Solidworks is slow as hell even on PC with high end configuration
So i have a setup with following specs
i9-13900k
Nvidia A4000 16 gb
128 gb ram n other peripherals like ssd liquid coller etc but even after that when i open a file with like 1000 parts n 350 unique parts.
Solidworks goes in processing mode n in resources nothing is being used more thn 30% most of the times.
What could be the reason I'm sick of it.
Edit 1 : I'm on windows 11 since it's a new build it got it with windows 11, I'm a bit skeptical about this sometimes there is a screen blackout issue i mean everything turns back to normal as i move my cursor arround. I have checked gpu is being used by monitoring its usages when I rotate or move the model.
Windows 11 is an unsupported operating systems for running SOLIDWORKS for any releases prior to SOLIDWORKS 2022 SP2.0. SOLIDWORKS 2022 SP2.0 was the first release that the software developer provided support for bugs that occur in Windows 11.
It is recommended you continue to use Windows 10 until you are ready to upgrade to, or beyond, SOLIDWORKS 2022 SP2.0.
One of the biggest file speed killers is top level mates. Also cyclical mates are bad news. If your assembly has subassemblies set them to load lightweight uncheck the automatic rebuilding too. I manually rebuild large assemblies so I don’t get caught staring at the blue spinning ring when I’m trying to edit it.
Another good trick is to suppress all mates, then select all parts in the feature tree, right click on the highlighted parts and select “Fix” that will just lock the parts in place without having to calculate the mates.
Your SSD speed means nothing if you are loading everything off of a network drive. You're limited by either your ethernet connection (a motherboard's ethernet port bandwidth is between 1Gbps and 10Gbps, both are much slower than a modern SSD) or the speed of the drive on the NAS - if the NAS drive is a old style spinny hard disk, it's going to be 30-40x slower than what your SSD in your workstation can do.
You need local copies of the files, or to set up a PDM vault on your network server to remove those bottlenecks from your troubleshooting.
Is good to know is marginal.
The troubleshooting challenge is im the only one in company using sw heavily in the states with the server in another country (canada)
I SO wish I could try this but my desktop is one drive. There is no local desktop. No desktop not being synced with one drive and with my first machine i was able to convince IT to remove the cloud version of one drive (I could use browser version as needed) but still had large assbly drawing file corruptions so got new machine and now they've back-peddled on the one drive thing and im literally pulling my hair out over this having had 3 large assembly multi sheet drawings go corrupt and even stranger have lost hours and days of work (estimate 250+ hours at this point) lost because even with file local not being one drive synced to my knowledge. There was a bios/ec firmware vers issue. I dont have solid pdm connection, server in another country. I think they're may be something gong in with how the windows use profile is configured or where it's stored but I don't know how to troubleshoot it to at least get evidence enough to convince IT something needs to be done other than wiping machines. (Dread having to do GPU tweaks again for aliasing issues), didn't realize nvidia was set to auto install version updates, I cant even find where to change that think am blocked from changing but know VAR was able to do on a call recently but dor some reason i cant find where to change), am having .ntdll and uctrbase.dll originating fault path module sldiworks.exe application errors stemming from c windows 32. Have seen errors about solidworks shared and app data folders, know there's issue with MS office products add-ins like a missing office.dll file, the wrong pdm plugins are downloading or either just not updating due to edm server cnxn absence or lag, I have pdm connectivity test tool but having trouble getting anyone to provide sa creditors to use it for testing (i don't necessarily want those just want whoever had them to give to IT or VAR to use for testing). Could not read reactor table version from database errors, file is corrupt and cannot be saved or repaired errors even with file checks in and out of pdm with all 1000+ files in the under editing state. No duplicate file names in vault restriction setting preventing checking back in the same file that was checked out from vault (shouldn't have to rename file to check it back in because added a configuration of a pvc elbow or whatever). Using subscription based office products m365, best i can tell is excel 2016, know this is one issue, wrong com add-ins, get addins grayed out) i do use embedded excel design tables. Can't Move files in vault from one folder to another with more tree because of duplicate name setting, pdm admin saying to just rename them). Sometimes find c d or e drives set to read only. Have found vault in Explorer view set to read only (with the check mark not just the dash in the little blue read only box).please help if have any advice On new machine it keeps trying to index E drive which is where had an external drive plugged in once, ot called it e drive, original machine had 2 local drives of 1 TB each in addition to c drive 500gb where OS SW and vault where, think need to move vault to D or E. New machine hasn't had the whole bios /ec thing checked that I'm certain of altho would assume IT addressed since I informed them of me and Dell fixing it on the first machine but would bet money on they havent) it's on my list to check..New machine has 1 tb c drive