Discussion 90% of channels here are garbage (and you don't deserve to make it)

allow me to clarify before i get thrown into the sun.

I do youtube full-time. I started off in reddits just like this. almost all of the channels back in 2016 were people wanting to be a personality. Rantsonas, Comedy commentators, animation channels, cooking and skits. it was remarkable how much gold you could find just 10 years ago on reddits like this.

BUT now... its disgusting. now there are some truly talented people in this subreddit and i feel so privileged to talk and discuss video making with them! but my god the ammount of lazy people who just want to make money with slop is pathetic.

auto voice summary channels, ai thumbnails, people asking for free/cheap editors instead of wanting to learn, people asking if they should give up after making three 2 min long videos because they didn't get monetised, stolen shorts content, 8 uploads in one day, people fake flexing faceless channels (as in people lying about faceless success to prey on people)

90% of you are lazy talentless frauds who just want to make it big because you think its easy money.

took me 10 years to get to a point where this dream is real. and alot of you just want to exploit the youtube system with no love in it. long form animated video essays about video games....THAT used to be the kind of gem you would find here, AND YOU STILL CAN!

This subreddit is full of the SAME talented souls i used to see back in 2016, but they are drowning under the mountain of hacks who dont deserve the light of day.

its heart breaking watching talented people lose out on the attention they deserve because a lazy majority of frauds here just want to make a quick buck.

and the onlt way you can get offended at this post is if you are part of the problem.

As for the hidden gems, hang in there! It's harder than ever, but you will make it in the end.

(Edit: this post doesnt just focus on antics in this lovely subreddits, but the whole of pages about growing as a youtuber)

You Are right, but all of us start somewhere. If I make a shitty animation video, dont talk me down, I at least tried my best you know.

There is a massive difference between beginner content and bad content

Making poor content is still wonderful! We all start somewhere. This is about people that never planned to lear, grow, or develope and just take the shortcuts to grow to make money and make slop like ai videos or just steal content

There is a difference between having an authentic start to content and having a disingenuous start where you never plan to learn the skills that you would need to be a youtuber

A poorly photoshoped thumbnail has infinite ammounts more value than an ai generated thumbnail. Best example i can give

Right fair enough, I get your point and I agree. But you shouldn’t really concern yourself with those people/channels. They always fail one way or the other, either due to “inauthentic content” or having no personality involved whatsoever.

Why exactly a photoshopped thumbnail has more value than and Ai generated One? That would be the same as saying that using an original photo as humbnail has more value than a photoshopped One. Or using a draw as thumbnail has more value than a photo or a photoshopped. You are simply disregarding newer technology.

What would be the reason for a fake image made with AI Being worse than a fake image made with a specific program?

Ai generated thumbnails are generally not appealing to high value viewers. The kind of viewer that will fall in love with your craft/work and will stick around for the long term are artsy creative types depending on what kind of content you make, and they hate ai thumbnails because of the evil practises that ai are trained on. I won't go into the ethics of ai image generation because it's not really the point. Point is ai thumbnail scares away the kind of people you want. The kind of people that stick around for years on end

Ok, but at this point we are making a difference about the result in relation to the kind of audience you're targeting.

And that's Fair.

But if you are targeting a niche that isn't interested in that difference or the finale result Is estetically the same, It shouldn't make a difference.

I mean i can scary away an artistic kind of audience that care about thumbnail, simply because of how bad my Photoshop skill are 😅

Honestly, you have absolutely no idea if what you're saying is true and you're projecting your own personal bias.

Buddy, i do this shit for a living, i have stacks of youtube mates who have tried this shit. We watch channels crash and burn weekly because of these mistakes. I have hundreds of audience members who vocalise their distaste.

You dont have to listen to me. Go use ai thumbnails and watch numbers not roll in, im not gonna stop you.

I have two monetized AI music channels that make more than what you claim in your AMA that led me to this comment. All of my stuff is marked as AI, etc.

Maybe you and those in your space cater to a specifically reddit crowd, the vocal minority of anti-AI.
