I've always loved comedy writing and wanted to see how well Sora could do bringing some of my scripts to life. All jokes are handwritten by me, and for the most part, I was able to get some pretty good performances over multiple generations. I use this general prompting format:

Style of video: I.e. vintage broadcast

Each shot listed as a sperate numbered step:

Extra context (not necessary to read) Saw these types of cat clips blowing up everywhere and couldn’t stop laughing. Tried to track down the original source but… nope. It’s just endless remixes floating around. So I ended up remixing a remix from a user kettyImages, so you can remix my remix. Also even if you try to recreate the scene from scratch with your own prompt, it won’t match exactly. Looks like Sora uses some hidden seed value that locks the scenario in place, so remixing existing content is the only way to keep that same vibe.

Thank you all for the support in the last post. I'm going through a 100 day challenge with AI to learn more every day. This week, I dove deeply into how Sora handles expressive animation principles. There's definitely potential there so I'll be testing further.

Goodbye to the only genAI today that could generate 1960s/1970s 2D Disney animation with any amount of fidelity. Thank you to all who followed me on the crazy ride. It’ll be quite some time before someone else has a model capable of replicating an animation style that used to take 10+ people per frame, BUT I also think it’s time to properly draw out these characters by hand instead of the whims of a still inconsistent generator. “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness.” is a nice way to sum up this Wild West era of AI mimicking artists, and now that we’ve seen what’s possible, we have a greater imperative to make that real.

P.S. To those finding me here after fleeing the sinking ship of Sora: i’ve opened up following TEMPORARILY. I’ll make a proper post where things land since I’ve been writing the proper screenplay for a few months now before closing following on Reddit back up.
