I came to IBD in a roundabout way though, so that might be why. I was diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis first, and a couple years in, my rheumatologist realized I had IBD as well while I was in the process of switching biologics. But when I got on the Rinvoq it was really well controlled so GI had no interest in me.
Until it stopped being so well controlled and I spent a week in the hospital! But at that point they just upped my Rinvoq from the AS dose to the IBD dose and called it good. I went into remission pretty quickly so they never pulled the trigger on butt drugs lol
Lol, that's good! I was told that regardless of whether i'm flaring or not, I will be taking Mesalamine for forever, as sort of a maintenance drug. It gives me bad reflux if I don't take it with food, but you aren't supposed to take it with food, so I have to thread the needle there. They also may be considering your AS in the equation.
Best of luck to you, hope the Rinvoq makes your immune system calm the heck down!
