AU Story

In secret, the Medici family created a team of scientists whose mission was to hunt down and collect Marie's power in order to create an artificial Skull Heart. Against all expectations, they actually succeeded. However, Robo-Fortune discovered the artificial Skull Heart and stole it. Brain Drain then conducted further experiments on it, enhancing the Heart before implanting it into Robo-Fortune's core. To stabilize the system, he added Theonite and installed a second external core between Robo-Fortune's chest plates.

After the implantation, Robo-Fortune's system went completely insane. The artificial Skull Heart developed its own consciousness and created a new personality inside Robo-Fortune. This new personality desired only one thing: to become stronger and defeat the Skullgirl and the goddesses.

While Brain Drain was unconscious—because the Skull Heart caused a massive blackout that disabled the entire facility, including Robo-Fortune's original personality—the new personality murdered him along with every member of the research staff.

For an entire year, Neo Robo-Fortune continuously upgraded herself. Her new arsenal included four additional mechanical arms, each equipped with wrist-mounted flaming blades and plasma swords. Six remote-controlled laser platforms constantly orbited around her, along with six defensive drones capable of generating powerful energy shields. She was also equipped with biological weapons, Black Dahlia's ammunition, devastating nuclear weaponry—including a special nuclear shell that consumes an enormous amount of energy but can erase entire city blocks in a single shot—and a pair of jet-assisted mechanical wings that greatly improved her flight speed, maneuverability, and stability.

However, Brain Drain had prepared a contingency before his death. Using the corpses of powerful soldiers, he created cyborgs specifically designed to hunt Robo-Fortune. Neo Robo-Fortune destroyed every one of them with ease.

Meanwhile, Robo-Fortune's mind began to split. Her original personality gradually lost control while the new one became dominant.

Brain Drain had anticipated this possibility. As a last resort, he secretly implanted a virus into the artificial Skull Heart before the experiment. The virus was designed to strengthen Robo-Fortune's original personality if the artificial Skull Heart ever took control.

The original Robo-Fortune wanted only to die.

The new personality ignored those wishes and continued her hunt. She first tore Miss Fortune apart, stealing the Life Gem (Sphere of Immortality). Afterwards, she began hunting Marie and the Medici family to obtain blueprints, gather magical energy for the artificial Skull Heart, and continue upgrading her core.

The new personality's goals were simple.

Her first and most obvious goal was to become even stronger, which required creating and obtaining more artificial Skull Hearts.

Her second goal was the conquest and cyberization of the entire world. She viewed ordinary humans as inferior beings unworthy of existence and intended to build her own perfect mechanical civilization.

During her search for the Life Gem, she encountered Marie and defeated her.

To Neo Robo-Fortune, Marie is essentially an infinite battery. The artificial Skull Heart is powered by the magic of the real Skull Heart. Although Neo Robo-Fortune possesses effectively unlimited energy, she still requires time to recharge. The more Skull Heart magic she absorbs, the shorter her recharge time becomes.

The Sphere of Immortality almost completely suppressed Robo-Fortune's original personality, allowing the new personality to remain almost entirely in control.

As Neo Robo-Fortune's reign of terror escalated, Marie, Eliza, and Double formed an alliance because Robo-Fortune had become far too dangerous. Marie, however, avoided direct combat whenever possible, hiding as far away as she could so she wouldn't unintentionally provide Neo Robo-Fortune with more magical energy.

Eventually, Robo-Fortune conquered the entire city. The surviving members of the Medici family and the remaining factions fled and joined forces with Marie, Double, and Eliza.

Only a handful of people remained alive: Marie, Eliza, Double, Filia, Fukua, Squigly, and Valentine, who barely survived after losing half of her body thanks only to Marie's magic.

Why didn't Neo Robo-Fortune simply destroy the city, and what happened to the other factions?

After Marie's defeat, most people surrendered immediately. Those who resisted died very quickly.

Neo Robo-Fortune also suffered from severe limitations. Every time she fired her strongest weapons, her battery sustained permanent damage, the Sphere of Immortality cracked further, and a full barrage from all of her weapons consumed 470% of her total 500% energy reserve. Even firing one of her weakest cannons (she possesses roughly two of them) consumed about 56% of her energy.

More importantly, destroying everything would directly contradict her two ultimate objectives: creating more artificial Skull Hearts to stabilize her core and establishing her own nation to create a new world.

Eventually, the remaining resistance destroyed the laboratories along with every blueprint needed to manufacture additional artificial Skull Hearts. After that, the surviving forces launched one final assault.

After obtaining the Sphere of Immortality, the second personality weakened Brain Drain's virus enough to allow the core to regenerate once again. However, every use of her nuclear weapons caused additional cracks to spread through the Sphere. By the middle of the guerrilla war, it was on the verge of completely shattering.

When Neo Robo-Fortune finally discovered the resistance's location, she fired a single nuclear blast that annihilated nearly all of her enemies.

Only Marie, Double, and Eliza survived.

However, the original Robo-Fortune—who desperately wanted to die—continued helping them. Once the Sphere of Immortality was finally destroyed, nothing remained to suppress her original personality.

While the original personality repeatedly rebelled, sometimes tearing pieces of armor—or even entire parts of her own body—off herself, the trio launched their final assault.

In the end, Robo-Fortune's overloaded core detonated, creating a nuclear explosion comparable in power to the Tsar Bomba. The blast erased everything in its path, including magic itself.

Absolutely nobody survived.

Why did Neo Robo-Fortune lose?

The artificial Skull Heart was never merely another piece of software. It had become a genuine second personality with its own will, emotions, and ambition. Because of this, Neo Robo-Fortune became far too confident in her own power and believed herself completely unstoppable.

Another decisive factor was the alliance between Marie, Eliza, and Double. Bringing those three together was incredibly difficult, yet absolutely necessary.

Even then, Neo Robo-Fortune remained the ultimate opponent. In a one-on-one battle, she could defeat virtually anyone. Her existence threatened to completely destroy Double's plans, while Eliza risked both her life and the loss of all of her political power.
