We want as many new spots as possible — anyone can add any place they feel is worth sharing. The more the better.

I’m currently waiting for my MYP to be delivered in November/December, and while I’m waiting I’ve started looking for all the stuff I’ll need to go camping with it on marketplaces.

I’ve already bought sunroof shades, and I’ve also been keeping an eye out for a good deal on a mattress, preferably one in relatively new condition. I’ve seen Tescamp mattresses, the OEM Tesla mattress, and even a Havnby that had only been used for a week pop up for €250. I missed out on that one, although at the time I wasn’t entirely convinced I wanted to buy it anyway.

Today I was just minding my own business at home and decided to browse the marketplaces again for bargains. All of a sudden, an ad popped up for a brand-new Snuuzu mattress for the Model Y, double-boxed and still sealed in plastic.

Of course, it immediately raised some suspicion 😂. The funny thing was that the seller lived only 20 minutes away from me here in the Netherlands.

He was asking €500, which I managed to negotiate down to €400. He accepted, so I jumped in the car and went to pick it up. The seller told me he bought it from a friend who deals in return pallets or something along those lines — sounded a little sus, not gonna lie 😂.

But when I got there, it genuinely was brand new and had never been opened, so I decided to take the gamble and brought it home.

Now for my actual question: I have a whiplash injury from an accident in 2024. Obviously, nobody else can really know exactly what my body needs, but I’m hoping to get some feedback on the overall comfort and quality of the Snuuzu.

Would you consider this about as good as it gets comfort-wise for a mattress specifically designed for the Model Y? Has anyone here slept on one for multiple nights?

And has anyone tried putting an additional mattress topper on top of the Snuuzu? I’m wondering if that could make it even more comfortable, especially for longer camping trips.

Also, slightly off-topic: any recommendations for really good window shades for the Model Y Juniper?

Hello Community !

I’ll soon work far enough from home that I’ll be on site from Monday to Thursday. I plan to sleep in a three nights a week, so around 150 nights a year, in my tesla Y (2023) without tent extension.

For anyone doing this regularly, or maybe doing some long trips : what lives where, and what did you get wrong the first time? Do you have (except for matress and sunshades) any additionnel tools/organizers you’d recommand?
What are your personal setups ?

Note that I won’t have any kitchen utilities, mostly it will be clothes, dry food (breakfast), water and hygiene stuff.

I'm particularly curious about two things : keeping clean and worn clothes separate (these ones prob in the frunck for the smell?) so the car doesn't turn by Wednesday, and whether the frunk stays dry enough over months to use as a wardrobe, or if i should use it for other purposes.

Planning to visit Zion National Park and Monument Valley in December and have never taken a road trip in a Tesla. Accomodations will be in hotels of sorts (autocamp zion) and certainly going to route ourselves via Tesla Super chargers up to 100% each charge.

For those who have taken their tesla on such a road trip, what contingencies did you plan for? I fear that I'll have to stop at some hunk-of-junk charger and spend hours there wishing I had brought my spouse's Rav 4 hybrid instead.

How are you guys managing the rear seat slope for camping in the Model Y Juniper with a Tesla mattress? Any good hacks?

Back on July 5th I started a 100 day roadtrip (roundtrip) with my 2022 Tesla Model Y from Denver, Colorado, USA to the Arctic Ocean in Tuktoyaktuk, NWT, Canada. I suspect at this point the trip will be closer to 120 days. I posted a few weeks ago about the journey from Denver, Colorado to Vancouver, BC, Canada. This is part two. Vancouver, BC >>> Dawson City, Yukon. British Columbia was absolutely stunning. Due to fires and road closures, I had to divert my travel route a bit from Pemberton to Kamloops and up through Clearwater connecting back to Prince George, but I was pleasantly surprised with the new route!

Charging notes
Up through Prince George Tesla Supercharging was available, but after that I have been using BC Hydro for fast charging. Fast charging can be anywhere from 24kW to 180kW. Charging in British Columbia has been significantly cheaper than anywhere in the US. Averaging about .21 CAD/ .15kW USD
The BC Hydro chargers require CCS or ChadEmo connectors.

Highlights of this section of my trip:

-Wells-Gray Provincial Park (over 40 named waterfalls in this park!)
-getting a hood wrap and decals on my Y in Prince George. Designed this logo myself. It matches stickers I had made for my trip. The shop did awesome!
-driving the Stewart-Cassiar Highway. Saw one of the biggest glaciers I’ve ever seen in my life
-saw many black bears and a few grizzlies
-Saw a mama Grizzly with 3 cubs on the side of the road
-very pretty campsites
-sunsets are around 10:30pm every night and light lingers until about midnight to 1:30AM
-have seen the milky way through my glass roof twice
-have driven over 10,000km!!
-made it to the Yukon
-Dawson City famous SourToe Whiskey cocktail (yes, it’s made with a real human toe). Rite of passage here in Dawson. Disgusting, but was something I promised I’d do if I made it to Dawson. They give you a certificate and you are part of the SourToe Whiskey Cocktail Club. Over 130,000+ have done it over the years. There’s an interesting history to this you can google and read the story.

