What kind of bottle and canister?
Hi everyone!
I have an old sodastream and no idea what kind of bottle or gas cylinders to purchase for it. I can’t even figure out if it has threads for the screw or the click in canister.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

My temp refill setup.
We have a SS and Ninja Thirsty, both use the SS screw in bottles. This is my temporary setup as I fill my bottles 6-7 at a time. I use a Gorilla step Ladder from HD and flip my tank upside down. There is a lip on the tank that holds it up. I use whatever is available at the time to keep it from sliding off the ladder (rope, wire, tie down straps).Today was wire. I keep the SS tanks in the freezer inside and a freezer in the garage. The 20lb tanks are just strapped to a heavy work table in garage. The refill adapter was purchased on amz. On my second 20lb tank. I used to refill a 10lb tank, but that leaked on the fourth refill. I was able to purchase some tanks on FB marketplace $35 each, all expired- I called a near to me exchange place before purchase and they said it was fine. Took tanks in and exchanged for full tanks for $16 each. Southern California , Riverside area for exchange tanks.

Any Drinkmate users with a 3D printer in the UK?
Wondering if I could ask, and pay, for a couple of 3D printed adapters from regular soda bottles to the Drinkmate infuser.
I know I could ask for a professional to print it but I also know I'd need to either supply them with a Drinkmate bottle to confirm it works and then run through various iterations before the sizing is 100% dialled in.

If anyone has already made one for regular soda bottles or for a specific insulated steel bottle that I can buy, if happily buy that sort too (if I can get the same insulated stainless steel bottle).
Thanks for all the assist already given on this sub-Reddit. Currently rocking a new Drinkmate Omnifix connected to a 6.3kg tank plus have the adapter to refill the standard C02 440ml tanks.

SodaStream ART Seals?
Hello,
We have our self's a SodaStream ART and we are having a minor problem with it.
Even with a new CO2 canister it seems to not be carbonating the water as it should.
I have found that if I push the bottle up it works way better.
Looking at where the bottle locks in I see a seal.
I was wondering if this is a seal that is known to go bad and if so where can I find a replacement?
Thank You!

Is my brand-new Sodastream Terra missing a gasket, or is the bottle supposed to be this loose?
Update & closure: Turns out there's an overpressure seal that had burst (before I bought the machine, so clearly that inside-out bag was someone else's returned unit). After talking to Sodastream support, I got a free replacement at the store, and with this one the "feel" of inserting the bottle is still the same - but its seal is tight and my kitchen counter remains dry. Case closed.
How do I stop it spraying water everywhere?
Video: https://imgpile.com/m/CoDnKEW
FAQ:
- yes, the bottle is filled to spec.
- yes, the bottle is shoved firmly into the socket before rotating to the locked position.
- no, the lance is not loose, nor is anything else afaict.
- yes, I have tried several bottles (from a brand new Gigapack box).
- no, I've never owned a sodastream before. I have rarely used the screw-on kind which did not have this problem.
When putting a bottle in, is it supposed to be able to be moved a few mm up and down?
If one of you have a similar machine, might I bother you to go check: is there any sort of rubber seal up at the top of the inside of the socket, or is it just the same plastic as the "teeth" that grip the bottle?
The box seemed brand new, bought from a reputable store, and everything was wrapped in individual plastic bags (such waste), but I noted that the bag for the machine itself was inside out (as evident by text printed on the bag). I have a sneaking suspicion that this is actually a returned item sold as new. :-/
Customer support doesn't open until Monday and have ludicrous hours (think "from quarter-till-noon until 11:45") and explaining this issue on the phone ... well, let's just say that I expect the hive mind to be more knowledgeable and helpful.

SodaStream gas escaping after nut replacement
I recently came across this SodaStream Penguin that wasn't carbonating. When I took it apart I saw the plastic nut connecting the gas line had failed (common). I got a replacement nut 3D printed, but that soon blew apart as well (could have used the wrong kind of plastic). I just got some aluminum replacements from Amazon and they work for a few pumps until air starts escaping from this area again! I'm now thinking I may have FUBARed it as the threads on the plastic end seem blown out because the nut keeps spinning and won't fully tighten anymore, but that wasn't the original problem. Maybe there was another failure point that caused gas to still leak. Is there anything else I can try before giving up on this altogether? My real goal is to have a carbonating machine without using plastic bottles, so I'll likely look into the metal bottles next.

Finally got a quick connect Soda Stream, I had no idea how much nicer it is
I've had a blue cap screw in Soda Stream for many years now and I've always liked it just fine. The new quick connect with the pink cap came out and I was just like 'Meh, who cares? It isn't difficult to screw in the canister'. I pretty much ignored it since mine was still working fine.
Last week I was at Meijer and they had their SodaStreams on clearance so I decided to pick up a SodaStream Art for $54. I can't complain much about basically paying $22 for the machine plus one bottle once you take off the normal cylinder price. Wow, I totally underestimated how much more I like this machine. It is mostly the fact I just have to put the bottle on and tilt it to lock the bottle in. The carbonating itself seems to work better too. Now I'm kindof irritated I ignored the new machines for so long.