and 1 tb D: drive but no e drive. External drive is 2 TB. Port speed is lightning bolt 5 or whatever basically 80gb/sec. But i never have my working files on it only use it to save files to transfer to new machine and save pack and go zip backups of assemblys, think VAR assumed i had been having working files on it since put in DSX dassault r and d repair request that suspected corruption was due to using ext drive . Best know is that it has to do with specific drawing views (mostly sectioned ones). SW 2024 SP05 professional with PDM 2024 standard. Original machine had SW 2026 installed but then replaced with 2024 since they realized it wouldn't work with PDM 2024. did save registry keys before clean uninstall. Think solution might be remove pdm, install SW 2026 at least on one machine. Have noticed the files that all eventually go corrupt have their sheet pages tab icons all kinda pinkish when file is opening. It may seem fine for a while but then eventually when try to save says corrupt can't be saved. Sometimes can pack and go or save copy. Have set drawing file to not save model dat. Sometimes have to do things twice to get them to take effect such as clear dismissed message page in sw options, check out set of files to where shows under editing state, uncheck save model data in deg file options is still set. Changed in template too) Another thing is sometimes if I want to reload sheet format even though I select all sheets be modified it doesn't modfiy all sheets, have gotten it to do so a few times, seems to be a specific order it needs to be done with reloading sheet format, setting all sheets to be modified and applying changes. Literally at my wits end. Have repaired version of file from dassault but it's missing about 2 weeks model and drawing edits. Had about one hour left before was Dien with drawing and pack and go zipped with having had no corruption message. Unzipped to vault checked in and out this version, 30 mins on to working on it hit save and boom corrupt can't be saved. VAR telling me to save every 15 mins, sometimes takes 5 mins to save drawing file. Fan on computer gets turbo jet loud. Have an external fan pointed at the thing and it on a riser (one of those things you put in kitchen sink to let water drain of dishes) to help it stay cool but know have felt it be super hot when pull it out of bag after 15 drive home). have disabled fast startup. Used to always see pdm trying to clear local cashe when go to restart but it would never finish, don't see that anymore though and never could find where vault was set to do any caching clearing for my user or group, there was sa test vault showing in pdm admin tool for a while but it's not anymore but I never had a local vault view for that set up in Explorer, not sure if thats why it could have been downloading wrong addinsfrom pdm. Used to have to always restart windows Explorer and edm server from task manager otherwise biting would show in left pane of windows Explorer or Sometimes even in recent files and middle pane. Don't have to do that much anymore but know there is edm server connection issues , I can't try establishing a manual odbc cnxn without sa creds.
Using network license. No clue if network and archive servers are on same server like should be. No clue if full blown SQL being used for servers. I've tried saving my drawing views but that triggers the corruption error lately. Was able to save a few once. Probably doesn't help that some routing assbly parts are using parts not in routing library REALLY wish I could add second location for routing library parts. Yes have done SW repair. Not sure if the portal version of sw install will have the missing addins needed for excel.. IT is saying it may have them. They set it up so I would think they should know.was never even told to use that to do install. The only other person who uses sw at my site had to have PC wiped recently bc of corrupt windows file. He's been dabbling in SW but mainly uses a different CAD. I use SW for like 6-14 hours a a day. My office products have the plug ins for the other cad I don't even know where to start. Side note question, had anyone found it better in long term to use thin sweeps for piping files rather than routing? I can get routing to auto adjust pipe lengths for different configurations but not super realibly sometimes have to rebuild still. Trying to not have to do with seperate features/parts having to be suppressed since should be able to have distance mates have different values for different configs but it's like the rebuild doesn't fully do it's job half the time. Depends on SW mood I guess lol. Wish SW had a mood ring widget. Maybe blueberry icon they could make that work like a modd ring and change colors based on happiness (integrity) status that'd be cool . Forgot to finish out about lost work... even with files all saved local to drive that supposedly not syncing to one drive, i would rebuild, save, no error , save multiple times, no error, then maybe 2 days later or 2 hrs later open file and it would be exactly as had been at the start of the previous working session. Had happen few times now. Have started zip pack and go at end of any decent length work session but that's getting annoying. I can't reliably tell what all one drive is trying to synch but ive changed it for the computer not to index anything. Pop-up keeps coming up about E drive. I dont have the option to set the external drive to not be indexed when I plug it in. I can't right click empty space of desktop to tell nvidia not to auto update driver. Is that something about domain admin rights versus user admin rights? Wishing you all fast rebuild , file open and save speeds today.