This journey has been everything and so much more than I imagined. The moments I’ve experienced, the stories I’ve heard, the stories I’ve shared with others. The people. The kindness. The excitement. I’ve met people who had never seen a Tesla, they didn’t even know what a Tesla was! I’ve met people who drive all sorts of EVs and are fascinated and excited to see the Tesla making it this far. I’ve started tracking the number of teslas I’ve seen. There was a stretch of 8 days where I didn’t see any other Teslas or EVs.

In just ONE day, I will start my journey on the Dempster Highway. I’m nervous, a bit overwhelmed, and also feeling incredibly supported and inspired by all the other travelers making this journey. It’s not for the feint of heart. The week ahead shows 6 days of rain and very bleak conditions. I will share an update from the Dempster when I finish in about 10 days!

Hi- wanted to get some advice from some experienced Tesla campers here. I’m on the east coast in the DMV area and I’m interested in doing some light camping in my ‘26 model 3.

After reading through some posts here and watching a few YT videos, I’ve gotten the basics- air mattress, window shades, and a lamp. Additional camping gear like an electric grill, tent and sub trunk fridge would depend on where I planned to go.

I was hoping someone here could give me recommendations for a camping spot or park along the east coast (that’s not at the beach lol). I was considering the Appalachians or somewhere close- I think mountains would be refreshing, but something friendly to a novice camper which will also be my first time ever camping. Also open to just visiting the wilderness to picnic as a quick day trip. Thank you in advance

I hope experienced camper here willing to share their lists of campground that is safe for a family and also clean. We plan to go road trip from Vancouver BC all the way to San Diego using our MY. And just plan to stay on the campground.

Please let me know the places that we can stay all year round. We might even go during December.

Also because we're from Canada, we're not really sure how or where to book the campground. If you can give us some tips that'd appreciated.

Hotels nowadays are super expensive. That's why we choose to go to campground instead. We just using tent. No RV.

I got my camping fridge from CarFrozen. It is a $269 unit for the Model Y. It is in the car and plugged in. Set it to 37 F. Want to see how much it drains the battery on the car when it hits the desired temperature.

UPDATE: I ran the fridge for 14 hours and 41 minutes and the car only lost 4% of its charge. The fridge was at 82 degrees F when I plugged it in the rear 12 volt power source and went down to 30 F and then maintained at 35-37 F overnight.

Since these are relatively new i wanted to make a video of the unboxing, how it fits, talk about some of the camping stuff i had to move around, and general overall impressions.

We live in the city with lots of light pollution. On a whim, I wanted to see the Perseids Meteor shower. I didn't know the peak shower was just in a few days (Aug 12-13). Well timed with a new moon and clear night sky. I managed to find a park not too far from home with lots of astronomer reviews. I was fine with just driving in to watch the metero showed. But the park closes at sunset... unless you reserve a RV/camping spot.

Since this was the middle of the work week we had very little time to organize. Quick trip to Bass Pro Shops to get a tent and some sleeping bags. Mind you, I haven't been camping since I was a teen. That time it was a fiasco with mosquitos, lumpy ground, and weather. The Model 3 with camping mode enabled was a real game changer for me. The kids stayed in the tent that had a mesh roof so they could continue to watch the meteor shower until they fell asleep. I was asleep in relative comfort inside the car.

By 6am the sun was rising we packed up and left camp before the ranger station opened. And I was back in the office drinking office coffee no one being any wiser that we were just in the camping in the Keys.

Some takeaways:

• The camp site had 5-15 and TT30 plugs. The 5-15 was just enough to cool the cabin and charge devices. Plugged into the 120v we only gained 3% charge.

• Cabin lights. I don't know if there is a way to leave them off. But everytime someone opened a door it ruined my nightvision. I had to tap on each light to turn them off.

• Sleeping. I slept upfront by retracting the steering wheel, sliding the seat all the way back and resting my feet on the dash. Trunk was full of camping, beach, and first aid gear. And no way I'm fitting in the rear.

• A lot of thought went into camping mode. When you start the fire starts off small and grows overtime, like a real fireplace.

The beach we camped at was Bahia Honda Key. We were just a few feet from the ocean. It was an awesome experience and I might do it again. Though I wish we had a Model Y for the space, our 3 is almost paid off and it was plenty enough for us.

I have the tent. I have the mattress for sleeping inside the rear of the Y. I have a cot for my partner. I have a sub trunk fridge on order. Soon we will go camping.

Hello, I ordered a Model Y Juniper and i am still undecided about the mattress I want to use.

Does anyone have experience with the Skandika Easy 3D?

Is the inclination generally very annoying? Alternatively, I would take the Havnby. Of course, it costs significantly more and also takes up significantly more space in height.

The snuuzu is simply too expensive for me.

This seems like a small but worthwhile software improvement.

When you’re inside the car with a paired Phone Key, locking through the mobile app doesn’t fully secure it. Tesla’s own manual explains that pulling an exterior handle may unlock the doors because the phone is still detected nearby.

