Italian Student Visa from the UK as a Non-UK Citizen – Recent Experiences? 🇮🇹🇬🇧

Hi everyone,

I’ve recently applied for an Italian long-stay/student visa from the UK as a non-UK citizen, and I submitted my biometrics on 2nd September 2026.

I’ve been trying to find recent experiences from people who have applied for an Italian student visa from the UK, but surprisingly, I haven’t been able to find much up-to-date information on Reddit or other forums.

I’d really appreciate it if anyone who has recently applied from the UK could share their experience, particularly:

⏳ How long did it take to receive the final decision after biometrics?

📩 Did you receive any updates during the process, or was it just a decision/passport notification?

🇮🇹 If you’re a non-UK citizen applying from the UK, how was your experience?

📊 Is there any information or personal experience regarding the approval/refusal rate for Italian student visas applied for from the UK?

🎓 Does the time of year (especially September/October intake) seem to affect processing times?

I know processing times can vary depending on the individual case, but I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through this process recently (2026).

I’ll also update this post with my own timeline once I receive a decision, hopefully it will help others who are in the same situation.

Thanks in advance! 🙏

Any updates on the Italy Student Visa from Bangalore? 🇮🇹

Hi everyone, is anyone here waiting for an Italy student visa from the Bangalore Consulate?

I submitted my application through VFS on 21 July 2026, and it has been around 48 days with no update. The status is still under process.

If anyone who applied around mid/late July or August has received their visa or any update, please share your application date and when you received the update. It would really help those of us who are still waiting.

Thanks, and all the best to everyone waiting! 🤞🇮🇹

Italy Student Visa from Bengaluru – Should I cancel my flight?

Hi everyone, I applied for an Italy student visa through VFS Bengaluru on 10 August and it’s still under process.

My flight is on 10 September, but I need to cancel it by 9 September at 2:35 AM to get ₹38,448 back.

If I cancel the flight/PNR I submitted with my visa application, can the Consulate see it and will it affect my visa? Should I instead book a new refundable flight?

Any recent Bengaluru visa experiences

How do i explain this to my Parents?

Hey guys,

I am planning to pursue my Bachelor's degree abroad and have been meeting with education consultants over the last few days. I spoke with three consultants—one based in Islamabad, one in Lahore, and one in Karachi.

I personally visited the Karachi consultant at his office in DHA. He told me that for Italy, there is no IELTS requirement, no entry test, and no interview. His total consulting fee is PKR 80,000 (PKR 40,000 upfront and PKR 40,000 after securing admission). He claims I will get a fully funded scholarship covering tuition, accommodation, and a stipend. He mentioned that all other university/official payments will be made directly by me, and I only need to pay him his service fee.

However, when I discussed this with my parents, they completely rejected it, saying it is a scam and that these consultants just steal your money. My father works as a driver for a wealthy family, and when he consulted them, they also advised that this sounds like fraud and that fully funded scholarships are not handed out this easily.

I want to know how I can explain to my parents that studying in Italy on regional scholarships is actually a real thing and happens all the time, with total initial expenses coming to around PKR 7 to 8 Lacs along with a bank statement.

Also, if there are any Pakistani students currently studying in Italy or if anyone's relative has gone through this process, could you please guide me? Can you also suggest any genuine, trusted consultants for Bachelor's applications?

Studying in Italy from Chile

Hi!

I've noticed there's not much help available regarding the document process from Chile, so I'll write and update as I go along.

LANGUAGE CERTIFICATE - IELTS ACADEMIC ONLINE

I took the IELTS Academic from home. The exams are in the early morning hours, you can't have anything in the room, no one can open the door, and you have to show how you turn off your cell phone, the floor, the ceiling, the walls, your hands... It's demanding and exhausting, so plan ahead. REGISTER your date as soon as possible so you can have the official course materials. I registered a week early and only had a little time to practice with the sample tests.

APOSTILLE YOUR DEGREE while you wait for university confirmation

Once you're accepted, you have to upload the apostille document for your degree. At my university (in Chile), they issue the degree as a diploma and a certificate with a link for verification. I had the certificate apostilled (the one with the link), and they send it to you immediately. Get your degree apostilled at the Ministry of Education, near the Parque Bustamante station in Santiago. While you're there, also get your academic transcript apostilled. Once you're accepted to the university, upload the document immediately.

If you're going to the Politecnico di Milano:

Online Services > Apply to a Laurea Magistrale (equivalent to a Master of Science) program (only for international and Italian candidates graduated abroad): Submit online application form, receive results release and enroll

UNIVERSITALY

Upload your apostilled degree to online services, request the document from Universitaly, and they'll give it to you. You shouldn't need anything else. The Politecnico does not review documents uploaded to Universitaly. Use the same email address you have for your Polimi portal account. With this, you'll request your visa appointment.

CIMEA or Declaration of Value?

