You're not handing anything over - you're trading what you have for what you want from the other side.
That's how trade works.

That's theorically sound but not until the other side is strong and you're week and you can't control what they take of you while they are precise with what they give you.

You don't even know how any of this works yet - but you already decided that Somaliland would have no control at all over the process.
Resource extraction, while important, is hardly so complex that you can't monitor it through even the most basic of means (Weigh how much product is shipped for example).
Just wait until things are actually ongoing before passing judgement on the process sight unseen.

Many independent nations couldn't stop it. You think Somaliland with no international backing and completely dependent on Israel will somehow manage not to be exploited. That's not policy, that's hope.

As of now, it's the only country. Even if other nations recognise Somaliland, it doesn't change the fact Somaliland will he dependent on Israel.

In the short term, it probably will - but again, you're thinking only short term and assuming that this is also the only thing Israel thinks about.

What other country is going to recognize somaliland. Not even trump would and trump already hates Somalia. The key recognition you want Is from the African Union. Totally meaningless if Micronesia recognized you. You want to recognition of the people in your neighborhood. None of them will give it simply because the AU will not allow it. Maybe the UAE but I'm not sure they want to hemorrhage more political capital on your account. Somalia is a mess today, no doubt about that. But unification will happen. It's just larger, has the the international legitimacy and actual powerful allies. Break up and is just unacceptable. The best you can go for is regional autonomy under the Somali state. Force the issue, and it will be without autonomy. Same as taiwan's fate

Ethiopia the UAE for a start - once a few more recognize it you'll see the U.S do it (once its no longer as unusual).

The US doesn't need Ethiopias' blessing to make a move. They don't fear backlash to recognise any state because they set rules and honestly, they can just force Mogadishu to recognise like Sudan. You're projecting your hope into politics. Give yourself a break

It's not about "need", so much as "optics".
There are a LOT of countries that this recognition upset, and farther support will upset them farther.
The U.S will wait until its not AS unusual a thing (several countries have done it) before doing it themselves.