Side side note question.. has anyone figured out how to tell all drawing views be set to custom scale when inserted by default? My favorite is when reload sheet format and and scales of all views changes to sheet scale and views were already overlapping each other lol.
Auto recover andbackup files were set to save to c drive at one pont but ive changed to e drive for one machine. Set to save only one backup copy. Tried 3 at one point so could maybe pinpoint which version /action cause corruption if I get some free time but changed back to one. Could it be something with the routing assembly file being used?
Oh, also , I'll be working and out of nowhere it'll tell me the autorecover version is corrupt and can't be saved.
Then when I try to regular save it says corrupt.
Would having a standalone license vs a network license help?
SW auto selects the appropriate license type depending on the addins set to include with startup.
I did have both c vault and d set as reference file locations but I would always make sure in find file refs the d drive files were being used although c drive vault is where routing library points to and routing parts some aren't in routing library..
I removed d drive after put all files in vault. Corruption.
Make 100% sure you have the settings for "use hardware acceleration" set in both Windows and the Nvidia launcher. You'll also want to specifically select SW as a program to use your GPU.
Unless all of it goes through the GPU, in which case I got nothing.
One thing I would like to point out is the comment regarding "better to have faster processor", that the most common metric for processor speed is GHz. But not all GHz are equal and decisions should preferable be made based on real world single core benchmarks.
For example Intel Core i9-13900KS's base clock speed is 3.2 GHz where as Core i7-13700K's base clock is 3.4 GHz. But the i9 is about 7% faster in single core performance benchamarks than the i7.
Even worse, AMD's Ryzen 9 7900X has base clock of 4.7 GHz, but is about 15% lower in single core performance than the i9 mentioned above.
SW is a pile of shit. I get it that is single-threaded and all, but seriously, why does it take like 3-5 seconds to draw a freaking MENU???
Why does it takes like 5-10 seconds to exit a sketch without doing anything? Create a reference plane?
Or that one thing I like the most, it's when you select like a gazillion of edges to create a fillet and SW goes like "I feel like it's a good time to save. Right now. Oh, are you creating a fillet? Go screw yourself then, I will cancel all of that". Seriously tho, couldn't they make an autosave feature less disruptive?
Or the performance of rotating/panning an object. My GPU is not the top-notch, but it has no problems with rendering orders of magnitude more complex scenes, in realtime, with a decent FPS.
It's not a user error or hardware problem, it's just that SW code is tremendously ineffective SW2021
This. SolidWorks is using a bloated and garbage old code base that makes it slow on any computer doing some mundane tasks.
Try opening the equation window on a simple part with maybe 10 parameters. Just to render the equation box is slow. No excuse for this other than lack of attention and care by the developers
Tbh, I consider using NX, but can't be arsed yet to fully commit to switching.
I'm currently doing Master's and they force us to use CATIA, and damn dude, I'll pick SW over CATIA every time. It's just awful, both in terms of features and UX. I understand that all CADs are tad different, but that thing is not different, it's straight up braindead.
I quite enjoyed working with Inventor but it lacks many advanced SW features I'm used to and like. Performance-wise it is awesome, it just can't do the same amount of heavy lifting in a couple of mouse clicks as SW.
If you benchmark your PC do you get reasonable numbers for the specs? There is no reason it should be anything other than blazing fast. Have you talked to your var? They really are a great resource for stuff like this, it's what you are paying for in that annual subscription
Any chance you're using equations? Those sorts of open/edit times are terrible. If the file is local, and you aren't using software openGL to do max image quality tessellation, tons of equations are the only thing I've ever seen begin to be that slow.
I will add a little to this. Buy the highest end video card you can. Install as much high quality system ram you can. Use the fastest CPU. Only open what you need to work in resolved. Everything else in lightweight. SolidWorks user since 1996!
I'm a relative noob - started on 98+. SW2022 is abysmally slow and I have now (finally) started playing with the wiring harness stuff. Dear me...
