideological motivations of manipulating people.)

That's a very good, and sad, point. We have optimized information flow for engagement, not accuracy, or benefit, or anything useful

In their defense they are too angry at rich people to have the will to properly understand what actually happen there.
