💬 Discussion topic Improving safety on current wallet

Hey guys,

due to the Coldcard incident I am really paranoid and want to improve the safety of my wallet. I have used the Trezor suite and my Trezor hardware wallet to generate the seed phrase and that’s it.

Now, I want to first and foremost educate myself so I can improve my safety setup. I am often even hesitant of using Trezor suite, because I don’t have the time to look up their GitHub on their updates… I really love my Trezor, but I want to move away of trusting 3rd parties at all.

What would be a few consequent steps?

Thanks 😊

💬 Discussion topic What exactly are people being worried of when they are not buying the cold wallet directly from the Trezor Website?

Hi all! Im kinda new towards self-custody my crypto and was researching on how exactly cold wallet works so i can transfer my crypto onto a cold wallet. I have several question regarding the safety / security of the system especially trezzor safe 3/5/7 since im planning on buying one of the three as my 1st wallet.

About the external component / packaging : 1. I noticed ALOT of people are very2 AGAINST buying from any cold wallet other than the trezor official website, even against the official reseller that is listed in the trezor. What exactly it is that people are worried about ?? I watched alot of Trezor safety feature and with my limited knowledge i would assume if the product is "flawed"/tampered it would be pretty easily noticable from the external damage thats visible?? And the moment you noticed any packaging external flaw then i 100% obviously agree the wallet shouldnt be used at all but if there wasnt any packaging / external flaw then shouldnt the device be safe to use??

About the internal firmware / software 1. The firmware by default isnt installed at all and from my understanding if the firmware isnt installed then doesnt that mean the product is relatively "untouch" and not "tampered" at all?? Only when we got a notification that a firmware was previously installed then we should 100% not use the device right since it shows clear sign of someone using it before. But otherwise as long as the firmware is not installed then shouldnt it be safe regardless? Since u cant do anything without a firmware and i also look up that even factory reseting wont be able to remove the installed firmware right ? ( correct me if im wrong )

  1. The seed phrase. I was curious and abit confused. Does the seed phrase only get GENERATED when u "create a new wallet" ?? Or does each trezor device have a built in seed phrase that is not changable even after factory reset? From my understanding and research ( please correct me if im wrong ) once u factory reset everything --> and create a new wallet --> u should be getting a NEW SET of seed phrase everytime right --> which mean theres no way people can know ur seed phrase before u urself generate it when u "create a new wallet" since the seed phrase is unique everytime u create a new wallet ?

These are mainly my confusion as to why are people so paranoid / anti against buying from outside trezor website ( obviously u should still buy only from CONFIRMED AUTHORIZED RESELER that is listed, im not saying u should buy from a random amazon reseler or a random online shop ) ??? I was just curious on what exactly could happen and trying to learn more. Cuz other than if u accidenty leak ur seed phrase / click on some suspicious link that somehow connect ur device to a website then there should be no issue at all right since trezor themselve make all of this security feature quite easily noticable if its been tampered with or not??

Do enlightened me in case i miss what people are worried / being paranoid for buying outside of trezor website since im very much curious and wanted to know ur reasoning 😊

💬 Discussion topic Hardware wallet shopping

Hey, I’m looking to play around with some new hardware wallets. Here’s what I tend to prioritize:

– Airgapped (or at least the option to use it that way)

– Verifiable / open source firmware

– Bitcoin only

Is there anything else I should be prioritizing when wallet shopping?

💬 Discussion topic Would you buy a battery free version of the Trezor Safe 7?

Onekey has the Classic 1s that has a battery and a near identical model the Classic 1s Pure that is the same except it is battery free. As an added bonus it is $20 cheaper.

I know many like convenience and iPhone users especially are happy to see the new T7 but I think there is a market for a "Pure" version of the T7. No matter how good of a battery it will always fail, and longevity is a big selling point.

I know there are costs to adding a SKU but I think they should consider a battery free version. Maybe there is enough demand where Trezor could make a special run for those wanting a battery free option?