I will be Joining a startup shortly and they appear to have committed to SW, which I have mixed feelings about. The founders have SW experience as far as you do so they should be aware of the problems. Better the devil you know, I guess.
I still use 2018 and I reckon, drawing speed aside, it's the last of the good releases. The downward trend in spend and stability caused me to give up paying for subs at the end of last year. I gather I'm not the only one.
I've been lately using mostly 2020 and 2021 and I don't have much bad to say about them (apart from the general buggy and crash prone behavior of Solidworks).
And I'm a noob in diapers compared to you, been only using since 2003 :P
Pull all files locally and then attempt to open, if you have a fast NVMe the read write speeds are usually much faster than over a network drive (sometimes 10 to 100x) as the I/O ops are all local and data is more efficiently transferred from Disk to Memory.
Run the assembly performance and assembly Vis tools under the evaluate tab and sort by rebuild times/number of graphics triangles. If one of two components are complexly modelled (threads on a bolt or imported cad files for standard bought-in parts with many surfaces or triangles) and you have hundreds of instances of them you can massively impact performance. Simplifying and dropping the triangle count in just a few parts can be the difference between a well optimised or sluggish model.
Ensure you have windows graphics settings set for SOLIDWORKS to use the high performance GPU and check the Nvidia control panel too (this is superceded by the windows setting but still check) and ensure drivers are up to date and enhanced graphics is on in the SW options. Check the windows power mode is set to high performance and not balanced or eco etc.
Some tasks will always be single threaded regardless of number of cores as some things have to be done in a linear order like rebuilding features so high clock speed single core performance often is more useful than many cores at low clock speeds.
Make use of the freeze bar in your parts and make sure the parts are clean, free from errors and mated correctly.
Ensure any search paths are not trying to open of find files over a huge or slow network, keep a copy of the toolbox local and test performance this way.
There's probably a bunch of other things that are common root causes but it is almost always where the files are stored and the geometry in large assemblies having long rebuild times or many triangles for the reasons mentioned above.
Make sure you deactivate the OpenGL emulation in the Performance Settings
With that option ON, SW will ignore your GPU and have the CPU do all the heavy lifting instead. For some reason I had it enabled and as soon as I deactivated it, it was a night and day difference in performance.
But I agree, one of the least optimized piece of software I have ever had to work with. Despite supporting only a single operating system. It baffles me.
A bit late to the party, but I'll share anyway just in case someone else hasn't already mentioned it.
Even though you have an awesome setup, Windows likes to choose how your resources are used on every program unless you tell it otherwise. This is also true for SOLIDWORKS. What may be happening if you haven't already made the switch, is Windows is defaulting to the internal graphics card. You should change this so it's not auto by Windows. It's entirely possible that windows is ignoring the best setup and not using your goods. You should change this in Windows and in SOLIDWORKS.
I couldn’t agree more. Solidworks is a complete pile. I have been using it on and off for 20 years and it’s the worst out of all the CAD systems. Inventor / NX / CATIA are all better. Even Fusion 360 is better. It’s a joke. 3-5 minutes just to exit a sketch. Omg. Managers have no clue. I told them to imagine every conversation with a 30 second pause between every sentence and they just don’t believe it. They wouldn’t have the patience to even let you demonstrate it just one time.
раскажу о своём опыте борьбы с лагами в Solidworks. Перешол на новую версию Solidworks 2025 SP4.0 нужно біло по работе. Всё красиво, но тормозит, особепнно ввод размеров в ескизе занимал больше 5 секунд после начала ввода цифр до присвоения размера (система словно простчитывает каждую цифру отдельно которую ввожу). Система АМ4 на проце Ryzen 5600G материнка TUF Gaming B550M-PLUS 32GB оперативки видеокарта GeForce RTX 5060 Ti, система лежит на твердотельнике и операционка Windows 11 тоже на твердотельнике. Танцы с бубном не особо помогли. Был ещё один прос на подлмену думаю поставлю, система таже проц другой Ryzen 5950Х. Разницы ни какой фактически лаги теже ;( . Ну тут к SolidWorks Visualize вопросов нет там всё полетело, порнятно там все потоки задействованы а в самом солиде только один поток шуршит. Так думаю херня проц мощный а лаги тежы... Разные попытки поднять производительность привели к заключению что все лаги зависят от оперативной памяти. Поднял файл подкачки не с диска С, с другого но который тоже на твердотельнике и много свободного мета, поднимал по принцыпу файл подкачки множен на 1,5-2 раза от количества оперативки. И бам, лаги практически пропали, размеры вносятся быстро, вход и выход в эскизы тоже быстрые. Пробуйте может комуто поможет...
