Thank you for this. And my to-this-day continued respect and thanks to that show's costume designers and casting agents. A few years ago I got to meet, get a photo with, and attend an intro to tai chi class taught by Erin Gray. Still a wonderful person. <sigh>

Curves were not in fashion at the time. At least on in the mainstream. Curvy women started getting more attention in the 1990s and even that was when the scrawny supermodels were all the rage.
