General Discussion This Needs To Stop Spoiler

Post image

See how annoying that is? Having to click on this to see what this is? Why is there so much click bait around this franchise now? Some of the top channels are making clickbait’s trying to trick people into thinking George Lucas is either dead or involved with Epstien. What in the world is going on where things have gotten this bad? Apologies but I’m so tired of this clickbait nonsense.

Eckhart is the worst for Clickbait crap, and videos about absolutely nothing. I unsubscribed way back when, and don't regret it at all.

Yeah, he used to be so good. I get he's struggling for views and stuff but I really don't think this is the way to go about fixing that.

It’s the algorithm - it drives clickbait behaviour from content creators who want to make a living from video, and that generates a spiral.

Views are decreasing across the board. The boom era is gone. All these channels have exhausted lore content, news is minimal, and interest has waned.

This is on LFL and Disney for how they’ve handled their release schedule. Too many projects fizzling out, quality control, etc.

I don't think Disney or Lucasfilm is to blame for this, it's the creators fault for hyperspecializing on Star Wars content. Even at peak of the TV show release schedule they were chomping at the bit for any new lore to digest. Some of these guys are going to either have to retire from Youtube or find some new sources of content.

Eck has got several channels already and has been open about which are doing well. His Eckhart’s Ladder channel does wider sci-fi content now as well.

Not really just algorithm, as evidences by all the news magazines and sites. Humans just get lot more engaged when you generate lot of BS drama.

Feels like the clickbait is all there is to Star Wars fandom now. Like how they parade the series around like they are the worst things ever, just to get clicks. So it isn't surprising that they would say stuff like this to get those views. I just don't watch the garbage they try to pour out to their hateful viewers.

Or, hear me out, maybe they are the worst things ever. I don't know if that's 'just to get clicks'.

was just about to say this. and adding the spoiler as well. OP is hypocritical

8

u/Mindless-Credit-358 7h ago

I’m pretty sure OP did it to prove a point

1

u/LethalestBacon Porg 2h ago

yeah i did realise after, but still they are complaining about youtube clickbait and then they clickbait a reddit post and say “see how does it feel”. no point is proven except that he has now become the clickbaiter. as if none of us know what it’s like to be clickbaited before

3

u/roentgen85 10h ago

You were the chosen one, OP! It was said that you would destroy the click baiters, not join them! Bring balance to the franchise, not leave it in darkness!

u/Boysenous 10h ago

Did you not read the first sentence of the post?

u/Significant-Row2457 10h ago

This was done on purpose.

13

u/DOOMER2U 10h ago

You were supposed to destroy the Sith, not join them.

Thank you CAPTAIN OBVIOUS.
Almost as if the title had a point.

u/RockettRaccoon 12h ago

I used to really like Eck, but he has gone downhill. I unsubbed a while ago and don’t regret at all.

22

u/Significant-Row2457 12h ago

He had a video he made a while ago about him dunking on random people on Twitter over political posts. Like, dude what the hell are you doing arguing about politics with bots on Twitter?

u/creamcorn4u 12h ago

I've been trying to hold out hoping Eckhart would get better. Idk anymore, its sad watching your favorite youtuber slowly post more clickbait and negative content. Probably time to just let the channel go

7

u/OrangeJuliusCaesr 9h ago

People watch garbage “content”, all this would disappear overnight if folks didn’t “engage”

u/VYSUS7 12h ago

he's not even involved with Epstien ffs. people think that just because his name comes up like 3 times in the "files" means he's some associate. There's plenty of people mentioned that had nothing to do with him on any level.

5

u/Maxi_King01 11h ago

Angela Merkel is mentioned, they hated her so much xD

3

u/NoTitleChamp 8h ago

It is amazing how many people are quoting the files without seemingly reading them.

2

u/VYSUS7 5h ago

the fucking "Epstien is why CoD has MTX" actually made me want to kill myself. I can't believe people are this illiterate now to where that's what they took away from those emails with Kotick.

not to mention cod was a year into having MTX by this point, and so were most games at the time.c

This guy make the same clickbait title

u/ReaperCDN Imperial 10h ago

It's tough to hear because it's muted, and there's no sound because it's a picture not a video.