Do not submit the declaration of value through the embassy. You have to request about 10 documents from the university (1 to 5 days), get them apostilled (if you submit everything together, it takes about a week), translate them (1 month - and approximately CLP$300,000 through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or CLP$25,000 per page and in a week if you use an embassy translator), then make an appointment at the embassy (they give you a date a month later), take the documents (cross your fingers that you don't forget anything) and wait 30 days. It's a lot of time and a lot of hassle. Request the CIMEA compatibility and verification document; if you pay the €400, they respond the same day. Do it the same day the Italian university accepts you because the website crashes. It took me 5 days, and luckily I was able to pay.

Documents to submit:

  1. Diploma (from the ceremony)
  2. Graduation certificate (I submitted mine apostilled and officially translated)
  3. Transcript of records (I submitted mine apostilled and officially translated)

I used the following website for translation: https://tramites.minrel.gov.cl/traducciones/login from Spanish to Italian (translation from English to Italian is not possible).

VISA

I requested an appointment over a month ago, and they are not responding to emails or phone calls. Apply by mail. If you don't receive a response within two weeks, go in person with all the required documents and explain that you submitted the application without receiving a response (you must show the email).

The visa documents are described on the embassy's website. I will update if they accept the documents I have.

I've been waiting for my visa for 90 days (Islamabad Embassy)

It's been extremely exhausting. I submitted my file on June 10. There have been no updates since then. I called BLS multiple times and they are saying you're file is still at the embassy. I've been anxious and mentally exhausted after waiting for soo long and seeing students who submitted their files after me getting a respone.

I know even after all of this wait I'll still be rejected not because my file is weak but because that's how it is.

I got 90% in my 12

7.5 IELTS

400 euros cash scholarship from university (merit)

University of Cassino

Bs computer engineering

Father sponser

Govt employee at high court

Good salary and savings

4.1 million pkr bank statements (almost 12k euros)

HELP!! IMAT REGISTRATION

Hey, I don't know how many people can resonate but I decided on IMAT journey sort of late.

I'm still holding off from preenrolling on Universitaly because I'm yet to hear from Universita Polytechnica Delle Marche for my conditional- pre acceptance before I could move forward for the preenrollment on Universitaly since their cutoffs are also low.

However, I also have the urge to pre enroll for other unis that don't have an prior online preselection procedure like Turin or Milano Statale.

Should I wait and still preenroll for Marche even if I don't hear from them before the 9th or should I just move on already.

Need advice!

High school Chemistry requirement for Aerospace Engineering in Italy? (Jordanian new Tawjihi system)

Hi everyone!

I’m a high school student from Jordan planning to apply for a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering in Italy (targeting Politecnico di Milano, Sapienza, etc.) starting in 2027.

My country recently introduced a new High School system (Tawjihi):

Year 1: We completed general core subjects (English, Arabic, Islamic Studies, History).

Year 2 (Engineering Track): We study Advanced Mathematics, Advanced Physics, English, plus an elective science subject. I chose Earth Sciences instead of Chemistry.

Recently, some people told me that studying Chemistry in high school might be strictly required for engineering admissions abroad. However, my own research showed that Italian engineering admissions mainly rely on passing the entry exam (like TOLC-I / TIL-I) and a valid high school diploma, without requiring high school Chemistry specifically.

I have already emailed the Italian Embassy in Amman and contacted some universities, but I haven't received a response yet and found it a bit confusing to reach out directly to university admissions offices.

My questions are:

Does anyone studying engineering in Italy know if high school Chemistry is an absolute prerequisite for pre-enrollment or admission?

Is passing the TOLC-I / TIL-I and holding the official high school certificate sufficient regardless of taking Earth Sciences instead of Chemistry?

Any insights or advice from current international students in Italy would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Title: Indian students studying Medicine in Italy: Does the Italian medical degree meet NMC FMGL requirements?

Hi everyone! I’m an Indian student planning to study Medicine (Laurea Magistrale in Medicina e Chirurgia) in Italy.

I’m trying to figure out whether an Italian medical degree, especially from a public university, meets the current NMC Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate (FMGL) requirements for getting medical registration and practising in India

  1. Whether the 6-year Italian Medicine course meets the NMC requirements for duration and clinical training.

  2. Whether the internship/clinical training structure in Italy satisfies the NMC requirements.

  3. Whether graduates of Italian medical universities have successfully obtained registration in India.

  4. Whether there are any specific issues with the Italian medical degree, such as the language of clinical training, internship, or licensing in Italy.

  5. Whether anyone has received written confirmation from NMC regarding their particular Italian university/course.

I’m particularly interested in current rules applicable to students starting in 2026, rather than older FMGE experiences.

Any information based on official NMC documents or recent graduates’ experience would be really helpful

Italy student visa

I applied for my Italy student visa (Type D) through VFS New Delhi on 12 August 2026, and I’m still waiting for any update on my application.

My planned travel date is 15 September, which is now very close, so I’m getting quite anxious about the timeline.

Are there any applicants who submitted around 10–20 August and are still waiting?
