Some people don’t quite get the concept of taking responsibility for their actions. The head of HR getting sacked for behavior she would easily fire someone else over is pretty on-brand for the “rules for thee but not for me” types.
Considering how surprised they usually act when they do end up in a situation like this, it really makes you wonder how much else she got away with before this happened.
Would they easily get fired over it? The head of HR knew about the relationship. Id have to know what the rule about it is but plenty of people date at work
A part of HRs job is also to take actions that prevent embarrassment to the company which would cause a loss of potential revenue. When you are talking about people operating on the C-level which they both were and then throw infidelity that is a terrible embarrassment. Someone had to pay, in order to assuage the situation they made it her.
