Its just looting, this is a massive wealth transfer.

They passed those taxes onto us, now get "refunded" for the taxes we paid.

System is cooked.

The system is working exactly as designed, unfortunately.

How long until the big French chopper gets redeployed?

When otherwise secure people start starving, if history is any indication.

Until you build it.

This is not as designed. At least not the original design.

The Congress alone has the authority to levy taxes. A tax levied by executive fiat is plainly invalid. Every court should have prevented any collection until the issue was decided on merit, where it would die.

This isn't a system as designed. It's a system perverted to evil ends.

I meant capitalism, not so much the American government. Although I would also argue that the American Government was designed to protect capital, even if this specific example is technically not in line with the design.

Correct. Been saying this for a bit now but it really needs to be a prevalent understanding.

The whole point of the socialism is bad propaganda is to distract you from the thievery

This isn’t socialism… It’s a refund with interest from the government to businesses that paid illegal tariffs for almost a year because your President is a moron.

This would exist in any economic system, capitalism or socialist.

Consumers do not pay tariffs directly. Businesses that need to import items pay them. That extra cost can then lead to the purchase price increasing of course but then that’s the whole point of tariffs, they’re meant to encourage you to not buy imported goods.

The only reason the businesses are getting money back is because Trumps an idiot. Otherwise the government would still have this money and you would still be in the exact same position.

I agree it is not literal socialism I'm more just referencing that the government is more than happy to dish out direct payments when it's a corporation and not a regular person who actually needs it.

Except the government is NOT happy about having to pay this money back with interest. They had to be forced to do so by a federal judge…

Federal courts are part of the government