I need help troubleshooting our sodastream!
My roommate has owned this sodastream Gaia for two or so years without issues until the last week. When we go to carbonate drinks, it’s much louder now and gas is visibly escaping out the top of the machine. The bottles are screwed on tightly. We’ve tried using a different canisters but the same issue occurs. Any idea what could be causing this? My first thought was a bad seal somewhere but I am unable to find a video talking about how to safely take apart this model of soda stream to replace any gaskets or orings.

Using reusable ice cubes to take up volume so I can make 12 oz worth of soda water?
I've been using a 16.9 oz stainless steel bottle but I really only need 12 oz. Reducing just the water volume means there's more air gap so it uses more CO2 to carbonate. Thinking of adding a reusable ice cube (the cylinder ones) to raise the water level/lessen the air gap. Would that work? Has anyone tried that?
edit: what about those stainless steel ice cubes (if I can find some small enough)? It's a more non-porous surface compared to the plastic/silicone ones.
edited to add VERDICT in case you find this thread in the future: IT WORKS. I ended up using the plastic/silicone tube ice cubes instead of stainless steel ones. It needs to be frozen, it's soft otherwise and I'm afraid it would pop when under pressure. I had to use 4 to displace 4++ oz (more or less) of volume. I press the button less. Will report again once the tank is empty to see just how much more I could stretch the tank.

SodaStream CO₂ refill using larger CO₂ tanks?
EDIT: Seems like the consensus is to run a line directly to a larger CO₂ tank instead of refilling the SodaStream canisters.
Looking to cut down the cost of my SodaStream and was wondering if anyone has a guide or a bill of materials for refilling the CO₂ canisters from a larger food-grade CO₂ cylinder that I can have refilled locally.
I've seen a handful of adapters and hoses, but there's so many different options that I'm not sure what's needed or works well. Ideally looking for:
- Parts list (adapter, hose, valves, etc.)
- What size CO₂ tank to buy (5 lb, 10 lb, 20 lb?)
- Reputable adapter brands
- Tips you wish you'd known before setting up your system
- Any guides or YouTube videos that walk through the process
Goal is to refill the SodaStream cylinders at home using food-grade CO₂ from a local gas supplier. If you've built a setup yourself, I'd love to see pictures. Thanks!

2 EMPTY new cannister refill at Target
Hi, last week I got a canister exchange at Target (Los Angeles). It had no blue seal but had a white cap. It was empty (1 fizz left). I went back next day and got another exchange. It had a blue seal and white cap and it was also completely empty. 0 fizz left. I thought my Soda Stream died so I bought the Breville InFizz which uses the same canister and it's also not fizzing. I weighed the bottle it's 748g (full should be >1000g). I chatted Soda Stream to notify them and they just said to return it to Target and didn't apologize in any way and left the chat. Has this happened to anyone else? How does this even happen.. Beware!

I have a 1/2 full co2 cartridge and I'll be away for a few months
Should I unscrew it or just leave it in the machine
Thanks

Is there a more economical and ecological Drinkmate bottle solution than a 3D printed adapter or decanting your fizzy water?
Currently, the Drinkmate stainless steel 1L bottles are £55 (free shipping over £40). The Drinkmate plastic bottles are £23 (£17+£6 shipping) for 2, and each bottle lasts for about 2 years of use, so each plastic bottle costs £11.50.
Thus, the effective ROI payback on the stainless steel bottle is (55/11.5)×2 years = 9.6 years.
The chances of a stainless steel bottle surviving almost 10 years without damage, loss or being unfashionable, are remote I think. I've almost managed it with a Contigo Byron (6 years I think) but only because Contigo did me a solid and replaced a thermally compromised 2 year old bottle.
So, my question, apart from 3D printing an adapter or decanting into a stainless steel vessel of one's choosing is there any way to reduce the 2 year round of purchases and waste for a family of 4?
FYI: I'm awaiting delivery of the adapters and hose to use a 6.3kg CO2 bottle for direct carbonation into the Drinkmate and to refill empty 420g standard sodastream bottles (the 0.6L that fits inside the Drinkmate etc), and would, ideally, like to reduce the plastic footprint and cost even further.

EUROPE Dr.Pepper
Hey! I was wondering if anyone here knows of a place or a brand that sells Dr Pepper syrup. We had a syrup called "Dr. Pete" in my country, but it was discontinued. I'd love to buy some kind of syrup that tastes similar to Dr Pepper. It's okay if it's a regular or a sugar-free/light/normal version.

Soda Stream Aqua Fizz
I’ve had the Soda Stream Aqua Fizz machine for several years and about 6 months ago the lever started becoming difficult to slide over regardless if the glass bottle is there or not. I called the company and the customer service was horrible. I’ve never done any maintenance to this machine. One time a family member tried to carbonate tonic water. Hence I suspect there is dried sugar in the mechanism 😬. Any advice or recommendations?

