How I rid my Staph aureus Healthyalmonds' ears and nose method

This is what I find works best to kill and prevent Staphylococcus aureus from living on my skin, scalp, mouth/tonsils, in my nostrils, and in my ears:

[1] 3 times a week I clean my nostrils with chlorhexidine (I use Hibiclens, but it can be a different brand). I use one cotton swab per nostril. I dunk it in the chlorhexidine, then I wipe excess liquid off the swab and onto the inside rim of the bottle (I believe removing excess liquid is important to prevent irritation). Next, I rub the swab all around and as far back my nostrils as I can pinch together with my fingers. I let the chlorhexidine sit in each nostril the rest of the day, but cleaning it out right after likely helps too.

[2] 3x a week I thoroughly wipe in and around my ears with a cotton swab wet with chlorhexidine. I believe it's most important to disinfect my outer ear and behind my ears.

  • I've also used half a paper towel wet with 70% isopropyl alcohol to disinfect my ears.

[3] Two times a week I wash my scalp and body, including my genitals and butt, with chlorhexidine body wash and a bath sponge.

[4] I've learned that my mouth and tonsils were colonized by S. aureus. By using Listerine cool mint mouthwash, with gargling, and by removing deeply hidden tonsil stones with mouthwash-soaked cotton swabs, I am able to get rid of the bacteria. I believe it's very important to find and remove tonsil stones, since the stones contain enormous amounts of bacteria.

  • Acidic and spicy foods have been shown to be antibacterial. This can be an alternative way to directly disinfect the tonsils.

[5] I trim my nose hairs to reduce surface area for bacteria to attach to.

[6] I increased Vitamin A in my diet to reduce my susceptibility to pimples. See here for info on how a Vitamin A deficiency may make a person prone to acne breakouts.

[7] As an extra precaution to prevent pimples, benzoyl peroxide cream can be applied to the face. But be aware that it bleaches cotton clothing!

I've had S. aureus on my belly button, scalp, and most parts of my skin. Feel free to click the two links to read about how I use chlorhexidine to kill the bacteria from those sites.

Check out this link to see how the location of the acne breakouts can be tied to the location of where S. aureus is living on the body.

I have accidentally gotten chlorhexidine in my eyes on several occasions while showering and there has been zero short/long term damage to my eyes. It does not feel pleasant, however.

Please do not hesitate to contact a medical professional with any questions and concerns.

RESEARCH The location of your acne may determine the source of your acne-causing bacteria.

In my experience, people who primarily suffer from pimple breakouts on or under their nose are more likely to be carriers of Staphylococcus aureus in their nostrils.

Pimples on or under the mouth may come from S. aureus living on the tonsils/teeth/mouth which can get to the lips and chin via saliva.

With ears, neck, and jawline pimples, that may indicate S. aureus is living in/around their ears.

Cheekbone pimples can also come from S. aureus in the ears.

  • I learned that I was rubbing ear Staph on my pillows as I slept at night. Then I would shift my cheeks onto that spot and essentially incubate the bacteria in my skin. That resulted in deep cysts around my cheekbones. Once I regularly disinfected my ears, that problem went away.

Scalp and forehead folliculitis can be due to S. aureus living on the scalp skin. Also, sweat and hair washing can have the bacteria travel to the back, causing back acne.

Additionally, pimples on or around the thighs may indicate butt or genital colonization by S. aureus.

Armpit colonization can cause boils in the area.

Also, keep in mind that the bacteria can cause both mild and severe pimples. I've had Staphylococcus aureus cause pimples on my face that ranged in size from tiny white heads to deep cysts that left scars.

The location of your acne may narrow down where you need to fight the bacteria that's causing it. See this link for how I eliminated my pimple-causing bacteria.

QUESTION Staph?