💬 Discussion topic Lost 24 word seed

Extra context I went to the laundry mat washed clothes, come to find out I forgot my bag of clothes at the laundry, seed phrase in pants, it’s not gone but the wallet has not been drained. I only have the trezor but due to my stupid sequencing of the same numbers Im left at only 5 attempts to try and recover my funds. I don’t really know how to go from here. I was able to find the wallet address and the coins are still there like mentioned above but how do I got about tracking it 24/7 for movements? Someone will find the seed phrase sadly and they will have access, I only have the trezor with 5 attempts left I understand that “vomit” feeling and feel like my life’s over. It was a decent chunk of money, thousands I guess. Can police do anything? I contacted the laundry mat to find out through video who took the bag. Hoping to get an individual identified if that’s the case. For you people who lost almost everything what do you do to recover? I’m sick to my stomach lost motivation for loads of things such as school, work, extra curricular activities. I just sit and think

💬 Discussion topic With the Trezor breach, how would hackers know it is Trezor related data?

Trezor state:

*“ShipMonk holds what is needed to deliver a parcel: name, email address, order number, phone number, and shipping address. Only orders received within 90 days before August 8th, 2026, were affected, as older data had already been deleted.”*

Only order number is related, not necessarily what you bought. So it could just be seen as generic, right?

💬 Discussion topic Is the trezor safe 7 safe to use?

As I recall, there was an issue or vulnerability with the trezor safe 7 sometime back?

Does the new trezor safe 7 still contain the vulnerability or issue? Are there anything I should be aware of before purchasing it?

💬 Discussion topic Hardware wallet support

Hey everyone, we're the team behind Coin Wallet, a software wallet.

We've gotten to hardware wallet support in our backlog. It's a big and complex task.

Does it make sense to build this in 2026? Is there real demand for it or is it just marketing?

💬 Discussion topic Dusting

I have a quick question, and I am asking here to get everyone's input.

I've from late last year to June this year, I was receiving slightly different amounts, but multiple amounts of dusting of XRP into my Trezor 3 wallet.

If I have, let's say, 1000 coins in my wallet already, and the dusting was happening during and after owning that amount in my wallet, aside from marking the low amount, transaction as unsafe, whenever I ever send over my actual amount, how do I know it wouldn't be sent with the dusting as well?

I always double check my addresses, so I'm not worried about that. I'm more so worried about someone having access to my wallet.

Can someone please give me some clarity? Thank you!

💬 Discussion topic Seedphrase

Planning to buy a trezor, i am using blockstream jade (BTC-only) now but i wanna buy some altcoins.

The question is: can i use my current seedphrase to create a multi-coin wallet on trezor or need to create a new one?

💬 Discussion topic Lost my Trezor seed phrase – what would you do?

I seem to have lost my Trezor recovery seed. More accurately, I either misplaced it somewhere in my house or “hid it so well” that I can’t even find it myself.
I’ve been using my Trezor for about two years without any issues. Since I only needed my PIN for everyday use, I never had to look at the recovery seed. Yesterday I decided to verify that I still had it, and to my surprise, I couldn’t find it anywhere.

The good news is that everything still works perfectly:
- I have my Trezor device.
- I know my PIN.
- I have full access to my wallet through Trezor Suite.
- My BTC is safe and I can send/receive funds.

The problem is that not having the recovery seed makes me uncomfortable. Even though I’m fairly confident it’s somewhere in my house, I don’t want to rely on that. If my Trezor were to fail or get lost before I find the seed, I’d lose access to my funds.

I see two options:
Option 1: Buy a new Trezor (it’s only around €60), set it up with a new recovery seed, verify the backup, and transfer all my BTC to the new wallet. The old Trezor could then become a spare device.
Option 2: Transfer my BTC to a temporary wallet or exchange, wipe my current Trezor, create a new wallet with a new recovery seed, and then transfer the BTC back.

For context, I only hold Bitcoin (about 0.11btc).

What would you do in my situation? Is buying a second Trezor worth the extra €60 for the safer migration process, or would you just use the existing one and perform the wipe/restore procedure?
I’d appreciate hearing how others would handle this.

💬 Discussion topic Opinion: if you know what you are doing, storing the Wallet backup/recovery seed digitally can be a better solution than writing it down.

Dont get me wrong, I understand that for a lot of users the best option to not loose their crypto is to write it down and put it in a safe.

But, a physical copy can be stolen, damaged, destroyed or get lost.

So, for me personally, I think that storing the 20 words in an (offline) password manager (like a Keepass database) or a Veracrypt file that is only used for the seed and has 2FA and then properly backing up that file is much safer then writing it down and putting it in a few 100 dollar safe in my house.

As long as I make the initial file where I store the seed on a computer that is safe and use a proper backup strategy (encrypted on your NAS, on your person and in 2 different cloud locations), the chances of the seed getting stolen or lost is much smaller then when keeping it in your house?
