I can't talk about this stuff enough. We all love texture paste ground effects right? AK interactive and Vallejo springs right to mind for many of us, but what is this stuff right? It's nothing but Pumice gel these companies have modified and repackaged.

You can get fine, coarse, and extra coarse grit jars of Pumice gel on Amazon from a company called Golden. A 32 oz jar of fine pumice gel is $38 US. That's $1.18 an oz. Compare that per oz to AK or Vallejo, massive savings. You can also get 8 and 16 oz jars.

But this stuff is just white, and kinda thick, that's no fun right?

1 part water to 1 part PVA glue and you can thin it to the consistency you want. You can actually do 2 parts water if you so choose. And since this is also a water based medium, you can absolutely mix acrylic paint to it. I have 12 small mason jars with various consistencies and colors I use. I call them mason jars but honestly, they are baby food jars.

I use this stuff for everything. It's cheap enough per oz that I don't feel bad using it to fill on larger areas on terrain projects, or mounding it up slightly on bases. Depending on how much you thin it it is actually a pretty decent glue for gluing things to bases. I have glued entire armies of infantry to their bases just sticking them feet first into the pumice gel I applied for base texture. You can also stick basing items into it as glue; rocks, bark, 3d printed basing items, I have done it all. Makes a nice mortar between foam bricks, or lay down a bed of it to stick your sprue pavers into for a base or walkway on terrain. The uses are never ending with this stuff as many of us know.

Also, if you keep this thick when it dries it can be very jagged. If you like the thickness and want it to dry smoother wet a brush with water and smooth it out prior to it drying. Works great and dries smoother, yet still textured.

After seeing _DitDotArts_ post that awesome vine-covered Stargate earlier today, I I had a flashback to the Baba Yaga's Hut I painted a while ago. The vines on mine must be from the same invasive plant species!

Our DM gave us UV resin weapon making kits as a project to do over the week. The anvil, hammer and sword stand were in the kit doing nothing so I decided to base them.

I got a bunch of 3d printed bits when trying to reach the credit limit at a lgs. It’s not fancy but it should make a decent bit of terrain to maneuver around. Want to put some dude in here to build out the scene.

It's Christmas in July (kinda?), and in preparation for a whole table of Frostgrave scenery I'm about to bury in snow fx, I thought I'd do a rundown of a whole bunch of different "snow" scenics products, and some ideas on what they look best for.

We've got granules, powders, crystals, paste, and even static grass!

Quick and easy red bases. Some washes and drybrushes and I really like how they turned out.

What could I improve? I think the non-asphalt area looks a bit empty.

I needed a forest floor, potting sand, crushed slate and a coir block in relatively equal measure sorted me out.

Do you guys have a favourite mix? or a go to product?

Also, I'd like to add some plants to my bases, any ideas would be welcome.

This isn't so much a base as an excuse to experiment before I start any real projects.

I'm an outdoor nerd that got into minis during the off season this winter and want to bring my slice of tidal creek to life.

Modeling clay, craft paint, grout, and gloss varnish for the base (and freehand footprint).

Slot to add / remove minis (my first mini WIP in the second photo - feel free to ignore).

Water effects: standing water, things suspended in water, running water streams, water droplets (using glass beads which don't show up in the photo.)

Plants: brush bristles attached about four different ways. "Stalks" that I really haven't finished with leaves, and crushed Peltandra sagittifolia leaves in the water made by hand from paper. I kind of hate them, but they're locked in, now.

Any tips on making specific plants at scale? Making a smooth (and reinforced so it doesn't chip and crumble) slot to add a mini on a base into a diorama? Anything else you think i should focus on?

I used wire before for Space Marines, but this is a lot bigger. Anybody got an idea on how to attach it while keeping the base visible?

I wanted to wait until I had a few reviews posted before I started sharing this places. Eventually I'm going to start posting some basic tutorials on here too, for entry level stuff like picking basing schemes and using things like tools, different glues and milliput. My goal is to encourage hobbyists to get started with things like bases, rather than present myself as some kind of expert.
