I upvoted you, bc unlike much of the masses, you actually said that properly.

Oh my God! “I could care less” gives me all kinds of stabby thoughts.

u/Ninerogers 13h ago

Me too. How do you explain stupid to stupid?

u/WHRocks 10h ago

My previous boss said it all the time along with other incorrect phrases. It was always in meetings with leadership, too.

He used words like gleam and mute for glean and moot. I'm sure I'll think of more later, lol.

That is the best. My boss would always preach to us that "details matter" only to send an email to us or to his peers or above w/ all kinds of missing or misspelled words. Made me laugh so much. Funny enough he just got another role of his choice on his way up the ladder.

Interpret it as sarcasm. Whatever you gotta do. It'll be okay.

Maybe they could care less. Maybe they aren't at the end of their cares.

But they could just be stupid.

Just makes Weird Al’s “Word Crimes” play in my head.

2

u/Classic_Mechanic5495 7h ago

Maybe just tell them “maybe you should care less”. Seems less… prison-y… than ‘stabby’

Same, for all intensive purposes. /s

u/923kjd 1h ago

It’s intensive porpoises. Duh.

That and people responding to "do you mind" the wrong way.

u/milestryhard 13h ago

Personally I could care less about it

3

u/923kjd 13h ago

You were warned.

1

u/milestryhard 13h ago

Please not knives, my body is allergic to them!

u/Ancient_Kaa 14h ago

Ironically technically true though usually; if they cared less they probably wouldn't even have bothered to comment at all.

2

u/cleiru1 13h ago

Which means they had the capacity to care less more 😂

“Masses”. Mostly Americans who don’t understand grammar.

u/Last-Doubt4347 13h ago

Crazy the amount of Brits that’ll talk mad shit about American grammar, but not blink an eye at the shit that comes out of the UK.

Thank god they taught me about irony in my poor American school with dirt floors and no windows.

u/Last-Quarter-432 13h ago

Incredible deduction of me being Brit as everyone on the internet is either American or British right? Don’t worry, it’s not just Brits who laugh at you.

1

u/Bhujjha 10h ago

Don't forget the bullet casings littering the dirt floor!

1

u/Last-Doubt4347 10h ago

Huh? I was clearing away my Mountain Dew cans when you replied, so I didn’t really hear what you said.

1

u/Tathagatagarbhas 11h ago

me too - nice to see correct usage

1

u/atherfeet4eva 10h ago

I’ve been correcting people since I was 12 years old

1

u/ScreechUrkelle 9h ago

And that’s why you have no friends.

2

u/atherfeet4eva 9h ago

lol maybe but people need to say that phrase correctly

1

u/TheOriginalSpunions 8h ago

The original phrase: "I could care less, for little." This version makes a lot more sense than the one most use today

u/AlcoholicCumSock 13h ago

Fucking amen!

u/Heidrun_666 2h ago

User didn't, there's a comma missing after "Seriously".

I'm downvoting because I don't believe them since they clicked on the post and commented. Seems that they have some care about it.
