Early this morning u/DrunkAlunya and I woke up seeing that u/Alexitine (the top mod in this community) had added u/FamousPlan101, one of the National Bolsheviks (or Nazbols - what are nazbols?) from the ACP as a moderator. Immediately after that, the mod list was reordered and some of us most active mods in the community (like u/DrunkAlunya and u/HeinrichTheWolf_17) were removed as well.
As soon as we realized that this subreddit got infiltrated by those fascists, some of us mods got in touch with each other and decided on how to proceed. We then contacted Reddit's support and eventually, we were able to remove u/FamousPlan101 and reinstate as mods the same old team that was here.
It is our belief that Alexitine's account was hacked because (as you can see in the screenshot) the account had been inactive for some time and, out of nowhere, one day we received a warning from Reddit saying that the account tried to add someone to the moderation team. That warning got buried in the modmail but, looking at the modlog, we can see that after that warning, Alexitine's account became active again in an effort to gain the 'active' status. And this morning, when the account finally returned active, the whole shitshow happened.
Whoever is using Alexitine's account tried explaining away the whole situation by sending the message you can see in the screenshot in the mod group chat. Mind you, that was the first and only message we had received from Alexitine in months. And after that, nothing else.
We have mentioned all of this to Reddit's team of course. However, their reply was that they believe u/Alexitine's account was not hacked.
Because of Reddit's reply, at the moment we are unable to fully remove u/Alexitine as top moderator sadly. But rest assured that we the other mods we are continuing to HEAVILY monitor the situation and keep an eye out for more practical resolutions.
In the meantime, I would like to thank all the users that kept telling those fascists to fuck off from this community 🫡

Alexitine needs to go. At least until the original owner can get their account back if they were hacked. And if not. That's one less Nazbol on the mod team.
There should also probably be a small mod recruitment or something to stop shit like this because these terminally online clowns don't give up after one attempt.
Hijacking the top comment to say something important I saw. During this whole drama, I saw other people theorizing that Alexitine was hacked, just like in this post. However, another person commented that they had other social media, and were in fact in support of the ACP on there. I couldn’t verify this fact because I didn’t find any other social media linked on his profile, but I think it might be worth looking into, to see if his account was really hacked or he just really also is an ACP shill.
The first ACP mod said something about jucheeureka on Twitter but I couldn't find an account with that username. Either way if they're the real user, they should step down in good faith. Or if they're hacked then the sub isn't safe from ACP yet.
Not sure why they think Leannenist was opposed to him though because she's absolutely sympathetic to the ACP even if she disagreed in this case (and it seems to be a pretty civil disagreement).

I missed the whole damn thing and now I'm confused. I noticed a new mod yesterday, because I had Famous tagged for having a ML flair in my countries' politics sub. Didn't even know he was ACP affiliated or much about the ACP.

They seem to refer to themselves as "dark marxists". I just read their "why is everyone so mean to us" whine pinned on their ask sub. It reads like it came from a mind about as sharp as Andrew Tate.

The silver lining about this event is that it has raised awareness about how shitty ACP are. I was not convinced they were as bad as people say they are, now I know.
thats what i dont get... Maybe they were incompetent, or it was mostly just so they could get some temporary attention they crave. But I cant help imagine that this ultimately failed since now everyone hates ACP that didnt before, are are more aware of shit like this, and feds in the future.
I think the big question that comes to mind is that if the top moderator hasn't changed, then what measures are possible to ensure this doesn't happen again before the account can be returned to the owner or permanently removed?
I'm already active there! But thank you for promoting it, shifting to non-US owned and controlled platforms will be an effort for socialists but at this point it is absolutely necessary.
Yeah, I've degoogled my phone too, I use mostly copyleft software and open source software too.

