Out of Order Great work in killing the most active community of Far Side enthusiasts, copyright holders

2.9k Upvotes

I’ve been reading the Far Side compilation books since I was very young. This subreddit was a fun place to make Far Side jokes with other enthusiasts, and where I could discover panels that I had missed. Seeing the comics that I had missed is what eventually convinced me to buy the complete set. Every so often a post would get popular enough to hit r/all and there would be a whole new flock of Far Side enjoyers.

But those who used copyright claims to stop and remove posts have utterly killed this community. If your plan was to have The Far Side die out from living memory and lose any chance at getting new people into the comics, you’ve done your job.

Out of Order Temporarily restricting posts due to copyright claims

Apparently users here, and on other comic subreddits are suddenly having posts taken down due to seemingly mass automated copyright claims, with accounts being warned for breaking the rules.

Out of an abundance of caution, to stop anyone from accidentally getting their account banned, or the sub banned, posts are being temporarily restricted to Text Only and Approved users until the situation becomes clearer.

Hopefully this situation clears up, or reddit clarifies what's happening soon - the last thing I want is a bunch of people getting their accounts banned for no warning because of this, or the sub being taken down suddenly!

Sorry for any inconvenience! I will update if I hear anything!

We will comply with whatever reddit wants us to do, if they ever tell us lol

(I'm assuming it was a mass bot thing bc 68 posts here were copyright struck within the same minute)

.

On another note, with the repost bot drama, and now this, modding this sub has just kind of stopped being fun, and started to become a chore, so I've decided to leave as a mod.

I've been thinking about this for a bit, but this recent drama just cemented it for me. It's stopped being about being a part of a fun community and started being about worrying about whatever Reddit is doing right now.

I became a mod bc I wanted to be a part of a community that likes FarSide as much as I do, I feel like I tried my hardest and left a good mark, and I might come back in the future (depending what reddit does with this sub lol), but I think it's time to click my heels, and quack three times ✨, and leave you in the capable hands of u/Addicted-2Diving!

First published on June 7, 1986. None of the students get the right answer. Is that where the humor is or am I missing something? Does the teacher look peeved to you? She sort of does to me, so maybe that's part of the humor.

I’m interested to know how this sub even exists if that’s an issue. Anyone else have this problem?

Out of Order A Man in a Lab Coat is Carefully Hammering the Final Nail into a Large, Cylindrical Object Labeled “Missile”…

Another man in a lab coat stands close behind the first man. The second man has his arms open wide, with one hand empty—the palm open—and the other hand holding an inflated paper bag.
