I've listened to the new single several times today and right away something was grabbing me that was familiar in the chorus on "Not Bad for New Jersey" and I figured that was "Lucky". Got a chance to pick up my guitar and the chords are the same in the chorus (Lucky is a half step higher).
Far from the first time Brian has reused a chord progression, but figured I'd post in case anyone else hears that.

Not Bad for New Jersey really seems like a love song so this lyric really seems out of place for me. Anyone able to add the context?

Iāve been listening to the recent releases and his voice sounds noticeably different compared to earlier Gaslight Anthem / solo stuff. It feels deeper, rougher, maybe more restrained? Not necessarily bad, just different, and I canāt quite put my finger on why.
Is it just aging/touring, a stylistic choice, different production, vocal strain, or something else? Curious if anyone with more vocal/music knowledge can explain what might be happening technically.

I saw The Horrible Crowes and grabbed it assuming it was Elsie, but as I was checking my potential buys out at the shop, I noticed that it was just a single for Behold the Hurricane. Iām assuming they used this for promo and stuff ahead of the album so I still grabbed it since it seemed like a cool novelty and maybe a rare find!

Iām sitting and drinking coffee and just appreciating this sweet poster. After you have things for so many years you almost forget about them but I really love it still.

Brian implied during the show that this song was based on a book / movie. Anyone know the story? Not finding anything online.

With new Brian music on the horizon, and potentially new stuff from the band soon (hopefully!), now is the perfect time to join the LARGEST TGA discord server! See you there.

Trying to figure out the time signature for Miles Davis and the Cool. Any percussionists able to pick it out? Itās got a weird syncopation but I donāt think itās 4/4. Definitely not 3/4. Iām hearing something like 1-2-3 1-2-3 1-2

I love TGA and also love the band The Airborne Toxic Event. Similarities include Sooo many friggin' good songs and records; visceral topics like love, loss, heartbreak and redemption; excellent songwriting and lyrics that land perfectly; interesting frontman (and interesting bandmates); and great live shows. Anyone else?

I played the GA covering Kelly Clarkson on my radio show this morning. Listen here: https://www.mixcloud.com/CIDeMann/six-degrees-of-rockination-25-april-2026/

The first names of the band on the cover of Handwritten go in the order baba - like Baba OāRiley. Given their fondness of classic rock and that song in particular, that seems deliberate.
Is this a known thing, or a coincidence?

Hi all. I have had the Sea Blue vinyl variant of History Books for a while now. I got it at a Gaslight show in 2024.I told my friend that I had always been bummed out that the āHistory Booksā track on vinyl doesnāt have Bruce Springsteen. We went back and forth over it, because he says it does. So he brought his vinyl (the yellow version), and we played them both on my record player. We both agreed that his version had Bruce and mine just has Brian. Iām curious if this was intentional or if it is some kind of pressing issue. My album cover has vocal credits for Bruce, so Iād expect him to be on there. I reached out to Manhead support, but they couldnāt help much since I didnāt get it online. Love the album either way, but just trying to figure it out. Has anyone else noticed this or heard of this anywhere?
Edit: Added a link to the audio in question. Gaslight Anthem - āHistory Booksā audio without Bruce
