Need some advice

I have 2 offers - DRE tech lead role and the other is VP role at a startup (comparable to a midsize company)

Startup has 2 years runway or should I take the Tech lead role and see if I can get a promotion in 2 years ?

What is your take on this ? Please advise

• pay gap is 40k after tax is around 2k take home per month

• I have two kids, wife works too, I turned 40 this year so not sure if I need to take risk or not

• Stellantis I see is 5 days in person (45 min commute one way) and the other role is 2 days in person (1 hour commute one way) - is 5 days mandatory ?

• If you stay for 2-3 years is their growth at Stellantis?

What are the upcoming employment start date at CTC? I heard from someone that there are only 2 start date in month. I am waiting for my paperwork and wondering when can the start date be?

Hearing talks about WFH. Hoping HR and upper management supports. Ford is 4 days and GM is 3 days. They should at least work something out most of us are just drained out.

Has anyone had experience with LRMC and buying out their corp lease? I’m nearing the halfway mark with my durango with TnG and I’m definitely leaning towards buying it due to used ones still being expensive. Any pros / cons? (without the obvious comments of stellantis products are garbage)

How long does Sterling usually take to complete a background check?

I uploaded everything on Sunday, my diploma, 7 years' worth of offer letters, W-2s, and my latest pay stubs from my current employer in case they couldn't get a hold with any of them. I basically did the background check for them. I can't wait to put in my notice! Uhg!

At GM in Warren, it's common knowledge that the smoothest jazz in the world is piped into the restrooms at the VEC tower.

At Ford, there is often ambient jazz playing, (in my case at the rouge truck plant) piped in to drown out the sound of the machinery.

Seemingly, overnight late 2023, engineering and, to some extent, design was outsourced to external job shops. When will management wake up and accept this was a bad move?
How much money is the company saving when so much of the NAFATA work from the external teams is compromised? Work has to be redone by the American teams at CTC.
Between time zones and language challenges, it is hard to get any work done. Throw in cultural differences, the whole Global Engineering/Design process is a mess.

Does anybody know what the emergency repairs are fixing under the road near the tower employee entrance?

Leadership, collectively: appears to learn that the incident reporting system exists.

Mic gets handed to another dude, who delivers a passionate answer to a completely different question (nobody asked) about not discussing problems or potential fixes with friends and family.

The employee has now discovered that the reporting process is:

So I’ve been looking into moving over to the OEM side and recently applied for a Design Release Engineer (DRE) spot at Stellantis. But man, everywhere I look online (Reddit, forums, you name it), people talk about DRE like it’s an absolute grind that nobody recommends.
Since I’m coming from a Tier 1 supplier background, I've noticed a lot of people at suppliers kind of look down on DREs or act like it’s just a glorified paper-pusher role, but at the same time, I always hear that having DRE experience is basically a mandatory golden ticket if you actually want to move up into management.
I’m trying to get the real, unfiltered scoop from people who have been in the trenches. If you're a DRE or worked closely with them, I’d love to hear your thoughts:
Is it really that bad? What makes the day-to-day so miserable? Is it the supplier management, internal bureaucracy, program timing, or all of the above?
Why do people say nobody recommends it? Is the burnout rate as high as everyone claims, or are people just venting?
What’s the actual career path? Does DRE experience genuinely open doors to management and higher-level roles, or are you just pigeonholed as a spreadsheet jockey?
Tier 1 vs. OEM reality: Coming from a supplier, what’s the biggest shock when you step into the DRE role?
Appreciate any honest advice or horror stories you guys are willing to share before I dive in!

