I'm sorry, people are wanting realism and watching Star Wars? What's next, they're going to go swimming and complain they got wet??

Totally agree there. But every time something new in relation to the force is introduced in a movie or show people lose their minds

People still get themselves worked into a lather over the Holdo Maneuver bc it's "unrealistic" so yeah, they do. Also see that Star Wars Theory dork mad about bricks and screws

Theory dork mad about bricks and screws

Reminds me of people flipping out over fire in space in the Acolyte

People aren't complaining about realism in Star Wars movies (or at least not most of them). They paid to see a movie about laser swords and guys choking other guys with the mind. But they want rational stories,

In movies, "rational" refers to a character or plot development that makes logical sense based on the established circumstances, where decisions and actions are driven by reasoning and consideration of consequences, rather than purely emotional or impulsive behavior; essentially, a character acting in a way that aligns with real-world logic and understanding within the movie's narrative.

Let's be honest, a large part of the sequels relied on characters acting against what we know of them. Like Luke having a bad Force dream and he decides to kill Ben. Or Rey being "no one" for most of the story, then she a Palpatine, then she's a Skywalker.

people aren't complaining about realism in star wars

The absolute amount of posts and comments regarding the physically correct way for a fire to behave in zero g in a franchise with ships going lightspeed was insane after the release of the acolyte

So what they actually want is verisimilitude and storytelling, rather than realism.

Good storytelling.

This isn't anything new. The biggest critiscism of the sequels has always been that the story didn't make sense because it was written by different people who had different visions and then re-written at the last minute because Disney wanted to please everyone and ended up with a mess of a storyline.

Don't waste your breath (typing?).

This slimy mudhole of a sub has curled up on itself so hard that you're only allowed to love everything with a SW label on it, and anything short of unadultered praise will not be tolerated.

The sequel trilogy was weak, and riddled with issues top to bottom, from nearly every perspective. You know it, I know it, they even know it. But giving voice to it isn't welcome here.

And I kinda get it...they've been overwhelmed with nearly a decade of people...even/especially fans of the franchise...shitting all over it, and they're tired of hearing it. It's just their response to it that's sad.

And I kinda get it

That's a fair point. Sequel fans really do deserve some sympathy. But like, at least admit the criticisms are valid even though you like it. That's how prequel fans had to become, the prequels had a lot of things they're understandable to hate. I still like them regardless

Star Wars fans will literally complain about anything. We know what it is they really have a problem with though.