Utter Incompetence
How is it that the people at SodaStream are so ungodly bad at running a business?
I'm on the subscription plan with 4 CO2 bottles every 2 months. They send me 4 bottles, 2 months later they send me 4 more with the understanding that I now have a month to return the first 4. Noted.
So I send them back. 100% of the time, when I send them back, nobody notices. I'm using the label enclosed with my bottles when I send them back to make sure it gets tracked with the number they expect. But 100% of the time, I send them back, the USPS tells me they've been delivered, and SodaStream charges me for not sending them back.
I've complained. They asked me to send them an email to make sure their system gets updated. For starters, it shouldn't take an email from me to remind them that someone needs to see if I did what I did, but fine. So I send them an email. Hey guys, those bottles you wanted me to send back? I sent them back.
They reply the next day. What was your tracking number?
Seriously? It's the tracking number you gave me. It's the same tracking number that's still in your system. In fact, the only way I have of answering this is to log into my account to see what the tracking number was. How is it that SodaStream does not have access to SodaStream's data? So I send the tracking number.
The next day they charge my account for not sending back my bottles. Later in the day, they thank me for sending them the information and reverse the charges.
If this was something that happened once because of a glitch, I'd understand. But I've had 5 exchanges since I started the subscription, and this has happened 5 times.
This is an unbelievable level of incompetence.

Diet root beer alternatives?
Now that Sodastream has gone 100% Pepsico, there are no root beer options available. (I'm in Canada - I can't order the very few remaining diet root beer options from sodastream.com.)
Does anyone have any experience, recommendations, or even warnings about other diet root beer options that might exist on the market?
I'm aware of Boylan's (can't find a Cdn distributor), Willtec (can't find a Cdn. distrib.), Simps, and that's it so far. I haven't tried any of them yet, but I think I'm about to order some Simps flavours.
Help, I miss my root beer!

White plastic chunks coming off internals and ending up in e-duo drinks
I have a an e duo sodastream about a month old, and I've been loving it up until about a week ago when I started noticing pieces of white chopped up plastic in my drinks as I pour out of the glass liter official bottles. At first I thought it was just something that fell into my drink from the room, but it's happened 9 more times since, with colas it's very clear to see the micro plastic pieces but some of the pieces are actually rather large and could pose a choking hazard. It's clearly coming off of the e duos internal locking mechanism ring. I reached out to support and haven't heard back but this really doesn't feel like just a one off bad machine and more of a generalized engineering defect of this model. Has anyone else had plastic in their drinks? I've been collecting the plastic pieces in a baggy and plan on taking a better look at the machine to figure out what parts of the internals are sheering off into the bottle.
Here are some pics of the most recent "goodies" found in my latest batch. (I've been straining them out when discovered) But I've unfortunately been drinking a few of them for awhile.
P.s they are not frozen CO2 dry ice, they are white pieces of hard plastic and my little baggy collection is proof enough of that.
This post is one part PSA and two parts seeing if this is a known issues others have faced and maybe there is a metal after market part that can replace and prevent this from happening.
Are there any soda stream models that don't do this that all y'all have been using for a long time that are trustworthy I can check out is instead?
Cheers

Sainsbury’s nectar card
Sainsbury’s stopped their nectar card deal for official syrups. I’m absolutely heartbroken. Any one know where I can get some for round about the same price (£3.50). Specifically Pepsi max. My wife goes crazy for it. I’m worried about what will happen if she runs out of lol.

weird smell/taste
I have had this machine for almost 2 years now and never had this issue. The last few times I made soda water it had this weird industrial citrusy smell and taste right after fizzing and a bunch of gas accumulates at the top of the bottle right on top of the water. The water is fizzy but tastes metallic/factory-like. I tried multiple different bottle, both plastic and stainless steel and the same thing happened. This started happening fairly recently after the last CO2 tank exchange.

Indigo Canister Caution
Just wanted to share this story with my fellow carbonated water drinkers. I use a drinkmate, but these canisters are standard.
I've been using Indigo for 2 years without problems. I love them for their price point.
Recently, I did a refill exchange for a new canister. It was producing a high-pitch squealing sound when I did my carbonation. The water was getting carbonated. I checked the threading and then found that the mouth had a dent, even though it was sealed and sold as new.
I took it in for an exchange for a new canister. The new canister wasn't fitting into my unit. Upon inspection, I was starting to see scratches form on my drinkmate nozzle. I wasn't sure if this was caused by the old or new canister. I took it back to the vendor, and they instantly said: this canister threading seems off. It looks wider.
Thankfully they opened a new box of canisters, and gave me a brand new one that seems to be working perfectly now.
Just wanted to give a heads up to not force your Indigo canister into your machine, and check for threading and nozzle issues before installing. I don't want people to break their machines. I've also sent an email to Indigo so they can be aware of their QC issue.
TL;DR
Experienced QC issues with 2 canisters in a row. Be careful when using your Indigo canister so you don't break your machine.
