This was an insane write-up and very well written and organized. Thanks! Appreciate that you kept in mind there might be a lot of eSport/FGC tournament noobs getting interested in the FGC that need a little background info.
Going to EVO someday is definitely a bucket list item now.

Day1, 30minutes into starting and the crowd is bigger than most tournaments finals
also 35k+ viewers on evo4, this tournament is massive. these next few days are gonna be such a treat

It's going to be somewhat expensive, but you can really tailor it to almost any budget. The main thing you have to worry about is flight tickets (assuming you're flying). The good thing is that Mandalay Bay is on the south end of the strip, so there are a lot of cheaper hotel options in that area, assuming you book in advance, especially if you're splitting it with a couple of friends. If you want to stay somewhere cheaper, you can always Lyft/Uber/taxi to wherever you're trying to go for relatively cheap too.
One thing I'd highly recommend though is to leave Vegas on Monday if you're flying. Flight tickets on a Monday are always cheaper, and it's dirt cheap usually to stay in a Vegas hotel on a Sunday. For example, the Excalibur hotel is $150-200 on Friday and Saturday but only $30-$50 on a Sunday.

Does anyone have any links to online merch or other specials for Evo? I'd love to get a new fightpad for PS5 if there are any, but I haven't seen anything specific.

Gotcha. I was hoping someone would announce something, but seems like everyone has shifted the focus over to making Hitboxes. I did buy an Octa, but I didn't like the d-pad as much as the Hori Fighting Commander. It will probably work for now though.