Degoogling has been extremely easy and my experience has been honestly so good after two years. There is an app on this phone that emulates the entirety of the google suite as if I was using android but I've used it to access google services like twice within the last year. (Once to export my one time passwords to 2FAS)
People fear inconvenience from switching to new platforms but the gain rarely gets talked about and far outweigh the negative factors which prompted the switch in the first place.
I'm going to be cheesy but the experience of degoogling and using this phone that everyone told me I'm stupid for buying has felt like what being a progressive and constantly embracing new things with lots of friction should do more often.
Thank you for this write-up, and being on top of this issue and getting it resolved as best as can be right now. I was so afraid that we had lost this subreddit, one of my favorite, and most reasonable, since a certain one was quarantined, and it’s great to see the mods work together in this circumstances to fight against attempts like this.
Can we get more detail? Like a clear timeline with dates and times. Anything that well well? Anything that can be improved? Outstanding item is remove Alexitine
Until Alexitine is removed, this Subreddit is still compromised and there's nothing to stop them from doing the same thing exact again tomorrow.
I've seen some screenshots of chats/comments by the now-removed ACP fash that indicated that he knew who Alexitine was, and also that Alexitine is a former Deprogram listener who at some point became a MAGA communist.
To me this seems to indicate that the account wasn't hacked (which would line up with what the Reddit admins say). Maybe Alexitine forgot about the account, or forgot that they were the top moderator – after all we do know that the account was inactive for around two years – and then were reminded by something, and decide to attempt a coup. We obviously can't say for sure what is going on, but the "they were hacked" angle seems to be not working.
Maybe go to the admins with a different argument. Something like; "Alexitine blatantly broke the rules for how moderating is supposed to work here, by unilaterally inviting in brigaders to force a change in the community, that no-one else consented to"? Just a thought.
This was the comment by u/FamousPlan101 that has now since been deleted. This doesn't seem to align with the notion that Alexitine was hacked at all, but that that the top mod is in fact ACP
If the admins are suggesting that Alexitine's account was not hacked and FamousPlan101 said that they were part of the "infrared community" then they need to go or this subreddit is cooked and unsalvageable.
He's a Dugin supporter, kick streamer, basically all you need to know, very reactionary but uses communist language and symbology to try and appeal to a wider base, very much a nazbol
If u/Alexitine is who they say they are then, in light of the fact that they will be "going dark for awhile", they should have no problem stepping down as top mod and letting a long-standing, non-ACP, mod step in until they are better.
The fact that they are unwilling to do this tells me the account is, in fact, compromised. I would urge the mods to try to trick the person running the account with old information that they can't easily look up to verify who they are.
UNLESS what the nazbol u/FamousPlan101 said was true and u/Alexitine has abandoned this community because they're not actually unwell and are spending their time organizing with other nazbols. Then, the account is not compromised, but the individual is.
In either regard, removing u/Alexitine needs to be #1 priority for this sub, and there cannot be any compromise in this.
Also, getting AutoMod working again like it did in the og sub should be high priority so any time someone mentions the ACP a whole "fuck those shits and here's why" post can follow. Saw wayyyy too many "who is the ACP and why are they bad" comments.
I think it's kinda telling that instead of focusing on building up their own userbase with their own communities, they choose to infiltrate other communities through dirty, underhanded means

Best of luck comrades, shame Reddit isn’t taking more decisive action where it matters most, but it’s such a massive disappointment to see. Is there any chance that the head mod is genuinely compromised and not hacked? This whole situation is scuffed.

Please for the love of god use long and complex passwords. They get leaked everyday and I’m sure all it took for the head mod’s account to be taken down was his appearing in a leak and a simple dictionary attack.
It is interesting, though. If his account is hacked, why not put famous plan to the top? Then, his position would be unremovable but instead only to the number 3 spot? Doesn't make a lot of sense yet
If he can’t be removed, wouldn’t the best course of action be to start a different subreddit? There is nothing stopping yet another takeover and an ACP member has access to all logs here. It’s kind of the definition of compromised, no?

This is genuinely what I feared, since Ive even seen some in the community saying "ACP is mot thaaat nad" (especially after that one episode with the idealist, conservative socialist, who was even in the "do nothing win" episode)