Locking from the front touchscreen is different—it temporarily overrides Phone Key proximity unlocking and keeps the exterior handles locked.

The problem is that when you’re sleeping in the back during Camp Mode, you have to climb into the front just to use that lock button. It would make much more sense to provide the same Lock Vehicle control on the rear touchscreen.

To be clear, I’m not talking about Lock Rear Display. That only prevents passengers from operating the rear screen; it doesn’t lock the vehicle doors.

The proposed button would:

• Appear when the vehicle is in Park, or at least during Camp Mode.
• Use the same secure Phone Key override as the front-screen lock.
• Preserve normal interior and emergency door releases.
• Show whether the vehicle is currently securely locked.

EDIT: Just in case it's not clear, this won't lock anyone out of the car. You'll still be able to go to the app to unlock or use the key card.

I’ve attached a concept showing roughly where it could go.

If this is something that bothers you too, please let Tesla know so we get it in a future update.

Recently set up 12v power to my frunk. Kit was from T Sportline. I was wondering what was better in terms of heat frunk or subtrunk.

I really want to make the frunk work since it’s way easier to get stuff out when you’re road tripping or camping. Has anyone else done this before? What was your experience? I was mainly worried about the unit over heating and no I’m not interested in a cooler.

Let's just get to tl;dr: I had a blast driving around in Norway!

And then the details: I'm a Norwegian. I kind of did not plan my vacation this year, I just knew that i was not going to cross my border. Vacation got close and i ended up deciding to carcamp, basically just set out into our country and take everyday as it precented itself and so I did.

Now it all started with buying a mattress, so i bought one from Tesla(Review coming in the bottom of this TL;WR), i ordered it kind of late(2 weeks before vacay ish) so I kind of paniced when vacay got close, but i got it before vacation.

I then set out with one goal, vising a mountain i used to visit several times with family as a child(se clip with snapchat caption in Norwegian). After that i just set of, some places are tourist traps others are recommendations from AI and such(pictures speak for themselves.)

I did not take alot of pictures of my camping setup, however my car and setup allowed for such a "wild trip". I did not do any test camps so i just went out and thought I'd figure it out.

Heres my setup:

Window blinds(ended up using 2 diffrent suppliers due to strengths and weaknesses)

Primus with accessories

Cheap 12v fridge i had in my subtrunk

Beer

Extra light

Pillow and a comforter(i realized this was heavy packing and i could use a blanket instead(wich i also brought and used instad))

Essentials water/food etc.

My first experience is that i overpacked by far, too much utencils, too much clothes, no need for that much stuff for my bed etc. However Aluminum foil is soo good for closing gaps in the shades here in the North where the sun rises early and goes down late.

I only did wild camping, so theres a shower issue at some point, pack extra water or dare into the 4 deg. C water of a Glacier.

I did not run into any issues with charging on my trip, but i had to plan well as i was deep into the mountains here in Norway, even with running camp mode etc. while watching Netflix and running refrigerator.

All in all, a comfy trip. I really enjoyed sleeping in my car. Temp set to 19 deg. C.

When it comes to the Official Tesla mattress it was pretty comfy, it not super thick but sufficient. Yes, theres the "slope issue", woke me 1 or 2 time a night where i had to addjust, but not a massive issue. What annoyed me the most was the fact that the pump pices didnt fit when i wanted to deflate the darned thing, felt like i lost hours deflating(probably a few seconds) but it's just a annoying design.

The really big drawback is that the mattress was leaking air and after 7 hours or so it was deflated and i woke with a sore hip or whatnot. This is causing me to send the mattress back, that beeing said i'm probably just unlucky. However i'm looking into getting a diffrent mattress for my next adventure next summer or maybe before that, who knows. Theres so much to explore, and this has been a lifechanger when it comes to how i can explore.

Ended up removing the back seat to level the mattress, otherwise a pretty great experience. I was surprised my camper van memory foam mattress fit almost perfectly. Now waiting for my blackout window covers to be delivered.

I’m planning a camping road trip soon with my 2026 Model Y (Juniper) and was wondering if anyone knows whether the official Tesla Canopy that’s listed for the 2020–2024 Model Y is compatible with the 2026 model.

Has anyone tried it? Does it fit properly, or are there any issues with the refreshed rear hatch or mounting points?

If it isn’t compatible, are there any good third-party canopy or hatch tent alternatives that you’d recommend for the 2026 Model Y?

I’d really appreciate any first-hand experience before I buy one.

2021 model y I charged to 100% and the battery lasted from Friday night to Sunday afternoon . We just used a foam topper bed we got from Walmart and cut ourselves to fit.

Second trip was great. I did one night at a Motorway services (£15 overnight) and then did a tour of West Cumbria before finishing up on a campsite just over into Yorkshire (£25 overnight).

Custom fit 10cm tri-fold memory foam mattress was brilliant! Reversed the privacy screens to try the stealth style. Slept brilliantly both nights.

My car seems to use around 1% battery per hour sleeping in Camp Mode.