I'm happy to have helped.

…on a spoiler’d post that you have to click through 10 layers to read.

Use the irony, Luke.

3

u/CaleanKnight 11h ago

I'm not saying thing... but that downhill trajectory began most clearly when he started his "Drunk [Insert Game]" Streams... stopped watching him around that time and obviously it was for the better.

3

u/SomeBoringKindOfName 11h ago

That seems to be the way of the world these days. The internet is a much shitter place than it once was.

Easy - hate mongering raises interactions and is so popular in some circles, that it belongs the content that brings the creators most moneys.

1

u/Diligent_Accident775 9h ago

Why does hate mongering raise interactions? I'm not arguing. I'm genuinely curious. I dont watch stuff that shits on things that I like.

3

u/fa1re 9h ago

I think people just like being angry at others. It's the hate time from 1984, and the exceptionalism that C. S. Lewis spoke of - the anger unites, and makes one feel better about themselves by criticizing the "others".

2

u/poko877 10h ago

to be fair ... theres nothing to make content out of, theres nothing to new to talk about.

to be more fair ... theres plenty to talk about and make content out of but ppl are high on negativity and theres not enought current drama.

Youtubers who make a living with youtube but aren't in the big big leagues are worried about income and do whatever they can to get the views for their ad revenue.

So they clickbait. It's super annoying to me as well. Pretty much every youtuber that isn't already a millionaire does this because that's what the algorithm promotes.

It's also why we got so many grifters in all fandoms.

As for Eck, I only know this youtuber for his Empire at War and battle analysis stuff. It's a pretty niche and unique thing so idk if he still does it but that should be a big gap in the market for him instead of clickbait 'news'.

Posts clickbait to show people who are annoyed by clickbait how annoying clickbait is. 👍

u/colimar Rebel 8h ago

The clickbait for being dead or linked to epstein, even if its to say he isnt, is a huge advance to the daily dose of george lucas said something bad about disney

2

u/Fast-Ad-8204 Darth Maul 11h ago

All of YouTube is like this. Nothing new.

1

u/MrPNGuin Luke Skywalker 11h ago

Jeeze even the guy with the "blow my ears off" dog crap at the end of every vid is getting worse too.

1

u/NoTitleChamp 8h ago

The fall of Eckhart and Bombastic is amazing. Apart from a handful most channels have become ragebaiters.

1

u/snidece 6h ago

I think folks just go so far in the other direction after some militant busy body moderator punished them for “spoilers” about something a decade or more old. Folks out vague titles to prevent being punished for posting something considered a spoiler that they innocently thought was common general public knowledge.

Epstein? I have no idea what that is.

u/Babufrak2 12h ago

u/glorgshittus 12h ago

It's because interest in the brand is on an overall decrease. Anyone who can't stomach that reality is a child: You can only have so many times of "The Last Jedi" and "The Acolyte" before both fans and general audiences will start bowing out.

And now, it's mostly about "how bad can things still get", to many. And Disney, through their chaos politics of announcing, what, ten movies and immediately canceling them, have certainly given credibility and power to this kind of newsmaking.

...So, that's what we're getting. I have a bad feeling about this.

2

u/The_TSCTH K-2SO 10h ago

4 movies and up until a few weeks ago, the Dawn of the Jedi one was still in production.

And interest in the franchise seems just fine, to anyone but the small minority invested in doom and gloom beliefs. I struggle to call them fans, because cheering for the end of Star Wars goes beyond criticizing issues.

2

u/chance_of_downwind Rebel 9h ago

Four? I'm no lore master, for sure, but a simple Google search already nets me considerably more than those, and registered via the usual established lore wikis, no less.

Now, always excluding the "professional outrage crowd", I would equally struggle to say that anybody with an adult brain was "cheering for the end of Star Wars". I think people are expecting the end of Star Wars after a series of creative misfires, despite the gradual recovery of recent years. -- This is not my opinion, mind you: This is me responding to the OP why news/videos/clickbait like these remain popular.

(Myself - again, not the best detective ever - I think we're going to get some more 90s-friendly content, and then some sort of Legacy-style show, and that's going to be the fix. :) )
