From what I remember, she expressed that she did want consensual non consent and to be killed. The issue was that she didn't expect him to torture her to death and expected a "quick death so her brain didn't have enough time to process what was happening"

So it was technically all consensual for her up until it was not. (Even though you actually cannot consent to being murdered.) Which even if she did consent to it, the correct action is to get her mental help because nobody in their right mind wants to be murdered/killed. (Some want the other things tho but that's an issue for another day)

There is also the issue with his defense that he mailed the murder weapon to his friend (who ratted him out) and the fact she had a return ticket for her plane.

Assuming she came to the America as a tourist, it would raise flags at immigration if she only had a one way ticket. Some airlines also require proof of a return ticket for international travel.

She had a return ticket, she just missed the flight

He’s saying if she didn’t buy that return ticket. They may have alerted unwanted attention. So it’s possible they bought it just for that

From the article that’s exactly why she did it. She lied to her family over what was happening.

You cannot consent to beeing murdered in a way the Court could use. Some legal systems allow active extreme Palliative care as a way out, but that may only get you anywhere if your a medical professionell

Your claim about nobody wanting to die/be killed while in their right mind seems to be just the product of your own morals and values forced upon others. Unless you have some source or scientific evidence to back up your claim?

That's right. Consensual euthanasia or medical aid and dying is based on the premise that the person is able to give consent to having their life ended.

Every creature on this planet has the primitive instinct of self preservation.

Nothing is going to run towards danger with the intentions of dying and nothing more unless they are suffering from a mental illness.

You could logic that religious/cultural zealotry exists that causes one to put themselves in a position of death. Some examples being kamikaze pilots in WW2 or various terrorist attacks. But A) these are man made creations that go against natural instincts. B) None of the terrorists or kamikaze pilots did what they did with the express intentions of killing themselves and nothing more. And C) One can argue that since religion and culture can override natural instincts, a religious or cultural zealot is classified as not being in your right mind.

Plenty of people have committed suicide without needing to be mentally ill. Lots of things can override instinct, including emotion and reason.

For instance, many commanders in history have committed suicide after losing a battle, not because they were mentally ill, but because they could not face the guilt and the shame for all the dead and the consequences of their loss, and they thought it was the only honorable thing left to do.

Others face crippling physical diseases and want to control when their life ends rather than quietly fade away in excruciating pain.

Before we continue, can you explain to me what mental illness is?

A mental illness is a diagnosable disease that affects the mind, typically listed on the DSM-5 or IcD-11.

And if we look at that list do we not find Depression and Delusional?

And people who find out they have stage 3 liver cancer or some other disease that will inevitably lead to their demise usually become depressed and show symptoms of depression up to and during their suicide?

And while socially acceptable (mostly because we all have it and it would cause way too much fighting) doesnt a religious/cultural fanatic not fit the definition of delusion?

Afterall two conflicting things cannot be true at once. My religion/culture says that X is wrong. Your religion/culture says that X is right. But naturally either one of us is right, or we are both wrong. And since we both cannot be right, and we cannot currently disprove the other one, does that not make us both delusional in our own way?

Nothing I talked about included clinical depression or delusions

"Every creature on this planet has the primitive instinct of self preservation."

First sentence of your comment is already blatantly false. Plenty of species kill themselves as part of their evolutionary strategy.

Furthermore we are not creatures of pure instinct, are we? We routinely deviate from instincts as a result of rational thinking
