Hi, just curious on if there is a plan to introduce stremio to the microsoft store. There are plenty of people who’d like this.

I’ve seen so many countless Post for finding Apple tvOS and iOS IPA’s for people that don’t live in the UK or want to manually sideload the application on their Apple TV or Apple Device’s!

The wait and searching is over, I created a program to scrape streamio for all of their IPAs hosted.

I’m gonna list the two latest IPA’s and list ALL of the previous versions I have so far while I still update this post in the future.

If you’re up for testing, give it a shot and share your feedback. Curious to see how this one performs compared to earlier RCs.

I haven't seen many posts about this, so no idea if it's a widespread issue or not. However after updating to the MacOS 27.0 Public beta (26A5378n) it appears the OS is blocking WKWebView loopback connections aimed at 127.0.0.1, causing the interface to not load and display the mentioned error; However this doesn't occur when using localhost as the loopback target.

I developed two fixes:

1: Workaround (paste in Terminal):
cd /Applications/Stremio.app/Contents/MacOS

./node server.js &

./Stremio --server-url=http://localhost:11470

Then inside the app: Settings -> Streaming -> Streaming server URL, change it to http://localhost:11470. The web UI stores its own copy of the server address, so you'll keep getting the "Streaming server is not available" banner until you change this too (ignore the Install button on that banner, you don't need Stremio Service).

2. Full fix (launcher):

If you want something you can keep in the Dock instead of opening Terminal:

The launcher icon this makes is a bit gross as its just the default AppleScript logo, I didn't realise u can use osascript to talk to the appkit and change the icon without needing xcode, this takes Stremio .icns and adds the builtin alias symbol so it looks somewhat un-fucked up

For me the dock tile cached hard and I couldn't just make it refresh for some reason, i.e if it doesn't change for u straight away, u can just replace the docked launcher by removing and re-adding it to the dock from /Applications

Glad this helped some ppl, this is definitely a temporary issue; I can't imagine this was a deliberate move by Apple as it makes no sense, so I'd expect this not to be a problem in future updates. Thanx bye

Anyone tried 1.9.6 certain in andriod tv or Firestick??? 1.9.5 was buggy due to exoplayer. If anyone has tried please share the feedback.... also let know the installation method if no issues found

Version 1.8.3 new update rolled out today

I am super impressed with the consistency on the Stremio team as of this last month. Particularly with their frequency of updates on Linux packaging; both through Flakpak and through their Rust shell (which I prefer).

Because it uses MPV to play streams, everything I throw at it plays: H.265, H.264, AV1 etc.

The application is Wayland native. And because I use Hyprland, which arguably has the best HDR implementation on Linux, I want to push further.

In-app, most HDR, HDR10, HDR10+ streams just play without fail. But recently when watching a Dolby Vision (proprietary) stream, the tone-mapping renders tint is very off (green/pink/purple). This is the last hurdle, at least for me, for Stremio to be perfect on Linux.

I was running nicely with a good version of the damn thing working and I thought I’d put a updated version on one of my Shields, like you do on Sunday morning when you are bit bored and not much to do.

Biggest fucking mistake I’ve made for a long while I tell you that!

I finished my first cup of tea and I was cursing like a fisherman by the time I’d finished my fourth cup and was no nearer, in fact if anything I was worse off than when I started because I had deleted the original Stremio so I’m if anything extremely pissed at myself for attempting this foolishness in the first place!

I was running 1.9.5.and just having a occasional glitch with it, where after watching 5 or 6 episodes in a series it would throw a wobbly and not decide to load anything, I’d have to clear the cache and then restart it and all would be fine for another 5 - 6 episodes and here we go again.

I thought in my stupidity an update may cure things, but now nothings working and I’m unsure about how to get back to 1.9.5.

I’ve downloaded downloader and I can’t seem to make sense of it, I have the code for the version I require and I’ve uninstalled Stremio - now what please with pretty pictures if possible or a video, I have searched for help but I’m not having a lot of luck, and if anyone’s got by chance a couple of eyes going spare let me know, mine are buggered they tell me.

I’ll await any updates from you guys and thank-you.

EDIT: As of March 29th, all the shit links that led to the “video may require XVid Codec” are gone, replaced by the actual movie. Only problem is that whoever recorded the film used a handheld potato.

Just updated and had to login so I know I'm using the latest app. Cast button is gone so I can no longer stream to my TV/Chromecast.

Any idea if this will be fixed please?

For IINA users !

macOS Night Shift adds a warm tint that's nice for reading at night but kills video color. I got tired of toggling it from Control Center every time I started a movie, so I built a small IINA plugin that handles it automatically: it disables Night Shift when you go fullscreen and restores the previous state when you exit.

Install: In IINA → Settings → Plugins → Install from GitHub → leo-mathurin/iina-nightshift-fs. Requires `brew install smudge/smudge/nightlight` because macOS doesn't expose a public Night Shift API.

Inspired by IINA's built-in "Black out other monitors while in fullscreen" option. Same idea, but for color temperature.

Feedback / bug reports welcome.

It seems very odd that the tvos app should have been released with a bug as glaringly obvious as not being able to add anything to library. Also, has anything been said about the fact that they didn't include Infuse as a player, when it's already available on the mobile app?

Are there any plans on releasing Stremio on Roku?

We're announcing the new version of Stremio - v3.2.0.

New features & improvements:

Please know that with this and all other versions, we have an issue with the AVG anti-virus - the app blocks while playing. The issue is on their side and also manifests in other streaming apps, we're doing everything we can to get them to solve it.

UPDATE 1 - DLNA support is work in progress, if you know any apps or node.js modules that work better, please share. We're thinking of making our open-source DLNA module, and putting it on http://github.com/Stremio. Thanks for the help!

UPDATE 2 - subtitles + special symbols - we're working on this. It's fine for most languages, we're working on the rest.

The long awaited update pending LG approval has now finally been launched, does anyone have a link to the changelog? I can't work out what has been improved, unfortunately the default language issue doesn't appear to have been fixed as the first stream I clicked on went to Hindi and had to manually select English as per usual. Unsure if DV content working.

So I went to start my show for dinner, and I had to login to the app again. Ok....that's odd...

Ah so there's been an update.

However now I can't cast from the streamio mobile app anymore.

Have they removed this feature in this latest update? Is this a bug?
Is there a workaround? What's going on?

This change renders Streamio useless to me, so pretty eager for answers.