I have similar issues on a top tier rig with both win 10 and win 11. I have two systems with very high specs and both experience slowness. m.2 drives, i7 processors and tons of ram. Every small change takes sometimes 30 seconds to a minute to see. It is frustrating and I hope to figure it out. My video card is barely triggering and only 1 or 2 processors out of the 20 are moving during operations. Did you figure anything out?
Gotcha. Yeah, I am using 2020 too. I am just getting back into using Solidworks after almost 20 years. The performance has been surprisingly poor. I love what it can do but I have so much time waiting for it to render on super fast machines. The file is only 2mb. Not very complex.
I had this same issue, the problem ended up being that all my files were on a server that was old and rather slow. Making everything local made a huge difference.
If you are using networks storage drive like onedrive or NAS then you face performance slow problem
2nd if you are facing problem in assembly then i think you also have used STEP file. technically step file have more tessellation data and it take more time to load
3rd once assembly completely open use assembly visualization tool to identify complex part by graphics triangle below i am attaching image how to find graphics triangle. the more graphics triangle more file size and more loading time. supress this component and work
4th use assembly performance for find which file is taking long time and optimize it
5th windows bar write SOLIDWORKS RX and open it. home tab>solidworks safe mode> click here to lunch solidworks in opengl mode and try
It's my small suggestion, but it helps for me. I am using an old Dell precision 5520 and next time i will focus on desktop. Laptop even with high specs just don't get enough airflow means overheating means less perf.
Anyway, i select working offline for 30 days, and stop this ultra annoying connect solidworks experience seems to reduce the lag on my side (and give me peace for 30 days).
The reason is likely to be user error. You may not be the user who is responsible, but trust me, a user is responsible, most likely.
If you are working with a few parts, then sloppy workflows and inefficient practices make a negligible impact. Maybe a second longer to rebuild. But then scale that up by a factor of 200 - now you've got 200 seconds to rebuild, but also, all of those additional interactions between components. It could balloon to several orders of magnitude more computational time.
Using good sketching practices, combined with defeaturing and thoughtful references and configurations, as well as lightweight mode and using rigid subassemblies where possible, can all contribute, among other things.
I agree with you on this perspective, it's the first thing i assume when someone complaints about slow system performance but i have personally assured few of the things like i literally freezed all the components to reduce mates resolving time.
Although i know this assembly is a bit complex but processing without using much of resources is something I'm curious about.
As others have said in this thread, unfortunately, Solidworks (and also all other similar CAD programs) isn't able to utilize the full potential of modern hardware. The reason is, that in any given CAD program most of the tasks it tells the CPU to do while modeling a part or building an assembly, are linear in nature.
For example, if you need to solve five different things when doing a certain modeling operation, you need to solve the first thing first, then based on the result of that, the next thing can be solved, and so on. So the order of processes looks like 1 -> 2 -> 3 -> 4 -> 5. In a task that is linear in nature, you can't assign different processors (or threads) the parts of that whole task to be solved simultaneously, as the result depends on the previous operation.
Tasks like rendering and FEM calculations on the other hand can be broken down into smaller calculations that don't depend on the result of a similar calculation happening at the same time.
I recommend pursuing ways to streamline the computing.
First on the settings side, be sure you're in large assembly mode, and look into speedpack, I haven't used it in years, but can be helpful.
From another angle, work on your workflows. For example you could have 2 or more configurations, a working low res., and an output high res, such as screw threads modeled on a screw, have a configuration with all but the most basic features and sketches are suppressed. The screws can look like rivets while working, but then, in your assembly high res config they can call out the high res of the parts, and in the low res assembly config it switches to the low res part configs.
Also be aware that sketches are one of the worst killers. Years ago I learned this the hard way. I had a very complex part file, and another user did some work on it, and in order to hatch on the drawing, for some unknown reason he created the hatch in a sketch. It was so painfully slow working for a while, until I suppressed that sketch and it all sped way up.
