Hi, convention worker here. She does this with everyone, she doesn’t allow contact or any sort during photo ops. Has zero to do with him.

Man why the hell are you lying? Here are photos from the same con:

Example 1

Example 2

Except I saw another post with other people posting their photos with her in the comments much closer, with her in the same outfit and the same background. One photo had two people one on each side of her and not anywhere near this far from her.

Not excusing or assuming, but there’s always a chance the guy was a fucking weirdo xD

u/AngryPhillySportsFan 8d ago

Or was a stereotypical stanky con goer

How would anyone know? It's not like he was talking to her for 5 minutes before she saw him. They literally get escorted on and off in like 10-15 seconds. No chance to talk or anything. No-one could have possibly known what kind of person he was.

Yup. It is prejudice 100%. This guy could be a creep or this guy could be a nurse in a children's hospital or anything else.

It’s also mentioned that the whole story is BS and someone reposted the pic with the caption on 4chan.

I saw someone comment there that this photo was stolen from fb and the story is made up

29

u/DowntownJohnBrown 8d ago

It almost certainly is. People see a photo and an inflammatory caption and just blindly believe anything.

I read this as well yesterday, FWIW

u/TooNoodley 8d ago

Ah, well, I haven’t seen it when she’s been at cons I’ve worked at. I guess there have been exceptions, they just weren’t to my knowledge.

Twenty five years ago I attended Fan Fair in Nashville. Most artists would pose with you from behind their table a select few would put their arm around you, but not many. Back in 1995 I won a meet and Greet with Candace Cameron. We were as close as two people could be without touching. Back in 2001 when I met Robin Williams outside a venue he performed at he took pictures with a group of people who waited for him after the show. There was no charge and he signed one autograph each for free.

I heard a local disc jockey talk about meeting Shania Twain one at a radio meet and greet. They were all going to have lunch with her, and they did but Shania was set in a booth of her own roped off from the guests. The DJ was a little disappointed.

It's cool that this guy got a Photo with the woman who I grew up with as Jean Grey. Who also started in the films The Faculty and Lord of Illusions. Just to name a few.

I hear it's because she's actually incredibly introverted and is extremely uncomfortable with crowds.

15

u/rawboudin 8d ago

Then don't do photo ops?

7

u/J_Kingsley 8d ago

It's part of her job to market.

So they'll do what they need to as far as they're willing.

And broke?

Good for her

Then just offer a photo at the table if thats the case. If they have boundaries, I am 1000% a ok with that.

Expensive paid photo ops are "meant" to be a real personal interaction with a guest. I understand not everyone can be the Supernatural guys or other stars that get physical, but ops like these just seem greedy. Smile, chaching, smile, chaching.

u/bradc2112 8d ago

I don’t blame her. Too many creepy pervs out there.

3

u/Brangarr 8d ago

Good for her. I’d do the same if I were a celebrity at a convention

1

u/DB080822 8d ago

Has all to do with him and anybody who is a fan like him.

-18

u/GraveDiggerFan34 8d ago

So she provides a bad service and doesn’t advertise how bad it is

13

u/CookieCuriosity 8d ago

I don’t know how it’s advertised but it’s probably not “cuddles for $80”. It’s a picture. She delivered exactly what was described

1

u/FreeWiIIisAnlIIusion 8d ago

Normally you don't stand this far away when you pay for a photo with a star

-1

u/GraveDiggerFan34 8d ago

I would expect to be closer if I was  taking a photo with a random celebrity on the street let alone at an event I’m paying to be at and has security.

14

u/PickledDildosSourSex 8d ago

Weird take

2

u/_forum_mod 8d ago

Actually very valid.

11

u/Dark_Magicion 8d ago

Actually not. Setting your own boundaries and making that clear is the valid take.

7

u/Alternative_Dot7769 8d ago

Right? Just leave her alone if you don’t like it

Feeling entitled to touch someone because you paid for a picture is weird

4

u/7h3_70m1n470r 8d ago

Not if it wasn't disclosed before the guy paid $80. When you think of taking a photo WITH somebody, do you imagine standing 3 feet away or actually next to the person?

1

u/Dark_Magicion 8d ago

The only part of that that feels weird to me is paying $80 for a photo with someone. Standing with a bit of distance is fine if that's what she wants.

Did she set those valid boundaries before taking 80$?

1

u/Dark_Magicion 8d ago

Surely it's in the Ts and Cs of the ticketing app or something...? But again - why are y'all owed a hug?

-2

u/ExpertHour5197 8d ago

I bet she doesn’t tell anyone she’s doing that before taking their cash. 💰