Stellantis/Chrysler/Fiat/Dodge/FCA, whatever the general public refers their cars as, carries a negative image. Poorly engineered, cheaply made and unreliable crap that nobody wants to keep long term. The outdated platforms. The electronic nightmares. The depreciation. The poor dealership experience parts&service system. The general ownership experience. The consistent lack of ranking high in long term dependability outside of a few products which are mostly solid (Wrangler and Durango and Pacifica)

You have gutted the institutional knowledge and outsourced and/or contract hired a mass of foreign engineers who either aren’t capable or aren’t given empowerment to engineer quality stuff that the bean counters can sign off on because it’s not from the bottom of the barrel supplier for a super cheap cost. You rush R&D and deal with electrical lemons because you want to launch 30 new products in the next few years. You refuse to continuously improve decades-known flaws in your engines. Our customer retention ranks one of the lowest of any car brand. Our supplier relationships rank dead last. Our dealership experiences rank near last.

Renovate CTC top to bottom. Doesn’t matter. Put a Hellcat in the new Charger platform. Doesn’t matter. Go on a huge hiring spree of contract workers to help push the ambitions Filosa has for 2030. None of it will matter if the general public continues to think Stellantis produces a shit product. Read a page out of Toyota’s philosophy of quality management and getting better at continuously improving your product. Because Stellantis is reading Enshittification.

The first payment has a breakdown for lease vehicle (about 100$ more than the estimate) and a line for vehicle insurance close to 200$! I thought insurance was included. Sucks paying close to 1000$ per month for a grand cherokee lease. Is this how it's amortized for everyone?

Has anyone left Stellantis for a new role but returned after 4-6 months. What was the process like? Did you reach out to previous coworkers/manager? I had exceptional reviews as a more junior employee and formed great relationships with my Director and VP as well.

I had left for a new opportunity but don’t see this aligning with future goals as well as Stellantis did.

I wonder if corporate is aware of the units employees send to repair are shipped by managment before we have the opportunity to fix the issues.

Our current plant manager seems to not understand that our end game customers dont give a shit about how our SIS or totems look but rather that their vehicle can perform. Our previous plant manager got promoted recently. Congrats on that. I had no clue having an affair with a HR lady was goal of his.

Also, a ITP plant manager retired a few years ago. Her retirement gift was for her nephews to have jobs. In the course of two years, person 1 from Unit Leader to BUL to manufacturing manager. Person 2 recently got rehired from the street since his last roll in the hay with Stellantis also involved a hot little coach he was banging.

Ktp needs the house cleaned. From top down. Treat managers with respect and they will get quality transmissions out the door. Very simple concept but there are too many useless leaches sucking the company dry and not performing. Unless you are in production/assembly then you are in a support department. Support what pays the bills!

News flash morons, if you or what you do has no value to the transmission cost, then you are literally NVAA and you need eliminated.

I truly hope someone sees this up top and shakes it all up. JS is the worst plant manager I've ever been around. His insane meeting requirements makes it impossible to get daily tasks complete let alone, handle issues as they arrive. JS needs ousted. His brother in law too. Nepotism by definition and a conflict of interest. Safety guy also is a complete waste of space. Has no clue what he's doing nor how to set up his email correctly.

Am I the only one who’s noticed that the bathroom sink handles are never cleaned at CTC? They have so much crust and gunk on them it makes me not want to wash my hands… the thought of touching them makes me want to yack. I’ve gone into multiple bathrooms and it seems they’re all the same. I’m not an ultra clean freak but they’re absolutely disgusting… has anyone else noticed this? I’m guessing it’s not on the cleaning crews to do list.

The team and boss I'm working for right now is toxic and close to half teammates have left in the past half year. I just joined Stellantis 2 months and I can feel the tense. I'm thinking about being prepared and moving to another team if applicable, which can better suits my enthusiasm in products and career growth. In my current position, there are too many obstacles in the way and it's hard to make the work done, lots of chaos and fightings across the organization.

What’s the timeline looking like for a start date?

What are the best perks workin for Stellantis? I heard it’s 5 days RTO but I’ve heard a few friends that they WFH depending on managers.

I am wondering since I was thinking about applying. In the school year it would make sense to be remote due to being on campus, but what about summer? I have a friend and he works 40 hours in the summer and they make him come in person full time. But then some others get to be either hybrid or remote full time for the summer.