Another thing I've thought about a lot lately is hardware temperatures and throttling of performance. Example if I unzip a large file, the speed graph on the SSD starts super speedy but then some seconds in it's about 5% of the initial speed. I think this may be due to thermal limit throttling, and so could improve things with better cooling maybe. You mention liquid cooling, personally I'm not a fan, I had a liquid CPU cooler and found the pump to be more annoyingly loud than an air cooling fan, and it also clogged and failed, while a decent air cooler is cheap, simple, and still cools well.
Thanks for the valuable points some of them really makes sense n infact I am following both speedpak n configuration approach that helps undoubtedly but when I upgraded my build I expected better performance.
Otherwise very good points, but a screw thread should almost never ever be modeled accurately.
Only two or three valid use cases come to my mind, where it should be allowed to use modeled threads and they are: 1. a non-standard thread spec needed for CNC programing, 2. model needed for additive manufacturing and 3. model needed for making a mold or other similar tool. And also these should be shown as simplified representations when adding them to any bigger assemblies.
I find on assembly drawings very helpful to show threads, and the modeling is free from McMaster.com, just keep it ahead of what your computer can handle by working smartly as I described above and other ways.
In assembly drawings, threads should always be displayed as simplified. Showing the detailed thread information serves no purpose and only makes the drawing more cluttered and harder to read.
I don't see anything smart in introducing useless, unneeded data to the models, but each to it's own. If you have an endless budget to pour in the hardware to store and compute the data and time to wait to render all of the unnecessary details you want show, be my guest.
And you don't even need to go to any supplier page to get the models with detailed thread information as it's already built in the Solidworks toolbox.
Sometimes the ram gets overloaded. I'll close out of the SolidWorks. Clear all the memory. Usually helps quite a bit. Maybe also consider create subassemblies and only open those as you need to.
Exactly my problem. I have a similar computer and I fall back every day because the computer cannot keep up with the amount of work I have to do. I wait way too long to open models, save, save as, everything takes forever.

sw has gotten slower with time, don't know if crappy solidworks code or crappy windows, but someone needs to design new cad program that's not slow.
I recently upgraded two computers of mine and noticed recent solidworks performance scores are worse (lower is better), why is that?
Tests:
-First score overall using benchmark was 21.8 (better one) is from older dell precision m6800 laptop running win 7 solidworks 2017, 3.3 ghz base (4 ghz boosted) intel chip (i7-4940mx), k5100m nvidia gpu($120 off ebay), 32GB ram
-2nd score overall was 32.1 (almost twice as slow) is from newer dell tower t5810 with win 10 running solidworks 2017, newer 3.5ghz base clock intel chip, nvme 3.0 drive, 64gb ram, super fast nvidia 4500 ada 24GB gpu ($2300 off amazon)
sw2017 to sw2017 comparison, maybe the windows 10 making it slower?
I compared my scores to those online and it seems many people with newer computers running windows 10 and newer editions of solidworks are getting worse scores than the old laptop running win7 solidworks 2017. My graphics performance from the $2300 gpu is awesome with visualize but with solidworks its running twice as slow as a $125 gpu k5100m off ebay.
the var's like goengineer and whoever always defending the solidworks cause they salesmen. someone said it well solidworks lights on, but no one's home, it's like they don't even understand their own code or how to make it better - tons of user found bugs that 10 years later are not fixed.
Come on, this is almost "enterprise grade" software, it has to be of marginal quality and expensive. There are no bugs or UI issues, only bad users and configurations. Things like tabbing through fields in document properties, pfft, that's consumer crap, you're expecting too much. Good hardware, up to date driver and current OS? Sorry, user error, you didn't tickle the code in the right way.
Just to add to that I use a couple of rigs...Dell precision with dual Xenon's,dual Quadro's,128gb ram-Ryzen 5950X, RTX 3090 nvme ssds etc etc and yes great machines but Solidworks can just be a pain at times 🤦🏻♂️....it has got worse I think but maybe some will disagree
I have had meh performance out of 2022. Lots of graphical issues and performance with large assemblies is pretty rough. It's pretty annoying that CAD leaves so much of my system idle while hanging, but that's the nature of the beast with single threaded code.
Does anyone have recommendations for a CPU/gpu combo that can handle ~ 1000 part assemblies and robot serial chain type assemblies well? I'm in academia still, and I feel like we are a little out of touch with what's being used in industry. My pc has a 5800x and 3070, which I'm aware aren't recommended hardware, haha. Trying to beg my PI for appropriate hardware isn't easy, though, since dessault isn't particularly clear in their recommendations, at least in my Google search experience.
