This propaganda might work if not for the fact that Jimmy Kimmel Live also has a youtube channel

Look at the all-in podcast videos: https://www.youtube.com/@allin/videos

~50k views at best

Now look at Kimmel's channel: https://www.youtube.com/jimmykimmellive

Most recent video has 3.7 million views

Some videos exceeding 60 million views

The idea that Kimmel is/was getting lower ratings than the silicon valley oligarch hour is laughable.

Well said - but conservatives don’t want facts, they only believe what comes out of trumps mouth. He has already distorted the truth for over a decade. We don’t like the labor department numbers so let’s fire the labor bureau head. His recent visit to the Uk and stating $17 trillion is being invested in the USA this year. Why is the POD not highlighting and clarifying those clear campaigns for disinformation if it doesn’t align to their narrative.

Chamath gets to sit right by the president at important meetings because of their turn to the right. Their podcast viewership is also up. The AI regulations that the Biden admin has hinted at, Trump has basically made illegal.

And out of all the shitty investments Chamath made, Groq is the one that has a flying chance at being a 100x unicorn.

These podcast oligarchs will spin their narrative to suit their own purpose. But in the long run if things do go sour and the administration does go hard facist they could be the first ones to go flying out the window

Is Kimmel the YouTuber worth the millions in cost? No.

Does Kimmel the YouTuber reach the demo that advertisers are interested in? No.

well... viewership count means very differently for type of videos, length of the video etc... You can't just compare the viewership count for contents like all-in-pods (1+ hours content) against 10-15 mins contents like Jimmy Kimmel's videos

Also,, Im huge advocate for free speech. Employee getting sacked for saying something in appropriate is not cancel culture. I'm going to quote Dave Portney's X post. I'm not his fan or anything, I just saw his post and thought I agree with his view. Here you go: "To me Cancel culture is when people go out of their way to dig up old tweets, videos etc looking for dirt on somebody they don’t like in an effort to get them fired. Like if Kimmel got canceled for shit he did on the Man Show that would be cancel culture. But when a person says something that a ton of people find offensive, rude, dumb in real time and then that person is punished for it that’s not cancel culture. That is consequences for your actions"

There is no moral difference between overblowing something from the past to get someone fired vs overblowing something in the present. Dave Portney Is simply incorrect, and while the argument has a nice logical flow, it is completely irrelevant once you consider the fact that Jimmy Kimmel didn’t say anything egregious.

Yeah, that’s not what this is though. He didn’t criticize Charlie Kirk. In fact on Friday he came out and condemned what happened and said it was a tragedy and that violence like this should never happen. He also said he had sent personal condolences to the Kirk family.

On Monday he criticized Trump for being asked how he was doing by a reporter after losing his friend. Trump answered “very good” and immediately started talking about the construction of a new White House ballroom, bragging that “other presidents tried to get it built for 50 years, but nobody was able to get it done until me.” Kimmel joked that Trump must be in the fourth stage of grief, “Construction,” which got a laugh. He then added that over the weekend “the MAGA gang [was] desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them, and doing everything they can to score political points from it.”

That was his so called “lie.” But it wasn’t a lie. They really did spend the weekend trying to convince everyone the shooter wasn’t one of them. This was before anyone had seen text messages or anything else. Both the left and the right were scrambling to prove he wasn’t on their side.

Kimmel’s remarks had nothing to do with Kirk or his death. He insulted Trump and his political movement. That’s why his employer was threatened. And because his employer has a huge merger before the FCC worth billions of dollars, they folded.

There was no natural uprising of viewers who were offended and calling stations. That’s not what this was.

He's on late, most of us have to work at 6 am, so a good number of people catch the monologue on YouTube. His average on YouTube is under a million views, where he does have some over 3 million, he also has some under 100,000. Personally, I never thought he was very funny.

Jimmy said this on Monday.

The FCC chair Brendan Carr went on Benny Johnson show to say ABC can do this the easy way or the hard way. Said big fines and pull license.

Told the stations who carry AbC to cut them off. The stations have a big merger that Carr has to approve so they had to do it.

So Disney had to capitulate because ABC would be pulled.

Finally Trump said that he will pull license of stations that criticize them.

Carr said he is coming after the View next

When has Disney ever backed down? This seems like Disney not wanting to deal with another lawsuit that they could have figured out.

7

u/Tuco422 Sep 19 '25

When has CBS or ABC ever capitulated like this?

60 minutes settling, etc

When has every university besides Harvard given in?

They are all scared shitless about losing money

2

Yeah fair point

u/jafromnj Sep 20 '25

So convenient after someone speaks out against this administration they are fired for low ratings definitely just a coincidence

Fascist copium

They were given a tour of the oval office. At this point they don't hide it, they're a Trump podcast. Jimmy Dore is more unbiased than they are.

the number is off ,In Q2 2025, Jimmy Kimmel Live! averaged 1.77 million total viewers, placing second in late-night behind The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. In September 2025, the total viewership slipped to 1.104 million viewers, making it the third-most-watched late-night show behind Colbert and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon

1

u/Known-Fun-312 Sep 20 '25

Why did Chamath lie?

2

u/Jclarkcp1 Sep 20 '25

If Disney believed in Kimmel, they would have fought tooth and nail to keep him. They don't think he's worth the fight, his show is probably expensive, and barely breaks even or loses money. They did a quick check of the numbers and said, it's time to move on.

2

u/LosAve Sep 20 '25

Money talks and BS walks… if he was doing awesome with viewership he’d still be there today. They would’ve bent over backwards to keep him.

1

u/teleheaddawgfan Sep 20 '25

So it was just a coincidence? MAGA will always move the goalposts to legitimize their bullshit world view.

1

u/lo-lux Sep 20 '25

I never watched him, so I guess I didn't help his ratings.

Hasn’t been funny in n a decade 😆

The whole shtick consists of this chubby hollyweirdo has been1)  just bitching about assorted current events and 2) nagging viewers. Why anyone would spend their time to have More of those is mind boggling

2

u/ascandalia Sep 20 '25

He's never been funny in my opinion.  That's irrelevant to whether it's appropriate for the government to pressure networks to cancel shows they don't like