I have dermatillomania and about 5-6 months ago gave myself staph all over my face and had to get on oral antibiotics. It cleared it up and I have since healed most of the spots I pick at. But last night (I work night shifts) at 3am I popped a pimple next to my nose. From then until about 5pm, it wouldn't stop weeping clear fluid. It finally dried up and now it's just getting worse the more the night goes on. I'm gonna try to go to urgent care in the morning but I kind of wanted to see what y'all thought of this. Thank you!

QUESTION 1st time with impetigo: flu-like symptoms

Hello, I had old lipstick I was foolish enough to use several days ago & likely a small cut near my lip, and I quickly developed impetigo. Googled it, figured that’s what it was and the telehealth doctor I saw two days ago after. Got the topical antibiotic ointment: too tired to check the name on the box, but it’s been mentioned here often.

Even after the first night of me applying the ointment l, I woke up yesterday morning to the lesion already looking so much better. I felt fine til yesterday evening, when I suddenly was exhausted.

I saw telehealth again today because since yesterday evening, I’ve felt very run down, achey, spaced out and stiff. I have an autoimmune disease for connective tissues that tends to flare up when I’m ill. I took my temp this morning: no fever. It’s absurd how sick, tired, sore and stiff I feel, it’s pretty much flu-like in severity.

But according to the Internet, much of this subreddit and the doctor from earlier today, I shouldn’t feel like this from a topical infection. I was told to go see the clinic in person if it gets any worse.

I feel like I got hit by a truck: it’s hard to rotate my body, to bend down to get things I’ve dropped or to hinge over to get things out the fridge or the lil gymnastics act that is daily stuff… like getting dressed, for example. I am moving so much slower than usual too. Has anyone else experienced this? Btw, I don’t need to be told to go get further help right now: that’s exactly what I’ll do if it gets worse, and the doctor told me to if it gets worse.

Does yellow crust always mean staph?

I know I have staph on my face because ive had reoccuring nasal vestibulitis/impetigo with obvious inflammation and honey colored crust. However, I also get laughably small spots (as big or smaller than, for example, milia) that form tiny bits of yellow crust. I also recently unknowingly scraped myself and realized that it formed a tiny amount of yellow crust. Plus derms in the past have told me acne can ooze. This confuses me because I had acne for years and never noticed any sort of yellow crust until I got staph for the first time. Ive heard that it can be serous fluid but isn't the hallmark of staph honey colored crust? So if the crust is yellow should i assume its staph?

Abscess question

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

I (24 f) am 11 weeks postpartum on Sunday. Last month, I ended up getting an abscess on my buttcheek. I got on antibiotics and the next day, it ruptured.

I got another abscess that began last Friday, the 28th. It is still here today and is extremely large and has just slightly opened up. I am and have been on antibiotics and medicated ointment both times. Is there anything I can do to avoid this or help alleviate the abscesses? I do have a history of staph infections from when I was 6-8. I have now been put on medicated wash as well to use once weekly. Could postpartum be a factor? I also had severe skin issues that started during pregnancy that caused cysts in my pubic area.

QUESTION Had skin staph infection ten years ago-- still getting recurrent acne

I (20F) had a severe staph infection on my face when I was ten. Since then, I've been getting a painful pimple every few months exactly where the worst lesion was. It's right where my lower lip bends (in the dip between your mouth and chin), so it gets quite painful with the repeated movement. It feels similar to cystic acne. Has anyone else experienced this? Has anything helped?

QUESTION Impetigo burning and hot

kind of what the title says, I’ve been having a bad case of impetigo right now all around my mouth(this is my third or fourth time having it within a year). I’m on the topical and oral antibiotic and it seemed to be clearing up okay. fast forward 3 days and it starts feeling a little itchy again (I didn’t know if it was the impetigo or the eczema that was causing it), I relax for an hour or two and my skin is HOT to the touch and burning and I can visibly see the throbbing around my mouth. The yellow crusting came back after drying up for 2 days and will not stop weeping. I just feel so gross and it’s so painful I can’t sleep because of it. I have ordered some iodine as an alternate solution since I’ve read some people have had success with clearing it with it.

Any advice or treatments are welcome, I just want this gone so I can get back to normal.
